Perfect cottage

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was perfect for us (2 adults, 7 yr old & 4 yr old). It was a lovely, peaceful location that was close to Folkestone (where we were visiting friends) yet far enough out to feel like you were in the countryside (& away from the noisy seagulls!). The kitchen is well equipped & we didn't come across anything we were short of & it was especially lovely to have a self catering cottage where there are empty cupboards in the kitchen in order to put food! The sofas were comfy & the beds were comfy. The garden was great for the children. We had a great week & hope to visit again.

A real gem of a property

  • 5 of 5

Just spent an idyllic week at Walnut Cottage. The owners, Jane and Glenn are extremely friendly and welcoming. The cottage was warm and toasty and contained absolutely everything we needed for a perfect holiday and more. There were special touches everywhere such as tea, coffee, milk and fresh flowers to welcome us. The rooms were clean and fresh, the towels soft and fluffy and the beds comfy, the whole house was beautifully presented with the added bonus of fantastic views over the peaceful countryside at the rear. The owners thoroughly deserve the gold standard certificate that was awarded to them. We were ideally situated for exploring all of the Kent coast, Canterbury, London or even the continent. Whatever the weather, there are always plenty of things to do or see right on the doorstep. The cottage is an all year round destination in our view. It would be an ideal place to spend a cosy Christmas, or like us, to get away for an off-peak week of rest and relaxation as well as the more obvious summer bucket and spade holidays with the little ones in tow (been there, done that !) as the lovely sands beneath Coronation ;Parade at Folkestone are a short drive away. Fish and chips, ice cream, bracing walks along the seafront, stunning sunsets, this area really does have it all. Thanks Jane and Glenn for letting us into your lovely home, hope to be back soon. Jools and Jim

A delightful holiday cottage

  • 5 of 5

Walnut Cottage was warm (important, as this was a typically British June!), and comfortable. The rooms were spacious and clean and we had everything we needed, including a warm welcome from the owners who live next door. It was a perfect base to explore inland or around the coast of Kent, with excellent road links. We were treated to some stunning sunsets looking out across the fields behind the cottage and enjoyed the local wildlife, including a daily visit by a Pheasant and his mate! We hope to return.

Walnut Cottage

  • 4 of 5

A well appointed, spacious and clean cottage in a quiet country location. The owners, who live next door, made us very welcome. The large, well equipped, kitchen was much appreciated by my wife.

The family appreciated the wi-fi access to research activity possibilities, as with many country areas 3G phone provision was poor to non existent though 2G was fine on EE.

Parking is fine. Road links are excellent with fast, easy access to the surrounding area and its attractions such as Dover Castle and Canterbury.

There is a Lidl supermarket on the Hawkinge bypass and a Tesco Express in Hawkinge itself, a few minutes down the road.

There is a large pleasant garden, but since this is not enclosed small children would need supervision.

No hesitation in recommending this cottage. We would be very happy to return if and when we return to Kent for our holiday.
