About Paul Winfer

I have been a regular visitor to this part of wales since I was a child and still love the area, I decided to buy a property in Fairbourne 3 years ago and spent the next 6 months renovating it to high standard. We still use the bungalow ourselves and you will find many personal touches and attention to detail.

Paul Winfer purchased this bungalow in 2011

Why Paul Winfer chose Gwynedd - Snowdonia

We chose to buy in Fairbourne due to its peaceful location far enough away from the more comercialised areas of Barmouth but close enough to reach within a few minutes. The transport links are great with a train staion and bus stop in the village. We enjoy walking and cycling and the area has some spectacular walks on your doorstep including the blue lake and the dis-used railway line along the Mawdach estuary. You can walk or cycle across Barmouth bridge and Coed-y-Brenin mountain bike centre is a 30 minute drive away.

Fairbourne has a beautiful long sandy beach, the village is well away from the main road and the activities available make it the perfect place to take children.

What makes this bungalow unique

The bungalow is in a very quiet cul-de-sac within walking distance of the beach, train station, shops, pub, indian restaurant, golf course, amusement arcade, and the Fairbourne minature steam railway. Perfect for families or for couples looking for peace and quiet.

Fairbourne stay, October 2016

  • 5 of 5

We were visiting parents in Fairbourne for the week. Very pleased with accommodation spotlessly clean. Equipped to high standard as described. No hidden extras i.e. Meters to feed. So was warm when weather was chilly. Washing machine and tumble drier useful too, as we had young granddaughter staying with us. No complaints at all. we used the local new pub for eating out which was very good value (not the Springfield) . Would recommend to friends.

Pity about negative publicity regarding flood plain and lack of funding for the area for the future.

Good stay in a very nice property

  • 4 of 5

This is a very nice bungalow which is finished to a good standard. The property looks a little basic from the front, but is modern, warm and spacious on the inside. We particularly liked the conservatory dining area and loved having breakfast in there (it was fine with the heater on). The beach is a short stroll away and a great walk when the tide is out. We were lucky with the weather (Oct.) and would definitely stay here again.

There were only two issues during our stay. The bathroom sink plug mechanism was broken (which was a bit frustrating) and you had to put your hand underneath to operate it and let the water out. The second issue was that the owner of the property behind this one had three dogs, and there wasn't much of a fence between the two gardens.....so be aware of this if you're taking a dog with you!

Lovely comfortable bungalow, ideal location

  • 5 of 5

Perfect base for a week in Fairbourne. The bungalow had everything we needed and more - loads of room for the five of us, and a lovely private garden, much enjoyed in the sunshine. So pleased we opted to hire the kayak and bikes as well - thoughtfully provided with all the necessities - Fairbourne is the perfect location for both.

No need for a car here. The bungalow is 5 minutes from the beach and just a few minutes walk from the train station - direct trains from Birmingham, and great for day trips along the coast (Harlech, Talyllyn railway). Lovely walks up into the hills or across the footbridge to Barmouth.

Highly recommended.

Lovely bungalow in a great location

  • 5 of 5

This was our third stay at this property and equally enjoyable as before. First impressions reflect a lovely, clean and homely bungalow with a completely enclosed and safe garden for our three doggies. The welsh cakes were most welcome.

There are plenty of walks nearby, the Morfa Mawdach trail or just walking into Barmouth across the bridge. We can recommend Myrddins Cafi bar and Murrays, both of which allow doggies inside.

We visited the historic town of Harlech but instead of road travel took the train from Fairbourne up the scenic coastline. A great day out and reasonably priced rail fares.

We discovered T H Roberts tearoom in Dolgellau which has the most amazing home made cakes, although from the outside, it looks like you have gone back in time.

Breakfast at Yr Hen Efail is also well worth a visit.

The bungalow is very centrally situated for access to both North and Mid Wales. The owners Paul and Simone have always been very helpful and quick to respond to any query.

We can certainly recommend this property. It's just perfect.

Look forward to returning soon.
