Located in the unspoilt village of Fearby, near Masham, with its wide village greens and within the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Bramblewick is everyone's idea of a traditional stone-built cottage. It has parking, a south-facing enclosed garden at the front and a patio garden at the rear. Ideally situated for touring North Yorkshire by car, cycle or on foot, or simply relaxing in beautiful countryside. Local attractions include fishing, golf, clay pigeon shooting, pony trekking and tennis. The Wensleydale heritage railway and The Forbidden Corner, an attraction which defies description, are a few miles distant. Unlimited broadband WiFi is provided and one well-behaved pet is welcome. This Visit Britain 4 Star rated property sleeps up to four people in two double bedrooms - the largest, with glorious views over open country, has a king size bed and an en-suite wc and shower room. There is an additional house bathroom with wc, bath and shower.

Notes on accommodation: Off road parking for one car outside the property (further roadside parking is available a short distance away). Electric central heating throughout. Electricity included in price. Double glazed windows. One well behaved pet welcome. Initial supply of logs for the wood burner, power, bed linen and towels provided. Welcome Pack on arrival. No smoking inside. Enclosed garden and patio area. Outside: There is an enclosed south facing front garden, with small lawn and flower borders and a garden bench to enjoy them from. A rear patio garden looks out over fields and is west facing for the evening sun! Garden furniture and cushions are provided, as is a quantity of melamine tableware for those alfresco dining experiences. Utility Room: There is no utility room but we provide an electric iron and ironing board, liquid soap, bin bags, cleaning supplies & vacuum cleaner, etc. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen and towels are provided - both can be changed weekly if cottage is booked for two weeks. Other: Enclosed front porch with hanging space for coats and boot & shoe rack.

Relaxing tranquility in delightful Bramblewick

This is as near perfect as a cottage stay could be. From the generous and thoughtful welcome pack to the cosy woodburner, I cannot commend Bramblewick too highly. The village boasts a tremendously friendly local pub with good beer and food that is a short stroll under clear starlit skies (you will find torches in the cottage leat you forgot to pack) and is handily placed for exploring attractions such as Forbidden Corner and The Himalayan Garden at Grewelthorpe.

Charming cottage in beautiful part of the country

Lovely cottage, very well-maintained and stocked with everything you need for your stay- a real home from home. Comfortable and clean. Lovely shower in the ensuite (and another downstairs). Well-kept garden which gets the sun for most of the day and looks out onto fields enabling bird-watching and rabbit-watching! Lots of information in the cottage about the area and things to do, including OS maps and guide books. The owners, Alison & David, are very helpful and obviously concerned that you enjoy your stay.

Lots to do in the area within a short distance including walking, visiting ruined abbeys and gardens and picturesque villages. The Black Swan is an excellent pub just up the road serving very good food - we ate there 5 times within 1 week!

Would definitely recommend this cottage to friends, in fact we're considering another visit in autumn if it's available.

Beautiful cottage in a beautiful area

This cottage is immaculately clean, has lovely decor, all the mod cons you could possibly want, and is in a beautiful area. We enjoyed our stay very much. There were 4 adults in our group and we were very comfortable and not crowded at all. The hosts were very good to work with and we appreciated that they called and enquired after us right after we arrived. The en-suite shower wasn't working during our stay, and they explained and apologized and offered us a discount on subsequent rentals. I definitely recommend this property to anyone wanting to stay in a quiet little village in a lovely area.

(One little note to travelers from the States - they don't accept credit cards and you will have to do a bank transfer. That was something I was unfamiliar with and felt a little nervous doing, but it worked out well.)

The nearest railway station is Northallerton, on the East Coast Main Line, which is 16 miles away, and therefore use of a car is recommended. The A1, nearest junction Leeming Bar, is 10 miles distant.

Distances:

Masham 1.5 miles, Leyburn 10 miles, Ripon 11 miles, Harrogate 24 miles, Hawes 26 miles, York 42 miles.

Further Details:

The unspoilt village of Fearby, with its wide village greens, is within the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Many walks and cycle rides can be enjoyed from the front door of the cottage, and a short drive will take you into the Yorkshire Dales National Park, where the varied natural delights of Wensleydale beckon. The village pub is only yards from the cottage, and serves locally-brewed real ales and delicious home cooked meals. The delightful market town of Masham is a mere mile and a half away, and can easily be reached on local footpaths. As well as boasting two breweries, both with visitor centres, and many local shops, Masham hosts an annual Steam Rally in July, and a Sheep Fair in September. For golfers, Masham Golf Club welcomes visitors to play its course : "A lovely nine-holer in North Yorkshire" - Peter Alliss, The 2012 Open, Royal Lytham. Horse Riding is available at Masham Riding & Trekking Centre, Fly Fishing at Leighton Reservoir and Clay Pigeon Shooting at nearby Warren Ground. A vintage bus serves Wensleydale in the summer, calling at Masham and connecting with the Wensleydale Railway, which operates steam trains in the main season.

Booking Notes:
Booking is direct with the owner, by phone or email. A non-returnable deposit of one third of the rental rate is payable at the time of booking, with the balance made no later than 6 weeks prior to the start of the rental period. Payments may be made by cheque or, preferably, by online banking. If the latter method is chosen please contact the owner for banking details.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is Saturday. Short breaks are accepted but, apart from Winter and Low Season, we are only able to take them at less than 4 weeks notice. Unless otherwise agreed, arrival time is after 3.30pm and departure time by 10 am on all dates.

Notes on prices:
Although at peak times the owners only take bookings for a full week, they will consider short breaks during these periods, if there is availability at short notice. Please contact the owners to discuss such bookings.
