This gorgeous house provides luxury accommodation for 16-19 people in 7 bedrooms. Cedar hot tub with amazing views and lovely private courtyard overlooking the sea and beaches. Private steps to beach. Fully centrally heated and recently renovated East Rock is a truly wonderful house to enjoy for a special celebration or holiday. Fantastic modern kitchen stretching the full length of this large house provides outstanding facilities and a marvellous communal gathering place. Two full length double glass doors from kitchen open onto undercover patio, hot tub and the courtyard. Sit out and drink in the view of our award winning beaches, fantastic views of the islands and sea from the balcony leading off the formal drawing room too. Full internet wifi throughout the house. Very centrally located with incredible views over South beach, Nelson himself stayed here in 1802. Tenby recently (Nov 2014) won the silver award for 'Best UK Tourist Resort', East Rock is at the heart of this pretty coastal town with its four beaches, excellent cafes and pubs and its iconic harbour. You don't need your car, everything is within very easy walking distance. Owner will provide very detailed help on parking, access and is very happy to give ideas for day trips, outings and local eateries.

Why Erik or Hannah Arentz chose Pembroke, Tenby, Saundersfoot & The South Coast

We had been looking for the 'perfect' house in Tenby for nearly 5 years. When East Rock came on the market we knew it was special and hopped on a plane to view it. Bought it within a fortnight of it going on the market and have spent the time since very extensively renovating it. Completed internally in May 2014, externally in December of the same year. We live close by in Tenby so it is easy for us to keep an eye on the house and fix any little glitches.

What makes this house unique

Best located hot tub in Wales probably! Truly outstanding views both from the hot tub and the sheltered Courtyard. East Rock guests also enjoy the large under cover outside patio area between the kitchen and hot tub which provides a great place to sit out and enjoy the views even if the weather isn't too great!

Following the French revolution the aristocracy correctly felt it was unsafe to enjoy their usual 'Grand Tour' voyages in Europe. Two brothers in law from London decided to build themselves adjoining beach houses in Tenby and they took the best location in town, on the promontory between Castle and South beaches with incredible views. Probably built in 1798, East Rock hosted probably the most famous Briton of his time in 1802. Nelson visited along with William and Emma Hamilton, a blue plaque on the house marks their visit. Many other blue plaques in town record the visits of the other famous people who have enjoyed visits to Tenby, from Henry VII to George Eliot or Beatrix Potter plus many artists inspired by the views!

Beautiful house with a great kitchen for parties

This house is ideal for groups of people. We were celebrating a 50th birthday and didn't really move from the kitchen. Showers and toilets on each floor and great size bedrooms. The view was stunning and you wake up to the sound of the sea. Hot tub was great. Will definitely stay there again

Best house in the best location in Tenby

We booked this house for a long weekend to celebrate my Fiance's 20th Birthday with a group of 16 family members from the age of 4 to 58 plus one very well behaved dog.

It was just an absolute perfect weekend in a perfect house, Hannah was a star she placed all the 30th decorations i sent her before hand around the property so it was a great surprise when the birthday boy got there. She gave us a full tour of the house which was extremely helpful.

Everything has been thought of in the house we didnt need to take anything with us all cutlery, glasses, plates etc are more than what the capacity of the house can hold. There is a docking system in the kitchen so we didn't need to take our own, we spent the majority of our time in the kitchen area playing party game.

Cant wait to book to go again!!!

Beautiful period property in a fantastic action.

We booked East Rock House for a ladies get away. There were 15 of us, three separate groups of friends, with just one person knowing everyone.

The weekend was so relaxing. Everyone did their own thing throughout the day and we all met up later to enjoy a few sophisticated drinks on the terrace. The house seemed to soak up people like a sponge. We never felt over crowded or queued for bathrooms.

The house is very comfortable and beautifully renovated. Hannah was most welcoming and the house has clearly been a labour of love for her.

Tenby is a great location and we were right in the heart of it. All restaurants and bars were within short walk. It was a real bonus for me to leave my car in Sainsbury's on Friday evening and not go anywhere near it again until Monday morning.

As a diverse group, we all had different interests. There was the active group who enjoyed the coastal walks, the foodies who made use of the cafes and restaurants and the lazy bunch who chilled out at South Beach Bar and Grill, sipping gin cocktails overlooking the sea while the sun went down.

A great weekend was had by all in this lovely property in a charming seaside town, in the best location. Walking barefoot on the beach to paddle in the moonlight was priceless.

Amazing property, stunning location.

We booked East Rock House for a family gathering to celebrate lots of special birthdays. From my first point of contact with Hannah (over 12 months ago!) she was brilliant in terms of communication and information. The house looked amazing in the photos and the previous reviews were great but the real thing is even better! This really must be the best location in Tenby - the house backs onto a fabulous beach which the kids loved and fronts onto a good pub which the grown ups loved! The house itself is equipped and decorated to a very high standard and it was spotlessly clean with gorgeous fluffy towels! The hot tub was a real winner and very hot! The only glitch I could report to Hannah was that we couldn't find any egg cups in the kitchen!! The only other thing I would say is that if you are bringing a dog, they are not allowed on the beach at the back of the house in the summer months and you have to walk through town and down the esplanade quite a way to be able to let them off on South Beach - not much of a problem - it's a nice walk. I would highly recommend East Rock House and would love to come back and stay longer and explore more of the area - we only had 3 days and no where near long enough in this beautiful place. Thank you Hannah for making our Tenby trip a truly memorable experience!

