Three well converted Stone Barns in a stunning location at Trebandy Farm. - Field Barn

Bedrooms 3
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 - 4 nights

Field Barn

Tranquil and secluded three bed stone converted barn sleeping 6/7. Comfortable, light and warm surrounded on three sides by open countryside and on the fourth by a wood through which the property is accessed. Living room and walk through to rear dining area with kitchen off, one double bedroom with king size bed and en suite shower room, two more bedrooms with twin beds, separate bathroom with WC and wash basin The living room has a wood burner and there is under-floor heating throughout. Generous garden area, ample and convenient parking. Great walks and plenty of wildlife. This barn does not have internet access.

About the property

In a stunning setting and beautifully converted these three barns are warm and cosy in winter, two having under floor oil fired heating and a wood burner, with a plentiful supply of wood to burn, and the third radiator oil central heating. The farm provides plenty of opportunities for walking with 70 acres of pasture and woodland, an ox-bow lake, river (with weir plus water wheel that generates electricity for farm use) and ponds and I keep rare breed Hebridean sheep and highland cattle. We are close to all of the sights and activities of the Wye Valley and Royal Forest of Dean (walking, canoeing, cycling, climbing, fishing and more) being equidistant between Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth, about 2 miles from Goodrich Castle. There are good local walks over and around Coppett Hill (a local nature reserve with a network of public paths). There is a village shop and pubs within 1 and a half miles, and numerous restaurants and supermarkets in the area. Field Barn (which sleeps 6/7) will appeal to those seeking tranquillity and seclusion. Great Barn (south wing, and which sleeps 8/9) is spacious, stylish and comfortable and is ideal for family groups. Sheep Barn is a detached stone-built barn with 4 bedrooms, plenty of outdoor space and parking and also sleeps 8/9.

About Geoffrey Jordan

I bought Trebandy Farm in a semi-derelict state in 1989 and have since then devoted myself to managing the conversion and refurbishment of the 9 buildings on the farm, four of which I let. I have in the process planted some 7,000 trees (native deciduous varieties), planted several miles of hedges, reinstated the ox-bow lake in the centre of the farm (with bunds and silt traps to protect it from the annual flooding of the river that runs through the farm) and have introduced and keep on the farm rare breed Hebridean sheep and Highland cattle. The most recent project undertaken has been the installation of a water wheel in the weir of the river to generate electricity for all of the houses. It has been a privilege to be the custodian of such an unusually beautiful place.

Geoffrey Jordan purchased this house in 1989

Why Geoffrey Jordan chose Hereford & Worcester

I bought the farm in 1989 having fallen in love with the setting, and the challenge represented by so much dereliction with the potential to become perfection which I like to think is close to being achieved!. It combines seclusion with convenient access to the outside world.

What makes this house unique

Peace and quiet, natural beauty and abundant wildlife.

Our stay in Field Barn was perfect. We had a family wedding locally and it allowed our family to stay together to enjoy the weekend even more. We were the first guests in Field Barn since the renovation and would like to say it has been done to a very good standard. If we come back to Marstow to visit our family we will be staying again. If you can get a phone line and broadband installed it would make the stay even better!!!

Owner's Response: Thanks Jemma. We are very pleased you enjoyed your stay in the "new" Field Barn. We will continue our efforts (5 months and counting) to get the non-functioning monopoly that is BT, to provide us with a phone line and broadband service to the property. Everything else in extending the house has been easy in comparison! Geoffrey Jordan
