About Isobel Leman
I have strong ties to Tighnabruaich where I was born and spent a very contented childhood. It is with great pleasure that I now watch my five grandsons revelling in the freedom to pursue outdoor adventures from the cottage bought by their great, great grandfather in 1911 - sailing, canoeing, fishing, swimming, raft racing, cycling, walking and playing tennis and golf. As my brother Jim wrote in his song Always Argyll - "Always Argyll, long may the memories linger"
Isobel Leman purchased this Cottage in 1911

Lovely cosy cottage in a beautiful spot
Tighnabruaich is a lovely place in and lovely part of the world. The village is welcoming and there is a lot to do and see just on the doorstep.
The cottage is a real home from home and has everything you need for a break away from the world. Although if you are addicted to your phone or tablet it also has a good broadband connection.
We regularly stay in cottages and we would put this one right at the top of our favourites. We will definitely be back!
It was a delight to stay here at Christmas. Beautiful cottage, very well maintained. Very cosy especially in the evenings with the wood fire in the living room. Great views from the cottage and situated in a lovely part of Argyll. Isobel thank you very much for making us fell very welcome.

Wonderful cosy cottage by the sea.
The Knowe is a delightful, warm and cosy cottage near the sea in Argyll. Spotlessly clean and offering all the mod cons, it was perfect for our stay. We would highly recommend it to anyone travelling to this beautiful part of the world!
Beautiful, charming cottage with stunning views..
We had a fabulous stay at Knowe cottage. It's well equipped, clean, homely and cosy. The wood burner was fab in cold weather! Beds all comfortable with quality linens. The garden large and brilliant for dogs or children. The only possible issue is it's not fully enclosed, (No drive gates) so need to supervise.
Set in a beautiful location, just a stones throw from the beach and 5 minute walk to local shops/restaurants. A great base for exploring the stunning Cowal Peninsula. Recommend the short drive and walk to Ostel beach. Very pretty, quite flat walk too so easy for kids or those less able.
The owner Isobel was very welcoming, unobtrusive and a great source of local information. The recommendation to visit Portavadie spa/pool was great, especially on a wet day.
I would thoroughly recommend Knowe cottage for a quiet break. A real wee gem in Tighnabruiach! I hope to return again.
Beautiful location , modern facilities but with a homely traditional feel and excellent value for money.
Home from home
. We were met by Isobel who gave us a warm welcome and showed us around the cottage. It had everything we needed and best of all, the beds were comfortable. We love Tighnabruaich and this cottage was in a lovely position to see the sea from all the windows. Would recommend this cottage.
The cottage is about one hundred yards from the beach. The beautiful Kilbride Bay with its extensive sands and magnificent views to Arran is a ten minute drive away.
Tighnabruaich is easily accessible from Scotland's central belt via the A82 and A83 This scenic route takes you along the banks of Loch Lomond and over the dramatic Rest and be Thankful.
Many visitors utilise the M8 route and Gourock's frequent ferry service to Dunoon ( 40 mins from the village).
Other nearby ferry services, Portavadie(15 min drive) to Tarbert and Colintraive (25 min drive) to Rhubodach, make day trips to the Kintyre Peninsula and Bute an interesting possibility.
