not able to stay>>>>>>
although we were unable to stay as intended - we thought we should let the public know how trustworthy and straight forward the owner of the property is. nothing was a problem and is very easy to deal with. so refreshing to meet such a character!!!
well done Javier :-)
birding in the picos mountains
this property is set in very attractive surroundings where there are plenty of wonderful walks to do with birds scenery and many wild flowers. The property is exactly as it is portrayed in the advert. It is well equipped including washing machine and dish washer. the property has been modernised and is well looked after. it is very clean and comfortable. There are pleasant sitting areas outside the property with lovely views of the mountains.Javier, the owner is extremely helpful in every way. He was our guide for most days and he took us to some really beautiful locations, where we saw good birds including 9 species of raptors. He is also very knowledgeable and knows lots of the history of the area.
Javier also took us to the supermarket for shopping etc. He made all the travel arrangements to and from Santander for us. He also arranged for our evening meals to be brought up from a local restaurant every evening . They were delicious and even included a bottle of wine. Thanks to Javier we had a memorable time . We have been twice and stayed in both appartments . We hope to go again sometime. If you want a nice relaxing holiday with plenty of walking this is a really good place and we have already reccommended it to friends
Hi friends. Thank you very much for your words.
It was really nice to share with you these beautiful birdwatching days.
All the best
Wonderful location, loverly cottage
The location is fantastic. The view from the little area in front of the cottage and and from the balcony is just stunning. We sat out every evening watching the mountain until the sun went down. We could see the griffon vultures circling around the peak. We also saw woodpecker several times close to the front of the cottage, and many other birds.
The cottage shares a drive with another property, but we hardly saw anyone, it felt secluded. The main road is about 0.5 km and is an excellent route to either end of the Picos region.
We went to the area for the walking, we had so many fantastic walks (using the Sunflower book for the Picos de Europa) and we stayed out most of the day, but it was lovely to return to the cottage each night as we looked forward to sitting out.
The only thing I would point out is that is not within easy walking of shops or restaurants. This did not bother us as we cooked most of our meals in the well equipped kitchen. We did take the owner's advice on local restaurants and had an excellent meal at a small restaurant about 1km from the cottage.
I highly recommend the Rio Aliso Cottage.
