About Kim Angeli

We moved to Dorset in 2001 from Walton-on-Thames in Surrey. The reason behind the move was that we had owned a holiday cottage in Uploders, Bridport, West Dorset for many years and it was getting harder and harder to leave on a Sunday night! The children were still very young, and therefore we did not encounter any teenage rebellion!

We initially moved to Piddletrenthide in West Dorset, and then in 2007 we found our home in Minchington (after 3 years of searching!)… we renovated the cottage first, which we lived in as the renovations for the main house and barn took place.

We decided to start renting out the cottage in September 2013, and have been enjoying the experience of meeting new people from all over the UK and overseas, and more importantly, welcoming them back!

Kim Angeli purchased this cottage in 2007

Why Kim Angeli chose Shaftesbury & North Dorset

We took so long to find our home because we had a huge tick list!..

Our home ticked all the boxes, and still does - we simply love it.

The situation is just perfect - beautiful walks, lovely country pubs and to be surrounded by nature every day has to be good for you, but then to be able to be walking by the sea-shore in just over half an hour is very special too.

I think I have waxed lyrical enough - hopefully you will be able to capture some of the feelings I have tried to express!

What makes this cottage unique

Tranquility comes to mind first -

Great pubs within easy distance comes 2nd!..

Tranquil

  • 5 of 5

The stay started with a nice warm welcome by Kim to what was a lovely, clean and tranquil cottage with excellent facilities. Whilst the cottage is a little distant from supermarkets etc. at the end of the day that is what we were looking for - peace and quiet. The use of the cinema in the barn was an added bonus for our son and Peter was always on hand to assist if we needed it. We've never slept in a place that is so dark, due to lack of street lighting, but that just added to the relaxation. Excellent place to stay.

Mini golf break

  • 5 of 5

ME and my son had a lovely few days at weavers cottage using it as a base in order to play golf in the surrounding area. The cottage is wonderful and is set in beautiful countryside. With a pub restaurant 5 min walk away it was ideal.

The cottage is beautiful, clean, comfortable and welcoming. It is set in a quiet, pretty lane.

We sadly didn't see the local villages and towns due to an illness of one of our group but the cottage had everything we could possibly need. The entertainment barn is amazing and Kim & Peter couldn't have been any more accommodating! They are lovely people. We will certainly be back again soon.

Wonderful Cosy Cottage

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage on the 14th-16th October. Weavers Cottage is in a beautiful rural setting, and the cottage itself is cosy and inviting. Kim left us little welcome hamper with the basics. We had the opportunity to put on the wood burner during our stay, which was wonderful. Unfortunately we didn't get the opportunity to make use of the cinema room/bar in the adjacent Barn but it looked incredible! We look forward to retuning one day!

Hidden gem

  • 5 of 5

I didn't really want to review this hidden gem - as we wanted to keep it a secret. It's lovely - real country cottage - and added bonus of the barn with bar - what a brilliant idea.

Lovely setting near a few pubs - which were lovely.

As I said I wanted to keep it a secret - but you should know - it's absolutely beautiful and very clean and comfortable - a real gem.

Beautiful, comfortable cottage and very lovely hosts.

  • 5 of 5

The old and charming cottage was renovated with lots of love and offers the hole comfort you need on holidays. The picnic site gave us the chance to have a barbecue when the days were warm and in the fully developed barn a bar and a big screen were at hand.

Kim and Peter are adorable hosts and didn’t only surprise us with a little gift at the beginning, they also gave us many suggestions to explore the environment, in a very open minded and kind way.

Thank you a lot Kim and Peter

Places to eat:

We can personally recommend all the pubs mentioned!

The Museum Inn - a 5-minute walk up the lane to the village of Farnham is where you will find our favourite pub… (Tel: 01725 516261)

The King John is a 5-minute drive, in the lovely village of Tollard Royal - we often walk to it through Farnham, passing the back of the Larmer Tree, dropping down to the road leading to Tollard Royal. Proper directions will be given if needed!.. (Tel: 01725 516207)

The Beckford Arms at Fonthill Gifford (another favourite) is a 20-minute drive; this has the feel of a very relaxed country house, (only because you can have coffee in another room on comfy sofas after your meal) (Tel: 01747 870385)

The Fontmell at Fontmell Magna is also great, we prefer to have a table in the bar area, that could be because we are nosy! (Tel: 01747 811441)

The Anchor at Shapwick has gone through a few changes, and thankfully is back to being a good pub again… (Tel: 01258 857269)

The Forester at Donhead St Andrew does the best fish dishes, they are passionate about fish, but for meat eaters, the standard is also excellent (Tel: 01747 828038)

In Chettle there is a charming hotel called The Castleman, for a real country house experience. (Tel: 01258 830096)

Shaftesbury is a 15-minute drive, and has an excellent curry house called Chutneys (01747 852585), another good curry experience is Anokaa, in Salisbury (Tel: 01722 414142).

Establishments offering local produce are:

The Farm Shop at Tarrant Gunville

The Bakery at Long Crichel

The Village Stores at Chettle

The Butcher at Sixpenny Handley
