About Maureen King

We are both keen walkers, and love the Cornish coastline with its easily traversed coastal paths and never ending supply of beautiful coves and majestic mining heritage.

We fell in love with Botallack and Little Ferriby many years ago, and were lucky to purchase the property in 2012 and have spent many a happy day enjoying the quiet ambience of the village, the friendly neighbours, the numerous local walks, and the homely village pub.

I have happy memories of childhood summer holidays with my Aunty who lived in the village just up the road from Little Ferriby

What makes this cottage unique

The village of Botallack is in a quiet backwater just north of Sennen Cove and Lands End, with easy access by both footpath and road to the many beautiful coves and headlands which abound in this most dramatic south-west tip of the Cornish peninsula.

The moment we walked through the door we felt completely at home it was so well equipt, with lovely bed linen and towels

it was nice and cosy and warm , loved the garden so pleasant to sit in with a book and cup of tea .It was also nice to vist a Holiday let which has easy to follow appliances and not have to keep referring to manuals ,Bathroom is really good too no complicated Shower taps and plenty of space in the Shower Cubicle . It was a wonderful place to wake up to in the morning and return to in the evening after a long walk we can't praise it enough. Well Done you've got it just right .

Notes on accommodation: The property is a traditional Cornish granite stone-built miners cottage which is set in an area of historical interest and outstanding natural beauty. Little Ferriby is simply one of those special places which is full of charm, a little quirky and retains many of it's original features. Outside: Double-frontage mainly laid to lawn, with raised traditional stone-built cornish flower beds, picnic table and stone/wooden seat Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: towels and linen included. Property cleaned and new towels/linen after each occupency

Beautiful location and idyllic cottage

A wonderful family holiday in a cosy cottage, scones, jam and cream were waiting on arrival on a blustery day which changed into a warm sunny week. Brew, our boxer dog, loved to sit at the door watching the world go by and our tortoise loved to wander around the garden eating the dandelions and plantain and watching everything from the garden gate! The Queens Arm was just along the road and the walks around this stunning area were right on the doorstep. Botallack Mine was a 5 minute walk away, or if you're feeling lazy there is a large National Trust car park with a small café and tables to sit outside and enjoy the amazing view, the coffee was delicious.

Thank you Maureen, Nick and I, and Brew of course, will definitely be back.

A REAL GEM.

THIS IS THE MOST COMPREHENSIVELY EQUIPPED COTTAGE WE HAVE EVER HIRED.

NOT SO MUCH A HOLIDAY LET AS HOME FROM HOME,ONLY THE MOST PERNICKETY COULD FIND A PROBLEM.

ALTHOUGH IT HAS ALL MOD CONS IT RETAINS ITS COTTAGE CHARACTER AND ATMOSPHERE.

OURS WAS A FESTIVE SEASON HOLIDAY AND WE FOUND ON ARRIVAL,CHRISTMAS DECS INCLUDING AN ILLUMINATED TREE,MINCE PIES AND A BOTTLE OF BUBBLY.

THE COTTAGE IS DOG FRIENDLY AND THE GARDEN IS ENCLOSED.

FIVE MINUTE WALK TO THE HEADLAND,GREAT FOR DOGS AND OWNERS ALIKE.

Perfect holiday hideaway!

Best equipped cottage we have ever stayed in and very clean too.

Loads to do in the area and mins from the coast path. We had a glorious week weather wise and saw Poldark being filmed on the mines just around the corner.

Great holiday, for us and the dogs.

Credit to the owner. We will be booking again!

A little gem!

We spent a wonderful week in Little Ferriby at the end of May. We are a family of six plus a Great Dane and we all fitted very comfortably into this cosy little cottage. Much thought has been put into equipping the cottage for guests with everything you could possibly need. We would also agree with other reviewers that it was spotlessly clean which is very important to us. And we really appreciated the cream tea and fresh flowers on our arrival - a lovely touch! The front garden is completely enclosed and our dog loved sitting by the wall watching the world go by! The stunning SW coastal path is a ten minute walk away and there are some fascinating mine ruins to explore including the arsenic labyrinth which our kids played hide and seek in for hours. Botallack itself is ideally situated for exploring the wild and beautiful Land's End peninsula and is convenient for Land's End, Sennen Cove, the Minack theatre, Geevor Tin Mine and St. Michael's Mount. We were very taken with both the cottage and the area and would not hesitate to recommend either to our family and friends and we very much hope to return again one day.

Perfect Escape

We recently spent a long weekend at Little Ferriby - it proved to be the perfect getaway spot. The cottage was cosy and has everything we needed. It was clean, comfortable & well presented. The fresh flowers & cream tea supplies were a lovely extra touch!

In terms of location, it couldn't have been better. A very short walk to a friendly local pub, and to the cliffs & mines on the coast. Also, a short drive from other nice places (St Ives/Lands End/Mousehole) worth a visit.

We'd definitely come again, and happily recommend it to friends & family.

Little Ferriby, Perfect Retreat

The cottage is spacious and yet maintains its captivating character, every effort has been made to make it the perfect holiday home. The outside of Little ferriby has a beautiful garden with outdoor dining giving a great first impression. Inside there is ample leaving space, firstly the kitchen with all mod coms including a large dining table and a superb cooker/oven. The living room is a gem, beautiful open fireplace and wonderful furnishings. The bedrooms are charming, immaculatly clean and the beds very comfortable.

In summary, a wonderful week's break in this magical part of Cornwall. The location is second to none for long or short walks, historical sightseeing with a reputable pub next door. Would suit anyone looking for peace in the country, who loves the great outdoors and has a passion for cottages. A perfect holiday home.

Well behaved pets are welcome by prior arrangement only - pets are not allowed upstairs or on the furniture.


Changeover Day:
Arrival times to be after 15.00 on the date of arrival, and departure times to be by 10.00 on date of departure. Changeover day is Saturday.
