|Minimum Stay||7 nights|
An imposing stone house in a peaceful countryside location, renovated to a very high standard with a large, saltwater 11x5m heated pool (new for 2015!) and spectacular views over open countryside, vineyards and hills.
Perfect for large groups or families who wish to get away from it all but still want the luxuries of home. Owned and designed by a family with small children and so plenty of baby facilities to hand. We also have a vetted, local childminder who can help you have a rest in the day or babysit in the evenings.
Laze by the heated pool, which is fenced and safety-gated, or watch the children splash in the gently sloping beach area. Take shade under the large pergola on the top terrace with a book, catch the summer breeze from the hammock or enjoy a game of boules or table tennis if you're feeling energetic! A 12 seater American oak table makes outside dining a real pleasure, especially straight from the large gas BBQ!
Inside, large comfy sofas, books and games mean you can relax indoors as well as out. Not to mention the free standing bathtub, drench showers, kingsize beds, crisp sheets and fluffy bath sheets.
Should you wish to return to the outside world, the lovely medieval towns of Figanieres, Lorgues and Tourtour are all close by, not to mention incredible restaurants and some of the best Provencal markets in the Var. Wonderful walking, pedalos and rafting in the spectacular Gorges de Verdon. Perfect for nature lovers or someone who want a bit of adventure.
You can cook up a storm on the large gas BBQ or in the wonderfully appointed kitchen - or ask our caterer to do that for you! We can even leave welcome meals in the fridge on your arrival or prepare picnics for sunny days out.
In the evening, enjoy a cocktail in the last of the sun on the lower terrace lounging area by the pool which is lit at night before you head inside for supper. The world is your oyster!
We are a young family with 2 children under 2 and a large extended family of all ages, so we understand the needs of families travelling abroad. I hail from Yorkshire but now live in London ...and we spend as much time at the house as we can!
Helen Bush purchased this villa in 2012
We have a strong connection with France having lived here for some time and many good friends also live in the area. We had searched for some time for the perfect place and a friend sent us the property details. We were married in Taradeau, fell in love with the house and bought it on our honeymoon!
The house itself is stunning and the views are outstanding. We loved the story of the building, the relaxed atmosphere and the beautiful stone floors. The pool we think is incredible and having travelled extensively, is one of the best we have swum in. We have worked hard to provide things to ensure our guests can make the most of their time with us, including babysitting, "drop off dinners" for when you arrive and plenty of baby gear to take the weight off you (and your suitcases!)
My favourite thing after a day in the pool is to enjoy a large glass of the local rose on the huge pergola sofa, usually followed by a game or 3 of petanque!
"Thank you Helen for a truly 'splendide' holiday! A quiet, picturesque (and friendly!) village. House is very spacious, perfect for families. Wonderful views of the region. Garden very well equipped for adults and children - particularly enjoyed the table tennis. Swimming pool was just perfect for the kids, to the extent that our daughter cracked learning to swim! We ate outside every evening and very much enjoyed how the garden is set up to do this. House itself is amazing: spacious, tasteful, clean, very well equipped. All bedrooms a good size and the en-suites are a real bonus. Beautiful furnishings. We had a ball..and we are booked for next year!!

"Helen has created a wonderful home in which to relax and see the real Provence. We visited so many incredible places with her guidance and had such a relaxing (and sunny!) time for our first visit to the area - we hope to be back soon."

"What a lovely holiday. Just perfect." M&L Dixon 2013
Bastide des Esperels fulfilled all our expectations and more!
It is a beautiful house which is superbly equipped to cater for all different ages. The youngest members of our party who are 3 and 3 months did not leave the house the entire week, they were completely content there (as were their parents!).
We will definitely return.
We were a group of five families, celebrating a 40th birthday, with three children, three babies and two bumps. The holiday was wonderful because there was something for everyone. Our son was in heaven swimming all day, playing table tennis, pétanque and jumping on the trampoline! We had BBQs outside, chose wine at the local vineyards (which really beats the supermarket) and explored the region. I cannot wait to come back. I've told so many people about it that now I'm worried it will be permanently booked up!
I cannot recommend this beautiful place highly enough - in fact, I am starting to regret every other holiday I’ve ever had…! The thought and care that has gone into this home to make it perfect for families and friends is evident at every turn; a gated heated pool, a pagoda overlooking the stunning view, a fully equipped kitchen (with a whole fridge that can be dedicated to wine, thankfully), huge indoor and outdoor dining areas for entertaining in all weathers, comfy, stylish and quiet rooms (the baby monitors reached as far as the patio!) and literally everything a small person could ever need – check out the inventory on the website if you don’t believe me! Thank you thank you xxx
A totally fabulous holiday, thank you Helen. We stayed in the villa for a week with 4 other couples, all with children aged from 0 to 5 years. The villa is spacious, beautiful and peaceful (toddlers aside), with glorious views. It is totally geared towards a successful family/group holiday with a wide range of baby equipment, toys, and of course the fabulous pool, ping pong, pétanque and trampoline - there was never a dull moment. I turned 40 while we were there, and Helen recommended a brilliant English speaking caterer who came to the house and cooked us a fabulous 5 course birthday meal complete with waitress service. The surrounding area is gorgeous, and we enjoyed a range of day trips to historic villages, vineyards, and the beach. A very happy and memorable holiday - we will definitely be going back!
We had an absolutely wonderful holiday at Bastide des Esperels. There were 5 families in our group, including 6 children ranging from 0-5, and there was more than enough space for all of us. The villa is absolutely stunning - just the right combination of modern and traditional, and the attention to detail is excellent. This villa is perfectly set up for children, with toys, highchairs, stairgates and baby monitors all available, as well as things for older kids such as a ping pong table and a trampoline. The outside space is amazing - the pool was huge and clean, lots of sun loungers, 2 huge seating areas...I cannot sing the praises of this villa enough and I am already in discussions with my family about when we can return. The are is stunning - every afternoon we went to a different town or village for a walk and coffee/ice cream, and each one was more beautiful than the next. There are lots of day trips you can do - we went to Moustiers, Tourtour and St Paul de Vence, all of which I recommend. There are also zoos/water parks/wine tasting in the region, none of which we had time to do hence the need to return! Highly recommended. Thanks for a wonderful stay Helen and Clayton.
This is a very well-equipped house, which is ideally suited for babies and children of all ages -lots to keep them occupied! All the rooms are spacious and well-appointed and like the rest of the property extremely clean. We enjoyed our stay enormously and Claire the House Manager was very helpful pointing out places of interest, local restaurants etc. Brilliant holiday home!
