Notes on prices:
In the B&B we offer a single occupancy discount.
We visited in August 2015 with our three small children.
Owners - charming, helpful, discreet English owners. They have a little dog and breed birds. They clearly love the life down there - and I'm with them 100%! They live in the larger of the two properties, the gite is the smaller one shown.
Location - superb. In the middle of so much to see and do. There's a theme park, JacouPark, across the road, but there's enough distance and trees for this not be be a problem. The kids absolutely loved it there and we had fun too! Definitely worth a visit. But take lunch!
Cottage outside - as stunning as the pictures online - really so very pretty - well maintained, the grounds are well loved and planted with gorgeous, colourful flowers. There are three or four bodies of water (ponds) around so watch out with small kids. But there are fish and all sorts so with grownups, they love taking a peek!
Cottage inside - nice and comfortable. A small kitchen (who wants to cook anyway?!), a modern downstairs bathroom and three bedrooms with small double beds upstairs. One of the rooms has an open side on the landing of the stairs - as much as the kids wanted it, we didn't feel late night fumblings in the dark for the loo and kids mixed well with an open space so we took that instead! There's also the added benefit of an upstairs loo, too! Phew!
Pool - honestly the best pool I've been in on a holiday - so warm it was like stepping into a bath. It is cleaned with oxygen rather than chlorine so the water is very soft on skin and eyes. It's not huge, but it was big enough for me and the three kids.
Word of note - I hadn't appreciated that the owners also run a B&B from their home. We hadn't been made aware that another family of five had rented the B&B from the Wednesday of our week down there so we did not have exclusive use of the pool which we had believed we did.
Les Petite Bressettes offers a self catering cottage whilst Les Bressettes offers B&B (Chambre d'hote) in two bedrooms in the main house
Set in the heart of the Dordogne and within easy reach of all the area has to offer from the caves, chateaux and vineyards to the canoeing and fishing on the Vezere and Dordogne rivers.
The Arcachon Basin is only 2 hours away and we often go for a daytrip as the water is lovely and warm and the seafood ,especially noted for oysters, is wonderful
Airports: Flights arrive regularly from the UK to Bergerac and Brive airports (about 1 hour away) and to Bordeaux and Limoges airports (about 2 hours away).
A list of car hire firms can be sent on request. to see all the area has to offer a car is recommended.
We drive down from Calais in around 8 hours but there are closer ports
If you don't want to drive pick up from either airport and escorted trips to places of interest can be provided by arrangement.
Le Bugue is 10km away and I go every day for fresh bread and pastries - it has a range of shops, restaurants, and activities.
