About Hillary Walter

We are a family of 5 who have have recently renovated and extended our home and cottage. We love being outside and enjoy gardening. We have a small holding consisting of a variety of chickens, pigs, sheep and two ponies!!

I enjoy making jams, chutneys, cakes etc. Nick (my husband) has just bought a Smoker for fish and meat and has been experimenting with that!

Understandably, our friends call us Tom and Barbara!!

Hillary Walter purchased this cottage in 2002

Why Hillary Walter chose Wiltshire

We bought Burrington because of its location. We are situated down a very quiet lane surrounded by fields with a view of Tockenham wood, which has Tockenham Lake within it. You could hardly believe we're only 2 miles from Royal Wootton Bassett and therefore have easy access to the M4 - which makes Heron's Nest an easy to get to retreat!!

What makes this cottage unique

There are plenty of wonderful things to experience whilst staying at Heron's Nest. There are wonderful walks in and around us. Plenty of fabulous and interesting towns and cities to visit, Bath, Oxford, Marlborough, Bristol, Castle Combe and the Cotswolds are all within an hours drive

The property itself is well equipped - I have tried to create a home from home kitchen. The sitting room has all the normal appliances one would expect plus a variety of games.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Celebrating a birthday and belated Valentines.

Looking forward to our next visit.

Thank you x

Lovely cottage, beautiful countryside views.

  • 5 of 5

Had a wonderful relaxing break from 02/03/18 for 3 nights. The cottage is lovely and has everything you would need during your stay, a real home from home. The garden is enclosed so ideal for letting your 4 legged friend out without worrying.

Hilary and Nick are brilliant, home made scones on arrival 👍, also helped tow our car when we got stuck in the snow nearby. I would recommend this lovely cottage to anyone looking for a relaxing break, it’s also ideal for guests who enjoy walks as there are plenty nearby. I Will look forward to staying during the summer months.

Wonderful cottage in peaceful surroundings

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was lovely - clean, light, and with everything you might need. It was peaceful and quiet but close enough to the main roads so you could explore the beautiful surrounding area. Also there are a couple of great child-friendly pubs nearby. Whilst we didn't get to meet the owner, she couldn't have been more accommodating, and the neighbours were on hand to make sure we were looked after. We would highly recommend, and will be coming back!
