Bluebell Cottage is one of the oldest properties in Tideswell dating right back to the 18th Century,and was formerly a bustling village pub. It’s in an unrivalled spot nestling in a quiet side street right in the heart of the village, close to 'The Cathedral of the Peak,' and good range of local shops, pubs and tearooms that offer fresh local produce. It's been restored to a high standard for modern living whilst keeping the original stone and wood structures with wooden nails. It's a bright spacious character cottage which is particularly suited to families or friends getting together and is often used for special birthday and other celebrations. Book it together with Butterfield Cottage, just a ten minute stroll away to cater for groups of up to 14 guests. Tideswell is gaining a reputation as a foodie village has its own range of branded goods. The cottage is well placed for walking and for exploring the myriad of attractions in the National Park

Great location, lovely cottage.

A lovely, well designed cottage in a great location in the beautiful village of Tideswell. The cottage and village have everything you could want, and there are great walks direct from the cottage- and the pubs are good too :). I'm sure we'll be back.

Good holiday

We stayed in Bluebell Cottage for 4 nights. The property was as described, well-equiped, clean and tidy, good value for money and the customer service couldn't be faulted. The location was convenient for quite a few attractions in the Peak District and I would recommend this cottage for families. The local shops and pubs are OK and convenient (if a bit limited in choice) and there is a great secondhand bookstore around the corner!

The nearest airport is Manchester International which is approximately 45 minutes. East Midlands Airport is also only 50 minutes away. Robin Hood Airport in Doncaster is just over 1 hour away.

Birmingham Airport is also just over 1 hour away.

The nearest main train station is Chesterfield which is 30 minutes away. Sheffield railway station is 45 minutes away from the cottage and Buxton station is 15 minutes away.

Distances:

Bakeswell is 6 miles, Castleton is 5 miles and Buxton is 7 miles from Tideswell.

Chatsworth House is 15 minutes drive. Alton Towers is an hour. Sheffield is 20 miles and Manchester is 25 miles.

Tideswell does not suffer from the maddening crowds and is a peaceful central location to explore the magic of the Peak District National Park

The Peak District offers stunning scenery and breathtaking landscapes for you to enjoy and explore. The Village of Tideswell stands in heart of the Peak District national park. Famous for its fine church known as 'The Cathedral of the Peaks', the village is also noted for its well dressing and carnival wakes. There is excellent walking and outdoor pursuits including cycling and climbing and the Monsal trail is close by. Millers Dale is just outside the village, Mam Tor, Castleton, Chatsworth House and Gardens including a farmyard and adventure playground for the children and Bakewell famous for it's 'Bakewell Pudding' are nearby, the spa town of Buxton is within a 15 minute drive.

The village has 3 great local pubs, a cracking cafe, chemist, family butchers, bakers,greengrocers, fish and chip shop and a Co-Op supermarket which is open 7 days a week until 10pm most nights! We actively encourage guests to use the local shops and drink the local ale to keep the village sustainable.

Prices for 3 nights and 7 nights are correct on the site , however prices for other durations eg a 2 or 4 night stay are not accurate and cannot be programmed in with the software available so please call or email for an actual quote.
Full payment is required for bookings taken up to eight weeks before arrival. When booking further in a advance a deposit of a third of the rental is asked for with the balance payable 7 weeks before arrival. Please pay by cheque or bank transfer.

The rental includes free Wi Fi, central heating, power, initial supplies for the log-burner and bed linen and towels. Dogs are most welcome at a cover charge of £25 each. Early check in at 1pm and late checkout at 12 noon often available at £20 each. £40 Good housekeeping bond, promptly returned when cottage left in good order.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is normally on a Friday but is flexible outside of peak season. Please contact the owner with your requirements.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund if canceled at least 7 days before arrival date.
  • 100% refund if canceled at least 14 days before arrival date.

Notes on accommodation: You come in to Bluebell through a large hallway with plenty of hooks for coats and room for walking boots, and the radiator soon dries off any wet or muddy items. Bluebell and Butterfield Cottages can be booked together to accommodate groups of up to 14 people, they are 10 minutes walk apart. Outside: The garden is private, walled and gated and has a small wildlife pond and a large stone shed which is suitable for storing bikes ( bring your own padlock). There is garden furniture There’s a washing machine, vacuum cleaner and ironing facilities hidden away in a utility area under the stairs. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels, and household linen, free Wi Fi and central heating are included in the tariff. Pets are welcome at £25 each. Early check in or late check out at £25 by arrangement. A good housekeeping bond of £40. Changeover day is Friday
