Short breaks of 3 or 4 nights available outside July / August peak season. Changeover day normally Friday, especially for weekly bookings in peak season. The Old Post Office is 50 yards from The Ship Inn pub, & 2 minutes walk to the beach, the house is well equipped and is in an ideal location for walkers, cyclists, and close by for visiting RSPB Minsmere, Aldeburgh, Southwold and other parts of this lovely area of Suffolk. The beautifully presented interior has wonderful character including brick fireplaces housing wood-burners in the lounge and back snug. The kitchen is equipped with a range of timber units with beech worktops and integrated appliances including an electric cooker with extractor, dishwasher, fridge and freezer. It is also equipped with Microwave, kettle, toaster etc... The principal bedrooms enjoy coastal views. The cottage is on 3 levels, the 4th bedroom is at the rear of the property above the snug and accessed via exposed wooden ladder style steps (as per picture) better suited to younger guests. The other 3 bedrooms are accessed via a narrow carpeted spiral stairwell.

Dog's Welcome but we ask that they stay downstairs, we have a stairgate that helps with this.

Normal Changeover over day Friday for weekly bookings in summer peak season.

Notes on accommodation: The Old Post Office is well equipped and provides almost everything you need for a truly enjoyable holiday or break. The central heating and hot water is via an oil fired combination boiler. Hot water is heated on demand so there is no need to worry about when to take a bath or shower. The Old Post Office comes with WIFI The stove in the front room has a damper on the chimney; this needs to be partly open or you will be smoked! The stove in the back room has its controls on the door. When not in use please keep the stove doors shut – this prevents the occasional bird intruder. The instructions for the various appliances throughout the cottage are held inside the large red information folder, which also includes other useful information about the area. The TV in the front room and the back snug both have a built in DVD player, there are some DVD’s for your use in back room. One well behaved pet welcome downstairs (No pets upstairs in the bedrooms) Outside: The property is set back behind a small front garden shingle area. To the rear is a brick paved courtyard which runs along the side of the cottage to French doors opening from the dining room. There is pedestrian access to the rear via the backgate. Parking is on street outside the house. Utility Room: There is a combined Washer / Dryer in the downstairs bathroom. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The Property is cleaned before each rental. Bed linen and towels are included.

Lovely property; fabulous location.

Lovely week spent at The Old Post Office with our 3 young kids. Location is great; the views out to Dunwich beach are stunning. Having The Ship (pub) next door was ideal! Very peaceful, we enjoyed listening to the sea and the odd owl at nighttime. Our kids really enjoyed the back rooms- their 'secret rooms'! There is no parking allocated but that wasn't a problem, plenty of street parking available. The stairs are very steep but there are two stair gates provided. Roger (owner) made booking very easy; would recommend!

We really enjoy staying in this house with the family, it is well equipped and very comfortable. It's great just to get away from it all with the beach close by and pub a few doors away!

Fabulous Stay

Had the most delightful stay - perfect for walking down to the beach. Cycled to Walberswick most days. Well equipped house, would happily return.

Perfect for getting away from everything, playing lots of cards and getting plenty of fresh air. Kids spent a lot of time in the sea with some impressive waves.

Fantastically well stocked kitchen, wouldn't hesitate in recommending it as a holiday stay.

Make sure you visit Mrs T's for fish and chips - get the ferry from Walberswick to Southwold and it is right there. Also had a lovely couple of visits to The Anchor in Walberswick

We're really looking forward to get back to Dunwich ourselves in September, it really is a lovely part of the world, although we've never actually done any cycling ourselves (yet). We find there are multiple interesting walks, but as we're going with a slow moving Bassett Hound cycling is not on the agenda. All the best Roger & Zoe

Lovely place for a complete chill out !

Having never been to Suffolk previously this was a perfect setting for us. Beach is 2 mins away for early morning dog walks and Dunwich is a great base to visit all the pretty villages and towns.

We took 2 boys aged 11 and 15, ideal as they could have a bedroom each, the 15 year old bagging the snug and bedroom, great for them to escape for their own bit of space. Also loved the kitchen, big kitchen table so all the family can sit and eat or play cards etc.

Can recommend the Ship Inn for good food and local ales, something for everyone on the menu.

Favourite places were Southwold and Woodbridge with a lovely walk along the river.

A lovely place to go for a complete chill out in a lovely setting !!

We really love the area, its a complete change of pace, so relaxing to stay and unwind, plenty of great walks for the dog. Lots of areas of interest with plenty of things to do all within a short drive and only just over 2 hours drive from London.
