Our pretty riverside cottage is the Gate Lodge to a 1773 small Georgian house. It overlooks acres of garden and grounds where mature oak and beech are under-planted with thousands of early spring bulbs. The Lodge has its own private garden, a sunny terrace and a small stream. Birds, honeysuckle and roses abound. There are three pretty rooms carefully furnished with our guests comfort in mind. The Lodge is located in the heart of the Boyne Valley which is studded with the great archaeological sites of Newgrange, Tara and Loughcrew. Our guests also like to visit Kells for its High Cross and 9th century round tower. Dublin and the East coast seaside town of Skerries are very accessible and lovely riverside walks, excellent golf and equestrian sports are also close by.
I've been renting our Gate Lodge for over ten years and have many regular visitors. My husband and I love to have guests at the Lodge - like having part time neighbours. Our collie Hero loves it also. I like to greet our guests myself and show them around and am nearly always at the end of the 'phone should guests need help or information.
Sinead Connelly purchased this cottage in 1980
This was our dream small Georgian house with a Gate Lodge, a river, a few acres to make a garden and lots of good fresh air.
The Meath countryside is unspoilt and bursting with history while access to Dublin is quick and easy.
Guests will find peace and quiet here. It's the ideal place to relax. A gorgeous private rose garden with a babbling brook for daytime, and books galore and an open fireplace for evenings. Extraordinary archaeological sites to visit in the area and the opportunity for golfing, fishing and equestrian sports are on our doorstep.
This is the best house we have ever styed in (and we do try and search them out).

The fact that we have stayed in the Gate Lodge at least once and usually twice in each of the last nine years gives some indication of how wonderful we think it is.
Tricia and Alastair, N. Ireland
Without question the most relaxing, loveliest and best appointed place we stayed in during our long holiday in Ireland.
