About Caroline Catling

We own and run Turpins Lodge Riding School and livery yard in Hook Norton, Oxfordshire. As well as 34 horses and ponies we also have, Woody and Luna Mable the cat and our latest edition Frodo an adorable Whippet x Collie :)

Why Caroline Catling chose Javea, Moraira and Denia area

We first went to Javea when our children were small and fell in love with the area. They are now married, and expecting families of their own, and Javea holds as much attraction as it did years ago. Javea is loved by the Spanish and it retains its Spanish charm. It is very convenient to fly to Alicante or Valencia but we also enjoy driving from Calais or getting the boat to Santander or Bilbao and driving. We stay in the Parador chain of Spanish hotels as often as we can but still love the villa when we arrive.

What makes this villa unique

Margarita is a brilliant villa for a family holiday. During the day we enjoy time relaxing by the pool which gets the sun all day or going out to one of the local beaches with their restaurants and bars. During the evenings we take it in turn to shop and cook, often on the BBQ, as well as going to the excellent restaurants locally.

November 2013. Squeaky clean ideally equipped! John & Caroline have provided an exceptionally clean & well maintained villa. The quality of our visit began long before we arrived in Spain. We spoke with Caroline on the phone & she gladly answered any questions. On arrival at Villa Margarita we were met by Elena who guided us through the villa & explained the operation of all the amenities & gave us a brief overview of the local area. It is difficult to add much more, everything about the villa was exactly as advertised - maybe even better because of the attention to detail provided by John, Caroline & Elena. We highly recommend this property & will gladly return as soon as possible. A very special touch was the welcome pack. Thank you!!



July 2012 A spectacular vacation. Villa Margarita is everything we had hoped for & more. I would recommend this villa to any family (we were 3 generations) looking to enjoy time together. Sorry our stay was only one week. It was a perfect house!

Notes on accommodation: There is a large round wooden table with 6 comfortable wooden chairs with cushions and umbrella. Four hard-wood sun loungers and umbrella. A sofa, coffee table and foot stool in the outside kitchen Outside: The terrace with outdoor kitchen & swimming pool is superb for summer living. Dine outside at the hardwood table with comfortable chairs making full use of the outdoor kitchen and BBQ. The outdoor kitchen has it's own large fridge/freezer, electric steak plate and gas rings, shatter proof plates, dishes, etc., for using safely near the pool and a second full set of cutlery. There are also high quality 'non glass' glasses wine, champagne, beer, etc., and an ice maker. Utility Room: Small utility room with Miele washing machine, tumble drier, iron, and ironing board. Also vacuum cleaner and broom. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All beds have memory foam mattress's and are 2 meter's long and are fitted with white cotton sheets and pillow cases. Bed spreads, blankets and soft furnishings are provided for your comfort. Other: The accommodation is open plan. The sitting room is one end of the large room with a separate dining area next to the kitchen which is round the corner behind a breakfast bar. Double doors lead out to the pool, patio and gardens.

Perfect Villa in a superb location!

From initial communication to locking the door, this week away was perfect! Its always quite stressful starting a holiday and finding your way to collect keys etc but all was made easy. Directions were perfect, villa easy to find and location couldn't have been better. This villa is immaculate, the outdoor kitchen area ideal and the pool was a perfect temp! Things like Wi-Fi, TV, beds, bathrooms can differ from descriptions and images but everything within the villa was as expected and the welcome pack was ideal as the fridge had a very large cold beer waiting for me. I highly recommend that anyone staying in Javea give this Villa consideration you won't be disappointed! The four of us are about to re-book! p.s. there is also a huge play park with a restaurant and bar at the end of the road - Ideal for kids!

Delightful Margarita

We loved our first visit to Villa Margarita in 2010 - so much so that we have been back FOUR times! The villa is gorgeous with absolutely everything you could need for a holiday, and so much more. The Pizza Oven is a particular fav with our family! The location is blissfully quiet and wooded and only a 5min drive to the beach which is lovely and local and offers every kind of facility, entertainment, restaurant, bar you could hope for. Young and/or old; families or couples - all are catered for.

Eating Out.: If you don't want to cook at home there are a vast choice of restaurants. Agila (formally Villa Celeste) and Baccus are within walking distance of the villa and are both very good. Try the steak on a hot stone at Baccus. The 'menu del dia' or set menu at Agila is excellent and good value for money. Along the Arenal beach there is a restaurant to suit you what ever your taste. Sit and eat and enjoy the sound of the waves lapping the beach. There is normally some sort of entertainer to add to the ambiance. Market stalls also sell souvenirs and trinkets to take home. Or try a restaurant in the narrow cobbled streets of the old town for a real Spanish meal.

The quality of the air is rated by The World Health Organization as one of the best in he world and the pollen count is very low so ideal for hay fever sufferers.

The beach towards the port is pebbly and much quieter. The original Tosca stone was dug from here. Fishermen can often be found here as well as in the port.

Coast/Beach:

Locally visit El Arenal beach, the old town of Javea, go and see the old windmills for a breathtaking view, not a drive if you don't like narrow roads with big drops. There is a daily fish and vegetable market in Javea and a weekly market on a Thursday. Javea's Garden centres are interesting to visit. Further afield there is a Castle and shops at Guadalest. The coast is known as the orange blossom coast because of the orange groves.

Travel:

Bodegas for excellent good value wine, the bodega in Jalon is worth the drive through beautiful countryside with almond and orange blossom groves to this scenic little town. Benidorm for water parks, theatre, big shops like El Corte Ingles etc. On Sundays there is a huge market at Pedreguer off the N332. Details in the villa of local attractions.

Further Details:

Pool heating is £150 per week between end of October and beginning of March. The heating is turned on a week before arrival to ensure the pool is up to temperature 28 deg when you arrive. A security deposit of £250 is required with the balance which will be returned to you in full as long as there are no breakages (wear and tear accepted) or excessive cleaning.

Winter lets - pool heating charged at £150 per week. We put the pool heating on a week before you arrive to ensure pool is up to temperature.
