Old Coastguard Cottage in Peveril Point, Swanage, Dorset, England - Tranquil Location On The Jurassic Coastal Path A Short Stroll From The Town & Blue Flag Beach
Old Coastguard Cottages are located near to the lifeboat slip & angling club on the eastern tip of Swanage Bay known as Peveril Point. Although the town is only a short stroll away, Peveril Point provides a haven of peace and tranquillity throughout the year. The cottage is full of charm and character and has 3 bedrooms (two with direct sea views) that can accommodate 6 adults comfortably. Downstairs there is a decent sized kitchen and a cosy lounge with direct sea views through bi-fold doors. Central heating. WiFi. Parking permit for the rear of the cottage. The cottage is non-smoking and we are unable to accept pets I am afraid. The woodburner is not currently in use.

About Elaine Smith
I have lived in Swanage for almost 26 years and my partner all of his life. My partner's family go back at least five generations in the Purbecks. The Old Coastguard Cottage is much cherished and is a truly wonderful place to stay. I purchased it during the summer after waiting almost 30 years for one to become available. I see myself as the custodian of the cottage rather than its owner! I am ultimately looking to retire at the cottage in 10 years or so. My partner & I love the sea and the coastal walks. We are both keen golfers at the Isle of Purbeck Golf Club which is only a couple of miles away. Call me on 00447929904996 anytime to ask questions.

Why Elaine Smith chose Swanage
After waiting for 30 years to have the opportunity to buy the cottage, I am just over the moon! Our grandchildren just love it too! The tranquil location is just perfect, only a short stroll from the amenities of the town. The views from the waterfront garden across the bay to the town, seafront, beach, Jurassic Coast, Old Harry Rocks, Bournemouth & Isle of Wight are just breath-taking and quite unique. The adjacent stunning coastal path, leading to Durlston Bay, Chapmans Pool, Dancing Ledge & onto Cornwall!.
What makes this Cottage unique
There is no finer place to relax & enjoy the view over a G&T or a beer or two than the waterfront cottage & garden. Watching the boats & fishermen or the children fishing / crabbing & swimming right there in front of you! The sailing club beach is adjacent & the town beaches & seafront a short stroll beyond the beautiful pier & dive centre. The National Trust beaches at Studland are only a 10 minute drive or bus trip. Take a game of golf at the Isle of Purbeck Golf Club, pop to the pitch & putt or tennis courts in town. Entertain the children on the playing fields & park. Enjoy the great restaurants, inns and shops. Take a trip to Corfe Castle on the Steam Train & visit the breath-taking monument. A truly magical / unique location which will please all age groups

Notes
- Notes on accommodation: The cottage is mid-terrace & we enjoy a good relationship with our neighbours. We kindly request that our guests respect this. To that end the cottage is not suitable for large loud groups or single sex parties, although we accept golfing groups are often single sex & are happy to accommodate as keen golfers ourselves. I am afraid that we are unable to accept pets. Outside: The front garden faces directly onto the sea with a magnificent view across the bay and seating for 8. There is direct access to the sea to launch kayaks etc. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bed linen, tea towels, dish cloths, hand & bath towels will be provided (excluding beach towels), for a mandatory additional £20 per week per bedroom occupied. The cottage is cleaned / bedding changed on changeover day & mid way on two week stays.

Simply stunning
We stayed in this beautiful cottage for our first holiday as a family. The cottage is stunning and has been renovated to an incredibly high standard. We were very comfy and the facilities were perfect for us and our 4 month old baby. The town is a pleasant walk away and we enjoyed spending time looking out at the wonderful views. The owner is really helpful and made sure we had everything we needed to make our stay a comfortable one. We would love to visit again.
I am so pleased that your stay was so special. It always gives me such great satisfaction to know my guests have a great time. Thanks too for the comments regarding the renovation as we took great care during this process. I very much look forward to seeing you in the future.
Warmest regards,
Elaine
A Perfect Holiday Home!
We are currently enjoying our 2nd holiday in this stunning coastguard cottage! The property is outstanding and has been renovated beautifully to an impressive standard making it a perfect holiday home! The owners give a fantastic welcome, which included Dorset Apple cake and beautiful flowers - a lovely surprise after a long journey. There is a perfect view around the beautiful Swanage Bay, which can be enjoyed from the garden, through the large sliding glass doors in the living room, as well as from the front bedroom windows. The upstairs attic double bedroom with en suite bathroom is a particularly outstanding feature of the cottage. We have stayed in Swanage over many years with our families, it was a favourite place for our Mum and Dad, and we now return with our own families! - This is by far the most beautiful property we have ever stayed in! Very highly recommended! Thank you so much.
I am so pleased that you have enjoyed my lovely cottage! I have put heart and soul into it and it is really gratifying to hear that my friends and guests enjoy it as much as I do. I take great pleasure in ensuring that everyone has a great time as is overjoyed with the cottage. Thanks so much for making time to post a review. I am very grateful. Very warmest regards, Elaine
Happy Days!
This cottage far exceeded our expectations in every respect and was great value for money. The whole building has been totally refurbished to an extremely high standard and all of the furnishings, appliances, kitchen, bathrooms, beds etc. are brand new! The view from the front sea facing bedrooms is just spectacular! The waterfront location is only a short stroll from the town and was just perfect. We bought fresh fish from a local fisherman using the slipway outside the cottage and ate it for dinner whilst watching the terns fishing that evening! You can watch the lifeboat launch on a Wednesday evening from the comfort of the front garden or take a stroll on the adjacent pier. There are endless activities, sights and walks including a UK Top 100 Golf Course nearby or for the less able a 9 hole pitch and putt in the town. Elaine, the owner was very helpful and accommodating and there was plenty of info in the pack at the cottage. We were so sorry to leave and will definitely stay again in the future.
Home away from home
We had a fantastic stay. We booked without seeing any pictures as the cottage was being renovated and we were not disappointed. The cottage is decorated to a very high standard with a beautiful kitchen, comfy and cosy bedrooms and a nice sized lounge for 4 adults and a toddler.
There is a nice outdoor space over looking the sea where you can get lost whilst watching the world go by.
There was excellent communication from the owner who was very helpful and answered my questions promptly.
