Bungalow in Polzeath, Cornwall, England - Secluded Sunny Position In Quiet Cul-de-sac With A Sheltered 300m Walk To The Beach And Shops

Sleeps 6 in 1 double and 2 twin bedded room. New open plan kitchen dining room and sitting room, bathroom, laundry room, outside deck and small sunny rear garden with outside shower for swimmers and surfers. Off road parking in front of garage. A Rayburn cooker is on when the weather is cool and along with the wood burner keep the house warm all year round but if needed the double bedroom has a night storage heater, the others have electric heaters. The house is set in a secluded cul-de-sac behind the magnificent surfing beach of Polzeath and its shops and restaurants which are directly accessible via a 300m private footpath through a sheltered valley. Rock with its river estuary for sailing and the golf courses at St Enodoc and the Point and windsurfing at Daymer Bay are a short distance away. The Coastal Path offers a variety of walks with spectacular scenery north to Port Isaac or south to Trevose Head. The Lost Gardens of Heligan, the Eden Project, National Trust properties such as Lanhydrock House, and the Tate gallery at St Ives are all within easy reach.

About Kamila Surma

We have been holidaying in Cornwall for over 30 years and bought Northern Lights over ten years ago when we decided we wanted to spend more time down here. As keen surfers and sailors we love the the area and have many friends living down here. It offers a host of outdoor activities for all the family who return year after year with old and new friends.

The relaxed atmosphere of the area is reflected in the house which is simple, comfortable and (with the Rayburn cooker) warm all year round. It is quiet sheltered and sunny but what really sold it to us is the walk down to the beach which means you never need to get in the car and is great for young children.

Perfect for family holidays!

We stayed at Northern Lights this June and loved it! It is perfect for holidays with the whole family. The house is spacious and very cozy, with all the equipment and comfort you might need. The kids especially loved the outdoor shower and the garden, I loved the dish washer and tumble dryer ;-)

The location is wonderful as well: at the end of a quiet lane, just a short walk from the beach and the local shops. The manager Kamila was very friendly and helpful.

So all in all it was a real pleasure to stay there and we would very much like to come back - even though the journey from Germany has been such a long one. Northern Lights and Polzeath are worth it!

Lovely holiday house in beautiful Cornwall

We have been holidaying in Cornwall for years and this year decided to explore Polzeath. Northern Lights provided a great base with what felt like a secret/private footpath to the beach from the tucked away location of the house. There are great pubs and walks in all directions as well as plenty of space at Northern Lights to chill out after a long day. We were big fans of the hot outdoor shower and the rear patio for evening BBQ's and the front balcony is a lovely setting for al fresco breakfasts. In general a very comfortable house with a welcoming seaside feel to it. We will be back!

Best location in Cornwall for a fun family week

I have been to Northern Lights to stay many times over the last 10 years with my kids and it is honestly my favourite place in Cornwall. A lovely house with spacious bedrooms and a large kitchen and sitting area. Although there are many great things to say about this house, one of the best is the location on a beautiful but quiet and safe street with the beach just a two minute walk away down a lovely wooded path (along with shops and rental kit you may need for any of the water sports). A perfect, relaxing place for a week’s holiday with the family.

Great space for a surf mini-break!

The house was in a great position, just a few minutes’ walk from the beach, the pub and lots of beautiful walks. It was ideal for a surfing weekend but there was also plenty of space in the house if we wanted to stay indoors and watch films in front of the fire. Large sitting room with a brand new kitchen and good sized bedrooms. The house was also very warm even for November and the outdoor shower was brilliant for cleaning off/warming up after a surf!

Well situated property with good living space

Comfortable property with good wifi and easy access to the beach. Bedrooms fairly small, but excellent, large living space and good facilities. Only one toilet, but a great outdoor shower in addition to the inside bath and shower, and useful outdoor utility area. We would have liked a covered area to store bikes as it was quite wet when we were there but this would not have mattered if the weather had been kinder. We were not familiar with the cooker/hob although they worked very well once you got used to them. Very helpful manager and we will happily return. Recommended.

Coast/Beach:

Polzeath is the nearest beach, well known for the good surf with life guards during the summer months

Daymer Bay is a superb sandy beach which is 15 minutes walk or just a few minutes in the car where there is a big car park.

In between the two is Grenaway which has lots of big Rock Pools at low tide which the children love.

You can walk from Daymer along the sandy beach all the way to Rock where there is a ferry which takes you to Padstow. Or it is a 5 minute drive to Rock

Travel:

Newquay Airport - 30 minutes drive

Bodmin train station - 30 minutes drive
