Overview

About the property

Villa in Figanieres, Provence Cote D'Azur, France - Peaceful location near to swimming lakes and 50 mins from the Cote d'Azur, beautiful beds and baths

An imposing stone house in a peaceful countryside location, renovated to a very high standard with a large, saltwater 12x5m heated pool (new for 2015!) and spectacular views over open countryside, vineyards and hills.

Perfect for large groups or families who wish to get away from it all but still want the luxuries of home. Owned and designed by a family with small children and so plenty of baby facilities to hand. We also have a vetted, local childminder who can help you have a rest in the day or babysit in the evenings.

Laze by the heated pool, which is fenced and safety-gated, or watch the children splash in the gently sloping beach area. Take shade under the large pergola on the top terrace with a book, catch the summer breeze from the hammock or enjoy a game of boules or table tennis if you're feeling energetic! A 12 seater American oak table makes outside dining a real pleasure, especially straight from the large gas BBQ!

Inside, large comfy sofas, books and games mean you can relax indoors as well as out. Not to mention the free standing bathtub, drench showers, kingsize beds, crisp sheets and fluffy bath sheets.

Should you wish to return to the outside world, the lovely medieval towns of Figanieres, Lorgues and Tourtour are all close by, not to mention incredible restaurants and some of the best Provencal markets in the Var. Wonderful walking, pedalos and rafting in the spectacular Gorges de Verdon. Perfect for nature lovers or someone who want a bit of adventure.

You can cook up a storm on the large gas BBQ or in the wonderfully appointed kitchen - or ask our caterer to do that for you! We can even leave welcome meals in the fridge on your arrival or prepare picnics for sunny days out.

In the evening, enjoy a cocktail in the last of the sun on the lower terrace lounging area by the pool which is lit at night before you head inside for supper. The world is your oyster!

About Helen Bush

We are a young family with 2 children under 2 and a large extended family of all ages, so we understand the needs of families travelling abroad. I hail from Yorkshire but now live in London ...and we spend as much time at the house as we can!

Helen Bush purchased this villa in 2012

Why Helen Bush chose Draguignan region

We have a strong connection with France having lived here for some time and many good friends also live in the area. We had searched for some time for the perfect place and a friend sent us the property details. We were married in Taradeau, fell in love with the house and bought it on our honeymoon!

What makes this villa unique

The house itself is stunning and the views are outstanding. We loved the story of the building, the relaxed atmosphere and the beautiful stone floors. The pool we think is incredible and having travelled extensively, is one of the best we have swum in. We have worked hard to provide things to ensure our guests can make the most of their time with us, including babysitting, "drop off dinners" for when you arrive and plenty of baby gear to take the weight off you (and your suitcases!)

My favourite thing after a day in the pool is to enjoy a large glass of the local rose on the huge pergola sofa, usually followed by a game or 3 of petanque!

Guestbook comments from the owner

This is the perfect holiday house for a family group with young children. We loved the location. Although it was high season you feel away from the crowds. Figanieres has all the basic shops and the bio bakery nearby is superb. The house is very well equipped - huge washing machine and two fridges. Don't forget to investigate the cupboards as you might miss out on a treasure trove of toys....

Notes:
The beautiful stone and lintels used to build the property and the antique tiles throughout the house were reclaimed from the farmhouses and monastery of Saint Croix village before it was flooded to form nearby Lac Sainte Croix. It faces directly south, meaning from each room guests can open the olive green shutters to the wonderful views across to the red rock mountains of RoqueBrun and it basks in the best of the Provencal sunshine. There is no passing traffic and it's a perfect house for families or groups of individuals. The BBQ and large table provide a perfect way to enjoy the views. The private pool is in the garden and near to the house, It is fenced with a safety gate to stop unsupervised small children gaining access. The beach area is also ideal for supervised splashing with very small children. Or for those who don't like to get their hair wet! It has spectacular views over the valley and is wonderful at sunset. Outside: The heated pool is 12mx5m and new in 2015. It is fenced and conforms to French safety regulations for children with fencing and safety gate. Includes a 2x2m sq 'beach' area and large patio. The house sits on a hillside providing a wonderful elevated position from which to enjoy the views of the vineyards below and the mountains beyond. Outside there is plenty of space to sit and relax. There are 10 sun loungers ensuring everyone can doze off at the same time! A large, American oak table shaded by a large parasol seats 10 comfortably for outside dining. There is a large 5 burner gas barbecue on the lower patio, which is just outside the double French doors to the kitchen making outdoor cooking a pleasure. An outdoor table tennis table is above on the top terrace along with a trampoline and there are boules, badminton and some games for children including an inflatable pool for babies. To the side of the house is a large gravelled area which provides plenty of parking for cars. Utility Room: Microwave, enormous 13 kg capacity washing machine, blender, food processor, clothes drier, storage cupboards, shelving, wine rack, high chair. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All towels incl. luxury bath towels, pool towels and crisp white bed linen included. Professional clean between rentals included. Extra mid-holiday clean available at cost. Please bring own cot sheets.

Wonderful holiday house

  • 5 of 5

We had a terrific week staying in this beautiful house in the South of France. The owners have thought of everything you may potentially need. It is fabulous for children; so many toys, a great pool, table tennis, boules. You name it. The views over the countryside are spectacular and the surrounding villages very quaint. Would definitely recommend.

Stunning villa in perfect setting

  • 5 of 5

We have recently returned from a glorious week staying in Bastide Des Esperels celibrating a 40th Birthday in a group of 9 - including one child. The propery exceeded all our expectations. The house is set in glorious peaceful countryside with amazing views across to the mountains. The house itself was perfect, spacious, tasteful and contains everything a large group needs and more. The gardens were stunning, as was the pool and the many seating and dining areas around the property for relaxing and dining in style. House manager was on hand to help when needed. Helen was very helpful in planning the holiday and suggesting great things to do.. Nothing was too much trouble. We will be back next year.

Superb villa!

  • 5 of 5

This lovely old stone-built villa is a perfect place to spend a family holiday. The open-plan interior is very spacious and airy and very tastefully decorated. Bedrooms light and airy. LOADS of really good toys, dressing up box and a trampoline apart from the wonderful pool to keep the kids occupied. Very well-equipped kitchen and good bbq. The local town is lovely and we made good use of the fountains. In fact, we preferred it to some of the more touristy towns nearby. Recommend a visit to the Gorge du Verdon.

Lieu parfait pour des vacances en famille

  • 5 of 5

Perfect Family Holiday!

  • 5 of 5

Bastide des Esperels fulfilled all our expectations and more!

It is a beautiful house which is superbly equipped to cater for all different ages. The youngest members of our party who are 3 and 3 months did not leave the house the entire week, they were completely content there (as were their parents!).

We will definitely return.
