We own a charming 18th Century cottage set in its own private gardens, providing a rural retreat where you can enjoy open countryside walks and return to put your feet up in front of a cosy wood–burner. Rose Cottage comfortably accommodates 3. Neighbouring villages boast some delightful pubs (including 2 of Suffolk’s pub grub of the year winners). Within a 20min drive are both Southwold and Aldburgh, popular family resorts. Southwold has a sandy beach and for beer lovers is a must as it is home to the famous Adnams Brewery. Aldeburgh is a pretty Victorian beach resort famous for its fish and chips. Within a 45min drive is Beccles, gateway to the Norfolk Broads and Lowestoft with its fishing community. Our prices include central heating, lighting and all logs as well as linen and towels. The whole area is ideal for walking, cycling, bird watching, riding, fishing and playing golf.

Notes on accommodation: There is adequate central heating. The wood burner is an additional feature but not essential. The cottage is designated as no smoking and no pets. Free wi-fi connection. Outside: The cottage has its own mature pretty garden with patio. There are a number of mature trees and a small lawn. Patio furniture, parasol and barbecue are available for your private use. There is ample private parking across the lane on a purpose built car park. Footpaths which start adjacent to the car park take you out across open countryside. Utility Room: A separate room with its own external entrance containing a washing machine and tumble dryer. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are included and changed weekly or between bookings if of less duration. The property is thoroughly cleaned weekly or between bookings if of less duration. All electric, central heating, logs and kindling are included.

Rose Cottage

What a lovely and pleasant cottage to have our break away from it all.

We usually have a Suffolk coast 'fix' every so often and with our regular cottage booked out, discovered this wonderful little place by chance. We are glad we did, as Rose Cottage is everything as expected from the images online. It's in a quiet spot, so we can completely relax and unwind without the hubbub of a busy location. Sited in a convenient spot for Southwold to the north, Aldeburgh and Snape Maltings to the south, it was easy to get about to our favourite locations.

The cottage is beautifully and well presented with all the facilities expected available, even a washing machine, which we didn't need to use in the end. A bottle of wine and lemon cake was generously provided and gratefully accepted. ;-) The wifi came in useful, even though we didn't expect to use this as it would only mean 'job-related' work and not being able to completely unwind. The only (minor) issue is if you are on the tall side, as you will need to take a little care when going up/down the stairs as door frames aren't of the standard height and also the ceiling edge at the bottom of the stairs. Perfectly understandable for a property of this age.

Gary and Tracy are lovely and welcoming, visiting us briefly to ensure we were comfortable and happy. It was nice to have a chat, discussing the unfortunate timing of our visit due to the inclement weather we experienced at the time and the lovely property they own.

We had a cute little 'visitor' come by to 'admire' the garden but didn't revisit, much to my partner's sadness as she had her camera out ready to take a picture or two….

We heartily recommend this cottage for anyone who desires a quiet, peaceful and relaxing break, away from it all and intend to return when we can.

Aldbugh - 25mins by car, features individual shops, arguably the best fish and chips on the East Coast amongst other restaurants.

Southwold - 20mins by car, features a very family friendly sandy beach with many colourful beach-huts and beach cafes. Award winning pier with restaurant, amusements and other attractions.

The use of a car is essential in this rural area.
