Large solar heated private pool with sun-loungers (pool cleaned daily). Pool house with shaded outside space and small table and chairs; ideal for sipping a glass of wine and watching the pool. Large porch with table and chairs and views across the walnut groves. One king size bedroom, one double, one twin one triple room, all en-suite. Downstairs cloakroom. Lablancou retains many original features but is fully modernised for comfort. Wide screen TV with English channels and DVD player. Wood burning stoves and full central heating. In order to retain the homely feel of Lablancou a range of our favourite recipe books is provided in the kitchen and the kitchen is fully equipped for cooks. A selection of paperback books is also provided as are board games, playing cards and dominoes. A set of boules, skittles and quoits are available for playing on the lawn or the gravel parking area. The owners speak English and French and move into another property on the farm for the summer. Full privacy is afforded guests, however the owners are available to help out with recommendations of what to see and do, restaurants to visit and to make bookings for tourist attractions if required. Lablancou is in the commune of Castelnaud, with its appellation of 'one of the most beautiful villages in France'. As well as a majestic chateau, view of Beynac chateau and village across the river, canoeing and bicycle hire it also has a superb patisserie, butcher, general store and several restaurants. All of the major tourist attractions of the Perigord Noir are within a 30-40 minute drive of Lablancou with several including Castelnaud, Beynac, Domme, Marquessac considerably less than that. Our previous guests have enjoyed watching the hot air balloons that often fly over Lablancou and sometimes land nearby. We provide binoculars for watching the wildlife and hare, deer, buzzards and woodpeckers, amongst many others, are often to be seen.

About Graham OTWAY

Since leaving the UK in 2006 I have been renovating the farmhouse at Lablancou and have also learned to farm walnuts. The last 3 years have been spent turning the farm organic and the 2013 crop was the first to be sold with an organic status.

Graham OTWAY purchased this farmhouse in 2006

Why Graham OTWAY chose Perigord Noir

We found the Dordogne was a perfect location with its hot summers and crisp clear winters and we love the contrast between seasons. We wanted a property that was close to the interesting things to see and do in the area and also fulfilled our dream of growing organic food; Lablancou fitted the bill perfectly. It is close to all the amenities, charming villages and chateaux yet remains a tranquil hideaway. On a clear night the view of the stars is breathtaking and we never tire of gazing at the Milky Way and shooting stars when they are around.

The biggest light pollution here is the moon and we provide a telescope for those interested in viewing the stunning night sky.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Having all of the great tourist attractions of the Perigord Noir within a few minutes drive means that there are lots of interesting things to see and do. At the same time Lablancou offers a haven of tranquillity and is the perfect location to relax and enjoy the countryside. There is plenty of space for children to run around and only the occasional car or tractor that passes by.

There are fabulous food and craft markets in a different local town or village each day and they are perfect for wandering around and appreciating French culture and lifestyle.

a haven of tranquility

  • 4 of 5

this property was everything we hoped for, a lovely well maintained and equipped house and pool in a beautiful and peaceful location. within in ten minutes you could be in a number of small villages and towns and within 20 minutes a bustling town like Sarlat. Lots of chateaux and other attractions very close by so you didn't spend hours in the car. the immediate area was also super for walks and bike rides. In fact so perfect we booked again for next year straight away.

The perfect gite getaway

  • 5 of 5

We were warmly welcomed by Graham & Adele after an incredibly long 12hr journey. The gite was a magnificent sight for tired eyes, greeting us with 32degree's of glorious sunshine.

Lablancou was spotless, and very well equipped, as it was a Sunday Graham & Adele very kindly stocked our fridge with local cheeses (goats cheese was out of this world), ham, fresh bread etc, perfect for recharging. The bathrooms were immaculate & the downstairs bedroom & en suite were fit for royalty.

The pool area was fantastic, even in the rain I made sure I used the pool everyday! Whether your staying with family or friends Lablancou's layout is spot on.

The surrounding area of walnut groves were like nothing i could imagine. And very tasty, as were the cherries.

There's lots to do around this area, and a week just didn't like enough time to explore. The local markets are a must, as well as the castles. View points are breathtaking. My favourite place had to be Les Jardins de Marqueyssac, followed by a river boat ride in La Roque-Gageac.

We will defiantly be wanting to return soon, as you couldn't ask for anything better than this. Well done Graham & Adele!

I don't really want to recommend this to anyone else, for fear of not being able to book it again in the school summer holidays!

Graham and Adele made us feel so welcome from the moment we all arrived after a long 9 hour drive from the Chunnel with a 'dodgy car' (Graham was so helpful with trying to get it fixed, with his fluency in French because my pigeon French just did not cut the mustard).

The house is just lovely, very spacious and plenty of inside and outdoor seating (even though we only had to sit in one night watching a thunder and lightening show). The rest of the evenings were spent cooling down in the pool, walking round the local area, drinking, relaxing, reading, playing boules... just what a holiday should be, in two weeks of beautiful sunshine (with the exception of that one day).

The pool was just the right temperature and superbly cleaned and kept hygienic.

The barbeque was used nearly every night, whilst we used the Skymap App to star gaze, whilst crunching on the supply of walnuts that Graham generously provided us with.

I loved the walks in the local lanes in the evening, spotting dear and buzzards.... my idea of heaven! I can't wait to return.

Thank you ever so much,

Fiona Eastham and co (and our family friends who accompanied us Christina Pegler and co)

Fantastic gite in Dordogne

  • 5 of 5

Situated in acres of walnut groves - lablancou is a haven of peace and tranquility.

The house is well equipped with all you could need. The boys loved the space and the pool.

The owners Graham and Adele were welcoming and helpful throughout the whole of our stay. The property is situated near amazing castles and towns with lots to do and engage all ages of groups who stay.

We cannot recommend this gite enough and will absolutely be returning.

Beautiful and relaxing making a perfect holiday.

  • 5 of 5

Lablancou is an amazing gite set in its own beautiful grounds. The gite had everything and more in terms of what you could need. From the well stocked kitchen to the pool house there truly was everything!

The layout of the gite and the patios outside allows families/friends plenty of room to enjoy their holiday. We stayed for two weeks and it rained for the first week!!!! But we still had a wonderful holiday. When the sun came out we realised there was always a patio in sun and one in shade so you could always relax comfortably.

The pool is beautifully kept and the pool house with its own fridge is a bonus!!!!

Graham and Adele were the perfect hosts, so friendly and always there when we needed them. We truly had the most wonderful and relaxing holiday and we hope to go back soon!

An Amazing Place

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Lablancou for 2 weeks with our 2 young children and 3 of our friends, and what a fantastic time we had!

From the minute we arrived Graham and Adele were welcoming and attentive. Throughout our whole holiday nothing was too much trouble for them and their home was lovely, it has everything you could possibly need and more!

We had horrendous weather for our first week but this did not dampen our stay, we had more than enough to keep us occupied in the house and we also explored a lot of the neighbouring towns and villages.

There are ample cafes and restaurants around, and a number of tourist attractions/days out to be had. The local markets are a most (our favourites were St. Cyprien and Domme) and we went to the zoo with the kids and had a great time experiencing the close encounters with the Lemurs and Spider Monkeys.

Overall, we had an amazing time, which Graham and Adele definitely contributed to, and we would love to return again in the future.
