About Alan and Jennett Higgins
Hello, This villa has been in the family for many years and I have enjoyed many vacations here. I would like to share the opportunity for you to enjoy a holiday here too. Please feel free to phone or e-mail if you have any queries.
Alan and Jennett Higgins purchased this Villa in 1980
Why Alan and Jennett Higgins chose El Portet
The property was originally purchased by my parents as a holiday retreat. The area was very quiet and secluded then with two lovely sandy beaches. Though the area is a little bit busier these days it still maintains it's charm.

Lovely ‘ Family home’ holiday
Great holiday in a near perfect location. Despite difficulties with HomeAway s automated booking system, the owner Alan was quick to respond directly and very helpful in resolving any issues. Communication was easy and everything went very smoothly...there are always a few concerns when booking this type of holiday but rest assured this went very well indeed.
The Villa is lovely and perfect for a family with a fantastic pool just 20 yards from the back garden...we couldn’t get the boys out of it for the first few days.
No WiFi which was disappointing but Alan resolved this amicably with us..thank you...or rather thank you from two teenage boys!
Lovely relaxing on the balcony until late at light with the gardens all lit up around us....and a 10 minutes stroll down to a good local restaurant ‘ Oasis and a few minutes more to a few local bars. The evening walk into Moraira for better class restaurants and shopping was an easy 20-30 minutes and a lovely walk it was with magnificent scenery all the way.
We would through recommend this Villa, especially to larger families or extended family groups with the separate downstairs area perfect for a family/ grandparents/ teenagers.Thank you Alan for letting us use you family home.
An excellent villa in a good location for El Portet Beach and Moraira.
This is our first stay in El Portet and at this Villa. We required a larger villa as friends were joining us. It worked well having the upstairs and downstairs. The Villa was in an excellent location. We were able to walk to and from the beach in about 10 mins which was great as parking at El Portet is not great. We also walked to Moraira in an evening about 20 mins and got a taxi back which was just over 7 euros. The land train is 4 euros return per adult and 3 euros for a child.
The actual Villa was lovely and big with plenty seating and eating areas. The pool is the big selling point as it is large, quiet and clean. We enjoyed the Spanish family coming down in an evening and the children playing together. In the late evening lots of families had a night swim which was lovely.
A previous comment does mention the smell of damp downstairs. We noticed this in the drawers and it was easily rectified by opening windows to let the air in and putting an air freshener in the bedroom downstairs. The kitchen is also tiny but this was not a problem as we only used it for breakfast and lunch as the outside bbq was great and we ate out most nights. The freezer was too small and we did find this tricky but we managed. The downstairs fridge was much better for keeping drinks cool.
The villa is a family home and decorated as such rather than being plain and sanitary. There were lots of games and my son watched the dvds every morning.
The owner was extremely helpful and accommodating and was easy to contact before and during the holiday.
We had a lovely stay at the villa and would certainly use it again if we had friends joining us.
It really is a home away from home. Amazing place to tune out from a hectic work schedule and relax.
This was our second stay in 2 years and we found it as relaxing and chilled as we did the first time. The owners were exceptionally friendly, welcoming and timely during the booking process even remembering us from the first time.
As before, the villa was fully equipped with absolutely everything you would need to help you enjoy your time in Moraira. It really is a home from home with a fully equipped kitchen (if you want to cook), 3 dining areas 1 inside and 2 outside, a built in BBQ. 3 spacious bedrooms that can sleep up to 8 guests, 2 baths and 2 indoor sitting areas plus 1 outside balcony area which is the perfect area end to perfect days! The pool area is private and is a lovely and peaceful therefore an Amazing area to tune out from hectic work schedule and relax.
It is a mere 8 minute stroll into El Portet which has lovely cafes and a small beach. You can walk to Moraira which takes a little longer. It is a good size town with loads of restaurants, a large sandy beach and a pretty marina area and it has managed to retain some Spanish character.
We have absolutely no doubt that we will be returning in the future
Very nice Villa, good location.
Overall we had a lovely holiday and the grandchildren had a ball in the pool.
Nice complex with lovely neighbours.
Good convenient location
Nice swimming pool
Modern kitchen with quality cooking equipment
Air conditioning great in lounge
No air conditioning in bedrooms ( ceiling fans not adequate in very home weather)
Downstairs bedroom smelt damp and musty in wardrobe and drawers. Needs dehumidification .
Not much work surface in kitchen for six people.
Thank you for your wonderful review, Colin. It's a pleasure to accommodate guests who appreciate the villa as much as we do.
We recently had air conditioning installed in the lounge, unfortunately this makes the rest of the villa seem somewhat humid. We intend installing air conditioning throughout the rest of the villa for next season.
We look forward to welcoming you again, in the future.
Nice clean spacious homely property.
I enjoyed this nice secure and spacious traditional Spanish Villa right on the coast so just a short walk to a number of beaches. The large communal swimming pool at the rear was great fun too. The house is well maintained with a modern kitchen and spacious comfy lounge with multi-channel TV provided. The patio has plenty of space for a family barbecue with loungers provided. Would definitely go back.
Thank you for your wonderful review. It's a pleasure to accommodate guests who appreciate the villa as much as we do. We look forward to welcoming you again, in the future.
Return visits to 'Dos Olivos'
My Family have used this property for a holiday a couple of times we find it to be a beautiful Villa is the quaint Spanish Décor style. It is Quite spacious and has access to a wonderful semi private pool at the lower end of the garden. We ate out al fresco many times too utilising the Built - in BBQ also. It is quite well situated to avail of local restaurants and bars and within a short walk to a lovely beach. Not far from the town either. We were there during the festival season (early july) and the town was quite busy with lots of music and entertainment available along with a wonderful fireworks display. I would recommend this location for a holiday, no bother.
Thank you for your wonderful review, Teresa. It's a pleasure to accommodate guests who appreciate the villa and surrounding area as much as we do. We look forward to welcoming you and your family again, in the future.
El Portet beach is only a ten minute walk. The beach is a sheltered cove with a shallow sandy slope and minimal wave action, ideal for children and snorkelling. There are a few shops, restaurants and bars for those that wish to spend all day here.
Moraira beach is a twenty to thirty minute walk along the coast past the town with it's many shops, restaurants and bars. It boasts a larger beach, larger waves and plenty of water activities including jet ski's and pedalos.
Positioned only an hours drive north of Alicante airport ( 95km) by motorway or approx. an hour and 20 minutes drive south of Valencia airport (132km) by motorway, the property is perfectly situated to ensure minimal travelling time upon arrival in Spain. In addition to the extensive choice of customary car hire firms, both locally and on-site at the airports, there is a new local bus service directly to and from Alicante airport for your convenience.

Moraira enjoys a subtropical Mediterranean climate, with sea breezes cooling the area in summer and in winter getting protection from the cold North winds from the surrounding mountains. The area averages some 3,000 hours of sunshine each year and the average temperature exceeds 20 degrees. On average there are 325 sunny days each year. In 1986 the World Health Organisation commended the Moraira climate as one of the most equitable in the world - neither too hot in the summer nor too cold in the winter.
The Fiesta is part of the Spanish way of life and most fiestas have a religious or historical origin.
