About Clare Hammond

Glencorse is owned by Lotus Pathways Limited, a UK registered company wholly owned and managed by Clare Hammond. Clare is a holistic health, Qi Gong and meditation practitioner who runs 2 holiday properties in the beautiful and remote North West highlands of Scotland, she also organises regular meditation retreats.

Why Clare Hammond chose Scottish Highlands & Islands

I grew up in the wild, unspoiled and stunningly scenic remote Western Highlands and though I was sent to school in England my heart has always stayed captivated by the rolling ocean and endlessly shifting light of Assynt, this remote top western corner of Scotland where we still own a family home in addition to Glencorse. I knew Glencorse from Childhood. it is a large But welcoming house with unusually high ceilings for the area lending a feeling of space, complemented by the wonderful views directly overlooking Loch Drumbeg. It had been in the same family for many years, and I leapt at the chance to buy this uniquely special place when it finally came up for sale 3 years ago.

What makes this farmhouse unique

In addition to it's loch side location with lovely lake views from all windows, the house is a few moments walk from Drumbeg (shingle) beach; one of the important scenic viewpoints on the west highland coast, affording magnificent views across the Atlantic Ocean & local islands. The house has been completely modernised & offers 4 star accommodation with hotel grade touches such as pure heavy cotton bed linen, silk bed throws and other little luxuries such as fluffy bathrobes and scented candles on request. The kitchen is to quote one guest "to die for", including an oak dining table seating 10, double Aga and traditional touches such as flagstones and part of the original drystone wall of the historic croft house. Hill walks, fishing, shop & pub are alll within a 5 minute walk of the house

Meditation retreat holidays are scheduled throughout the year at regular intervals and individual meditation coaching is available on request.

Fishing locally can be arranged - we can put you in contact with the ghillie and local loch fishing licenses available at local shop next door.

Salmon fishing also in locality.

Coast/Beach:

5 minutes walk to shingle beach, 15 minutes drive to sandy beaches.

Travel:

2.5 hours drive north west from Inverness. Car hire strongly recommended (from Inverness airport or town centre). 6 hours drive from Edinburgh or Glasgow, 4.5 hours from Aberdeen. 1 hour from Ullapool. 1 bus runs daily to and from Inverness (changing in Ullapool).

Distances:

Inverness 2.5 hours, Durness (top West corner of Scotland) and Smoo Cave 40 miles. Lochinver 35mins. Clashnessie and Clachtoll (sandy beaches) approx 12mins drive.

Further Details:

Local village shop (next door) and characterful local pub/bar at Drumbeg Hotel, 2 minutes from house. Excellent local fishing, hiking, hill walking, bird watching and wildlife including seal colonies. Llama trekking at Stoer 15 minutes drive. Booking Notes:
Children and dogs are welcomed. Please let us know if you require a cot/ stair gates. There is a charge per dog.
Non refundable deposit of 50% at time of booking with balance payable 1 month prior to arrival. £150 safekeeping deposit, also 1 month prior, fully refunded provided no damages and house left in good order. Check in 3.30pm, departure 9.30am promptly, please, to allow adequate time for cleaning as this is a large house. Payment can be made online through our website or by credit/debit card. We do not accept cheques. PLEASE NOTE CONDITIONS OF STAY IN WELCOME PACK - these include correctly sorting rubbish for recycling and no smoking inside the house. These form part of the safety deposit terms.
Changeover Day:
Changeover in high season is usually SATURDAY, though we sometimes offer Friday or Sunday arrival or 6 day lets. Out of season short lets and other arrival days are accommodated where possible, subject to housekeeper availability. Feel welcome to ask us!

Children are welcome, as are dogs provided they do not enter any of the bedrooms. All floors are wooden or stone so the house is suitable for allergy sufferers and non feather pillows can be provided if required as can stair gates, cot and high chair. Outside: Large garden with barbecue, decked terrace and patio with outside table and chairs for 8. Hill walking immediately accessible from the house. Shingle beach 5mins walk. Loch fishing opposite. Kayaking/canoeing in the area is exceptional with many sheltered bays and inland lochs to explore Utility Room: washing machine, dryer and extra drinks fridge. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Cleaning pre-arrival and on departure, high quality towels (1 bath, 1 hand towel) and luxury pure cotton bed linen. Soap, starter cleaning materials,1 basket of logs and Beach towels are supplied. Fluffy bathrobes & scented candles available on request .
