In the heart of the glorious South Hams, embraced by stunning beaches and coastline, nestle a cluster of luxurious period cottages & a manor house. Enclosed in a private estate, with parkland, meadows, orchards and woodland, Flear’s small river flows to the estuary towards sandy beaches and the sea beyond, whilst Dartmoor lies to the North. Our facilities are exceptional and offer a huge amount to our visiting families all seasons, all weathers. The magnificent indoor pool complex and giant indoor Playbarn are perfect for rainy days, or dropping-in for some family leisure time without the need for an agenda. Relax in the playground & paddocks, take a turn on the Pitch & Putt course or stroll to our court for a game or two of tennis. Our ponies are always around and there are beautiful walks in the valley and through Flear Wood. The pretty town of Kingsbridge, with its cafés, restaurants and quirky shops is only 10 mins by car, and our village boasts a family gastro-pub within a pleasant mile or so's walk.
Flear Farm is family-owned and run by us, Camilla and Barney Fawcett, and assisted by our little boy Reuben. We have always loved the country and after several years chasing our tails in London, we decided that we wanted us and our children to have greater exposure to nature and a more traditional pace of life. Keeping the cottages and the estate looking beautiful has been challenging but very rewarding, and we get a lot of our satisfaction from giving our families a super holiday and seeing them come back again the next year.
Barney Fawcett purchased this cottage in 2013
We spent several years trudging around with estate agents and looking over properties and saw hundreds of them. Flear Farm, it's period cottages and the surrounding area was so arrestingly beautiful that we stopped our exhaustive search immediately. The estate is in the heart of the South Hams and fabulously situated in the rolling hills of some of England most celebrated countryside virtually surrounded by wonderful beaches and coastline. Flear is a private country estate set away from the holiday hot spots whilst allowing easy access to the regions finest beaches and countryside for those who forage out of the gates and beyond.
The facilities her at Flear are truly exceptional. The giant indoor play barn (well equipped for a variety of ages from toddlers to grown-ups); the magnificent 40' indoor pool (filled with natural Spring water and maintained at 30 Deg C.) with accompanying family sized sauna and hot tub; the tennis court; the 3 hole pitch and putt golf course; our secluded valley with it's fruit trees meadows and stream; our magical woods (a sea of bluebells in spring); and of course our Dartmoor ponies Abby & Yara, and our ducks in the valley - are all part of what makes Flear unique.
