Large family home with ample room for 8/9 people. Renovated for holiday letting with all amenities needed for a wonderful seaside holiday - close to the town and beach and Swanage Steam Railway. 4 large double bedrooms and large reception area with dining seating for up to 10 and comfy TV leisure area. Conservatory for casual relaxation. Small outdoor area, at the front with picnic table and parking for 2 cars at the rear. PLEASE NOTE: We operate on a Friday to Friday basis especially in the peak season

Why Kathy Farrell chose Purbeck

The house, Capstone, was first purchased by our mum in 1971 and at first we lived there while at school and returned regularly once we left the area. Now that ownership of the house has passed to ourselves we have made significant alterations to bring Capstone up to a standard for luxury holiday let. However we still love to visit Swanage and enjoy the comfort of Capstone.

What makes this house unique

Capstone is so convenient for the proximity to the town centre and beach, and not only that, for its 2 parking spaces that mean 2 families can enjoy using the house without worrying about parking.

An enjoyable return visit to Capstone - June 2016!

We thoroughly enjoyed our return visit to Capstone. The location must be one of the very best in Swanage, being near to the beach, shops, the wonderful steam railway and with parking for 2 x large vehicles. Capstone is an extremely well equipped, comfortably furnished spacious house, which is ideal for larger families or friends. Our family (age range from 67 years to 18 months) are very likely to return in 2017!

Utility Room: Washing machine, small tumble drier Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Good quality Egyptian Cotton linen and towels provided. Property is cleaned once a week. No beach towels provided. Other: Conservatory with small bistro set (5 chairs) Quiet area on top landing with comfortable chair and library (books can be borrowed or exchanged)

A clean, well-equipped house.. .

The house was perfectly situated , with the park , station , shops and beach nearby. We had everything we needed and were very comfortable. I would like to book the hose for next year when I know the half term dates. The wine, milk and cookies were a lovely surprise on arrival.

Family holiday at Capstone

We have just returned from our third holiday at Capstone!

Our family, consisting of three generations thoroughly enjoy our holidays in this well maintained, very spacious and extremely well equipped holiday home. The accommodation is always spotlessly clean and welcoming. Capstone has a wonderful location, very close to the beach and the famous steam railway and has the added bonus of two good sized parking spaces.

The owners of Capstone, Kathy and Helen, continue to go that extra mile to ensure their guests have an enjoyable, comfortable and relaxing holiday.

Very spacious, comfortable and beautifully clean!

Large, comfortable house with everything you could need. I have stayed in lots of properties in Swanage but this one was special as owned by a family that originates from Swanage and had local celebs in the family!!

Property was spacious and excellent location being only a couple of minutes walk to the beach/town.

Very clean and spacious property, well equipped with everything you need. Great location with beach and town within easy walking distance. Bus station and steam railway a couple of minutes walk away. Could have easily stayed a week and not used the car once! Used our Devon bus passes to travel free on the Breezer to Bournemouth and Poole for the day.

Our stay in Swanage

We were a family of 7 Adults. Our stay at Capstone House in Swanage was excellent with the property beautifully presented and spotlessly clean. Very comfortable beds and lounge room furniture which enabled us to relax, unwind and enjoy our stay The house was of generous proportions with everything we could possible need. The location was fabulous, close to town and the beach. An excellent experience for all of us enhanced by the thoughtfulness of Christmas decorations and good information about kitchen equipment that enabled us to plan for our Christmas dinner .

500m - 5 minutes walk maximum to the main Swanage beachfront with its award winning beach. 3.5 miles to Studland beach. Fantastic walking along the coast from Swanage in both directions - to Studland or to Durlston and the Jurassic Coast


Swanage is served by National Express coaches daily and Bournemouth is accessible by bus too. You can park up and never touch your car just going to the beach but it's a wonderful area to explore using a car - many wonderful walks and areas to visit along the Jurassic coast. The Swanage Railway runs excursions past Corfe Castle so you can visit Corfe and walk back. Also the Railway does specials like Thomas the Tank engine, and on-board Dining events - check their website for details.


Studland 5 miles. Corfe Castle 4 miles. Wareham 9 miles. Bournemouth via the Studland ferry 10 miles. Poole via Studland ferry 10 miles. Lulworth 12 miles. Monkey world 15 miles. Bovington Tank Museum 15 miles. Dorchester 20 miles.

Further Details:

Swanage has many good restaurants, two local supermarkets (short walking distance in town), theatre/cinema, several local banks with ATMs

Lots of excellent pubs in the area too - information left in the property for you.

Diving outfit on the pier in Swanage for scuba diving trips - Swanage Pier is a renowned diving site!

Many boat operators near Swanage Pier operate coastal sight seeing or fishing trips

For wildlife, Durlston Country Park is 1.5 miles from the house (possible to walk as well as drive there). RSPB Reserve Arne is 10 miles away outside Corfe Castle - wonderful for wildlife and great views of Poole Harbour.

Many great weekend festivals held in Swanage each year, from Jazz, Folk and Blues weekends to Comedy and Walking Festivals - check out local websites for information.

Booking Notes:
If you are interested in booking the house or have any questions please email the owners through the Owners Direct web site. A completed booking form (provided by the owners) and 25% of the total cost is required to secure your booking with the balance due 8 weeks prior to your stay.

Changeover Day:
Friday in high season; Friday/Monday out of high season i.e. weekend/weekday breaks available - please contact owners for prices
Property must be vacated by 10am on day of departure. On arrival, property will be available from 3pm.

Notes on prices:
Please check the dates & price for your chosen week(s), and contact us to confirm a booking by telephone or email.
We require a non refundable deposit of 25% of the total holiday if booked prior to 8 weeks of the stay. The balance is due 8 weeks before the holiday. We also require a refundable £100 damage/deposit with the final balance. This is refunded 7 days after check out. Should the holiday be booked within 8 weeks then we would require the full amount to be paid at the time of the booking
