About Judith and Geoffrey Pearson

Judith and Geoffrey Pearson worked as Chartered Physiotherapists for over 30 years but took the decision to live out in Italy in 2011.

They purchased a two bedroomed house with a separate two bedroomed apartment, along with 5 acres of surrounding land, which included around 100 olive trees and unspoilt natural woodland.

They wanted a complete change in lifestyle, including pace of life, food, social interaction and wanted much better weather throughout the year.

They have overhauled the whole property, or built from scratch, to bring modern comforts into a rural setting.

Judith and Geoffrey Pearson purchased this apartment in 2011

Why Judith and Geoffrey Pearson chose Trasimeno

It is an extremely private location, but with all modern conveniences, with air conditioning and the most amazing pool. Within olive groves, you can sample award winning olive oil, from our own olive trees.

Use of telescope for star gazing, possibility of seeing wild boar, deer, red squirrels, eagles, and in June - dancing fireflies.

Light pollution at a minimum and sometimes silence at night, only pierced by the sound of cicadas and tree frogs.

Easy access to main roads too, so exploring Tuscany and Umbria, including Assisi, Montepulciano, Pienza, Cortona, Perugia, etc, with close links to main rail links to Rome or Florence, Pisa or Siena.

What makes this apartment unique

There are numerous properties in this area, but Poparello probably has the most spectacular location. As far as we know this is the only property with a large 12 metre by 6 metre double infinity pool.

Air conditioning to all bedrooms added in 2016.

Peaceful location with nearly a 360 degree panoramic view over Tuscany from the house and pool.

There is use of binoculars and Telescope for amazing star and planet gazing.

Amazing views, great pool and friendly owners

  • 5 of 5

As a family with small children we spent nearly two weeks here on our summer holiday. Geoffrey and Judith were very welcoming and offered some great advice about things to see and do in the area. Our children loved the pool, which also offers the reassurance of being fenced and gated. The apartment is well furnished and equipped with two terraces and the play equipment was a welcome bonus too. We would recommend it to other families.

Lovely apartment with stunning views + pool

  • 5 of 5

My family (2 adults and 3 small children) had a great time at Poparello. Judith and Geoffrey, the hosts, looked after us extremely well and gave us lots of advice on what to do in the area. The apartment has very comfortable beds and the pool is gorgeous. We loved the salt water and the views are stunning. We saw eagles and heard wild boar! Highly recommend.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for you lovely comments. We have had a great many wild boar in the area this year, with some sightings on our lower terraces, but when the weather is hot it is less likely for a sighting. They like the soft ground to dig in. The wildlife is wonderful here and we had a sighting of deer only last week. We are pleased you like the salt pool, it is far more Eco-friendly here too. Thank you once again. Amazing & unbelievable views in Umbria

  • 5 of 5

Poparello has a spectacular location with maybe the best views in Umbria. The infinity pool is beautiful. Judith & Geoffrey went above and beyond the call in providing a welcoming and inclusive holiday for our family. They provide an outstanding guidebook and information on what to see and do. The little extras are much appreciated.

Our holiday in Umbria

  • 5 of 5

POPARELLO is exactly as Judith and Geoffrey say 'Home is Where the Heart is'. Their hearts have gone into making this wonderful area of Umbria a 'Home'. We had a fantastic holiday at Poparello which is found a good mile off the main road so you are away from noise, other properties and is in an idyllic area with outstanding views. The apartment is attached to the main house with a private entrance. It has 2 spacious bedrooms, a modern shower room and a well equipped kitchen.

We enjoyed excellent meals with Judith and Geoffrey as well as meals at L'Oca Bruciata in Paciano and Hotel Vannucci in Citta della Pieve. The American Bar also in Citta della Pieve is well worth a visit. Assisi, Lake Trasimeno, Orvieto, Cartona and Perugia are all accessible for a day visit. We visited Rome on the train which took just over the hour travelling time but also could have visited Florence in the opposite direction. Poparello has a wonderful Infinity Pool, a large terrace and play area for the children. Geoffrey can organise Wine tasting, Italian cookery courses and is more than willing to help to make your holiday so memorable.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your review. We loved having you at Poparello. Sadly our olive harvest, as you know, was not what it was supposed to be, but it meant a little more time sight-seeing and we did have lovely weather for the most part, while you were with us in early November. We hope that you will come again and next time the olives will be perfect and provide us with more award winning organic olive oil. There is so much to see in this area, and in the week you were with us, you were able to see some of the highlights. Hope to see you again soon. Judith and Geoffrey Pearson

A must visit

  • 5 of 5

The accommodation provided a welcome secluded clean, quality restful retreat yet still provided a convenient base to explore the wonderful sites of Umbria and Tuscany and the nearby numerous good dining opportunities. Relax by the large infinity pool taking in the breath-taking views from the comfortable sun loungers. Judith and Geoffrey provide a happy, friendly and helpful service to their guests and we have no hesitation in recommending Poparello.

Poparello Peace

  • 5 of 5

We spent four peaceful nights at Poparello. We woke to sun, birds singing and wonderful views.

A car is a must but many townships with stunning architectural treasures, great views and of course Italian food and wine are within easy reach; notably Assisi and Orvieto (but many more). Or you can walk from Poparello into surrounding countryside (the grounds themselves offer interest on fauna and flora) or nearby Paciano.

The accommodation is spotlessly clean. The hosts Judith and Geoffrey were physios and they have designed facilities in a way that suits people with mobility problems including wheelchair users).

We alternated sight-seeing with relaxation. The infinity pool is unique in my experience with unhindered views of surrounding countryside from a very high vantage point.

We ate out, bar-b-cued and on one evening took up the advertised offer of a meal with our hosts.

It was all a thoroughly agreeable experience but we do not want to praise it too much in case it gets too booked up!

Owner's Response: Thank you. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay here in Poparello. It was all too short. The weather forecast for the four days promised some rain, but you were blessed with mainly blue skies. It is surprising how much you did in so short a time. We look forward to a longer stay next time.