The egg cups were in the cupboard door with the cutglass sherry glasses all along! We do make sure East Rock is very well equipped, some folks like to do lots of serious cooking there - others make use of all our cafes, pubs and restaurants on the doorstep and only make themselves a cup of coffee in the house!

We booked this property for a family get together with family as far afield as Australia . From first contacting Hannah the owner to our arrival she was very helpful and friendly. She told us everything we needed to know. On arrival at the house she gave us the grand tour, and it really is grand. From the kitchen to the crows nest it is perfect. The views are stunning. The house is fully equipped to a very high standard. We cooked a full Sunday roast for us all and found everything we needed. We didn't feel once like there was too many of us in the house, sometimes we struggled to find each other. The beds were comfy and all bathrooms very clean. The location is perfect. If you don't want to there is no need to take your car out, everything is on your doorstep . There is no parking at the property but we parked our car a five minute walk away in the multi storey which cost £18 for the week. Great value. There are numerous pubs and restaurants on your doorstep. Would also recommend the trip to caldey island. The private steps down to the beach were a great bonus. We enjoyed many an hour in the hot tub with a glass of wine taking in the views. Would definitely go again and would not hesitate to recommend Hannah and her beautiful house.

This is the perfect house for a family or friends get together.

The position of the house is amazing, you literally have sea views from most rooms. The house is huge and done out to a very high standard but still has a very warm, traditional, historic feel about it, I had goose bumps on arrival.

The balcony's are amazing we really didn't want to leave the house at all. When you are sat out on the terrace overlooking the beach, with the sun shinning down there really is no better place.

The house is very spacious especially the kitchen area which was my favourite place, it is the whole basement floor, with patio doors that open out onto the terrace with a hot tub. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you would need.

Hannah the owner is great too and gives a great tour with loads of information to ensure a perfect stay.

Everyone can enjoy the lovely house and the town/beaches/views however old or young. Special interest holidays:

Lots of surfing, fishing and sailing opportunities. The Pembrokeshire Coast Path provides fantastic walking opportunities. Coasteering very popular with adrenaline junkies. Lots of History in the town and nearby castles.


East Rock is built on the promontory between South Beach and Castle beach. These are literally under the house, which has its own access steps to the sand! Sheltered Harbour beach is a minute or so's walk away and North beach five minutes walk. Tenby is considered " the jewel in the crown" of the gorgeous Pembrokeshire National park, Britains' only Coastal National park. There are very many stunning world class beaches (most 'blue flag' standard, Europe's top accolade) along this 186 mile path.


A car is not necessary unless you want to explore Pembrokeshire, though most people arrive by driving west on the M4, A48, A40 then A477. We are c. 2 hours from the Severn bridge crossing into Wales.

Tenby has a train station.

The town is about 4 hours west of London and 3 hours 40 minutes from Heathrow. Nearest airports are Cardiff (92miles), Bristol (131 miles) and Birmingham (c.180 miles).

We are close to the ferries to Ireland at Pembroke Dock and Fishguard.


Caldey island is a lovely boat ride, catch the boat from the harbour.

Day trip ideas: St Davids, the smallest city in Britain, with its amazing cathedral is an hour north. Laugharne with its castle and Dylan Thomas links is just 30 minutes away. Many castles and gardens nearby to visit.

Child oriented trips: Oakwood Adventure park, Blue Lagoon Water park, Heatherton activity park, Anna's Welsh zoo, the Dinosaur park and our favourite, Folly Farm Zoo are all short (5-15 minute) drives away.

Further Details:

Very easy walking distance to shops (Tescos express, two bakeries, butchers, fishmongers, greengrocers, some good independent gift shops.) Big Sainsburys on outskirts of town. All the big banks just up the road in Tudor Square. Masses of pubs, cafes and restaurants within very easy walking distance. (Recommend booking in high season, owners happy to advise.)

We ask for a 30% deposit with the remainder being due 8 weeks before the holiday. A £400 fully refundable breakages/ damage deposit to be paid before arrival. Failure to follow guidelines on keepin gthe hot tub clean and/or complaints from neighbours as to excessive noise late at night will affect repayment of deposit.

Notes on accommodation: Usual changeover day is Friday. (Negotiable out of high season.) Strictly no smoking indoors please. Well behaved pets are very welcome but restricted to the ground floor, lower ground floor and courtyard garden, please be scrupulous in clearing up after them and don't let them on the sofas! Parking in Tenby is difficult and there is NO parking at the house, which is in the heart of the medieval town centre. We recommend dropping off bags and then parking at the municipal park in town (£12/week). Many of our guests find they have little or no use for the car as everything is on the doorstep. (We do sometimes have access to a parking place about 150m away, please enquire of owners if this is of interest.) Outside: Enclosed courtyard garden with teak table and chairs and barbecue. Large balcony terrace off the drawing room. Both with fabulous views. Covered outdoor area outside kitchen under the balcony. Fabulous awardwinnning Riviera Cedarwood hot tub in courtyard, bring your swimming costume/ dressing gown! Utility Room: Situated at the end of the open plan kitchen. A second dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier and second fridge. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bath towels and linen plus tea towels and dishcloths are all provided in the price. All beds made up. End of stay cleaning included in price. Beach towels can be provided if needed. Electricity and gas included in price. Dogs no extra charge:) Other: The Drawing room, Trafalgar suite and the hallways on the ground floor/1st floor have many lovely, original Georgian features; fireplaces, cornices, ceiling roses, hall tables and mirrors.
