Aveiro District Chalet Rental Photos and Description

Two x 2 bedroom with full en-suite chalet apartments (each sleeps 4/5)

One double, one twin, both with en-suite, a double sofa-bed in lounge/diner area and a modern, fully equipped kitchen with washing machine. On the large patio there is a gas BBQ .

We provide all bed linen and towels (except beach towels).

Because we adopt an honesty policy here there is no requirement for our guests to bring anything other than their personal clothing and toiletries - i.e. all consumables, coffee, tea, sauces, etc., are provided, but if any item runs out or is low prior to your departure, just replace that item with a similar product.

Each chalet apartment has UK adapters, hair dryer and safe. For your entertainment a free-to-view UK satellite television is included. There is a DVD/CD player and a range of books and games. Free WiFi is available - subject to PT Telecom.

The 10x5M salt water pool has a telescopic cover. Pool games are provided. In the extensive grounds there is a petanque and malha piste, fruit trees and a large salad garden.

Sue and Ken, authors of 'The Eucalyptus Dance', welcome you to Casa Sulo in the Beiras region of Central Portugal.

Casa Sulo is situated in the safe, idyllic, rural village of Alombada, surrounded by the refreshing fragrance of eucalyptus forests and with uninterrupted views across the mountains.

It is, however, within easy reach of the main arterial north/south and east/west roads with Aveiro and the Costa Nova and Barra beaches nearby.

The two self-catering chalet apartments are equipped to a high standard, each sleeping up to five people; for larger families or groups they open up into a four bedroom villa.

Perfect

I say "perfect". It certainly was for us. We were looking for peace and tranquillity, and we found it. This is not a place to stay if you're looking for nightclubs, beach bars or supermarkets on your doorstep. In fact, the doorstep is in a village on the top of a mountain. You need to drive down the mountain to find a shop. But that means that if you want a quiet time on the patio or in the pool, you can have it without interruption.

One of our favourite aspects of this holiday was being able to relax in the pool surrounded by amazing views of the surrounding mountains and countryside - and barely any background noise.

The accommodation itself is comfortable, with enough room for most sizes of party - the adjoining chalet can be opened up to form one large one. I have experienced it in both formats.

There are some excellent walks on the mountain, if you don't want to stray far, but if you want to explore the area there are a range of different activities including the beach on the Costa Nova - certainly amongst the best I've experienced - and Aveiro, a nearby town which is well worth a visit.

Ken and Sue are very welcoming and helpful. They encourage you to sample the fruits (and veg) of their own garden, and if you don't want to go to the trouble of going out for a meal or making one yourself, even provide a "take away" service - which we have taken advantage of and thoroughly enjoyed.

I have stayed here three times now, and look forward to visiting again.

A car is essential for your stay. Albergaria-a-Velha is our closest town (10 minutes drive away) with several good cafés en route. It has plenty of first class traditional restaurants at affordable prices: a two course meal for two with wine will normally be under €20, or a local dish of the day, including wine and coffee, around €7 per head.

There is plenty to do and see throughout the region with many local markets to visit, full of atmosphere and fresh produce.

The city of Aveiro, known as the “Venice of Portugal,” boasts every modern amenity but still retains its old charm. Take a boat trip in the traditional brightly painted moliceiros, relax and watch the world go by or wander through the myriad of narrow cobbled streets bustling with life. The Costa Nova and Barra has miles of beautiful unspoilt golden sandy beaches waiting to be discovered – here you can participate in all types of water sports.

Porto and Coimbra are within a 45 minute drive.

Notes:
Casa Sulo and Alombada provide a wonderful and safe environment for children of all ages. Guests are encouraged to pick the fresh oranges, lemons and other fruit, as well as the salad and vegetables from our extensive vegetable patch and gardens. For the more energetic, there are plenty of woodland walks and a visit to our local Rio Alombada with a picnic is a must for the whole family to play 'Swallows and Amazons'.
