Originally "The Old Smithy" Efail Fach is now a pretty, cosy, detached stone cottage offering sea views. Set in the Pembrokeshire National Park, an ideal location from which to explore flower-filled lanes, local beaches, the city of St Davids, and for walking the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. Peaceful area with many attractive pubs, art galleries and craft centres. Two bedrooms, large garden, parking.
We have loved holidaying in Pembrokeshire for the past 30 years and were delighted when the opportunity presented itself to buy this gorgeous cottage. We live in Inner London and both work in the public sector, so we enjoy the chance to get away to this remote spot.
Marian Greenwood purchased this cottage in 2008
Proximity to the Pembrokeshire Coastpath. The beautiful spring flowers, the seal pups on the beaches in the autumn, the farm smells, local produce, peaceful and tranquil setting.
Cosy and quiet. Wood burning stove is wonderful on a chilly evening. The garden is a sun trap during the warm spring and summer.
Cottage welcoming, cosy, would recommend it for families, walkers. My mother liked it: very clean. Had a lovely week walking the coastal path. Fantastic views, great meals in Porthgain. Thankyou for a lovely place to rest our head.
Trefin beach is 20 minutes walk across the fields. Whitesands Bay is a beautiful sandy beach, excellent for surfing, 25 mins drive. There are many other small beaches along the coast path or within a short distance by car. Rock pools, sand or cliffs can all be found nearby. Porpoises can often be seen off Ramsay Island, and the autumn is a specially good time to see seals and their pups on secluded beaches.
Use of a car is highly recommended, although it would be possible to travel by train to Haverfordwest and complete the journey to the cottage by bus/taxi.
Trefin: 1 mile. St Davids; 6 miles. Fishguard: 8 miles. Strumble Head lighthouse: 8 miles. Haverfordwest 14 miles.
Local shop with cash point at petrol station, 0.5 miles away, long opening hours. Delicious Welsh breakfast and teas available in Mill Cafe in Trefin. Several local pubs serve lunch and evening meals. The famous Sloop Inn at Porthgain is very popular and offers a wide variety of "pub grub" and more varied catering. The Shed in Porthgain serves wonderful fresh fish. St Davids has a range of hotels, cafes, restaurants and pubs, as well as supermarkets, banks, gift shops and art galleries. Also two providers of water sports, fishing, whale and seal watching trips. Regular concerts are held in the beautiful St David's cathedral. Pembrokeshire offers many chances to watch and/or purchase traditional arts and crafts: pottery, glassware, weaving, cheese and chocolate making. There are several neolithic burial sites and standing stones in the area.
