Pretty Barn Benenden, 1 bedroom with ensuite, open plan reception with outside terrace within walking distance of village shop and pub.

Peaceful, picturesque and stylish self-catering holiday accommodation in a traditional converted barn. Located on the outskirts of the pretty village of Benenden, famed for its historic girls' school and connections with the Domesday Book and excellent country pubs. Conveniently located close the the Wealden towns of Cranbrook, Tenterten and Tunbridge Wells. With endless walks, gardens, National Trust and English Heritage properties, Sissinghurst, Scotney, Bodiam and Great Dixter ideally situated on your doorstep. Alternatively London is 55mins by train or pop over the Channel to France for the day. The barn has been recently modernised and has a fully equipped kitchen so you can prepare locally grown produce from the many award winning farm shops and wineries in the Weald of Kent.

About Sophie Verschuur

We moved from London 5 years ago to this beautiful and well placed area in Kent. Over time we have collected an array of pets: dogs,cats, rabbits and chickens who can regularly be seen roaming the garden. We are relaxed and easy going and are always happy to help our guests in anyway whether it is information or recommendations. We run our holiday let for pleasure and so far everyone has been fantastic.

Notes on accommodation: We like to welcome our guests personally to Freshwater Barn providing a clean, comfortable and relaxing place to stay, Picked flowers in the bedroom and bathroom and a home made cake with tea and coffee are provided. The property is strictly non smoking Tea,coffee and milk are provided on arrival as well as a freshly baked cake, hopefully using our own eggs. Outside: Private parking Path leading to Barn Pretty Private Patio Table with benches and parasol Surrounded by seasonal flowers Views over the rest of the garden Free roaming chickens, cats and dog Utility Room: Separate loo and wash hand basin Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen and towels are included for two people. Should extra sets be required prior notice must be given. Tea towels and oven gloves as well as cleaning products are included. Other: Long open hallway with large church pew, ideal for storage and casting off boots and coats after long walks.

Lovely well-equipped cottage for two with charming and helpful host - highly recommended!

Although we visited just after the snows, we had a lovely time exploring East Sussex and Kent for which this is a great location. Sophie's cottage is lovely , warm and well-equipped, the bed gorgeously comfortable and the shower fantastic! The flowers and freshly made cake were very much enjoyed! The outside area will be lovely in the sun at a different time of year - fortunately we had planned on exploring..

As the owners of a well behaved but chicken-curious terrier, the only thing which would have made things a little more relaxed would have been partitioning off the outside area from the garden - perhaps by a waist-high picket fence or something, so that we could have let the mut out to nose around without him always having to be taken on a lead - but hey.. I need the exercise.. All in all a lovely stay and we would definitely come again, thanks Sophie!

Peaceful and relaxing

The cottage is small but fully loaded and the garden and is excellent,

Location wise the property is just outside the village of Benenden on a not to busy road.

The property also benefits from direct access to a public foot path at the rear ideal for dogs.

The owner is very friendly and helpful

Downside internet and mobile signal are weak

Super location to go for gardens and golfing

We had a wonderful quiet, relaxing holiday fortnight in Sophie´s cosy cottage and enjoyed homemade cakes, fresh beans and beetroot direct out of the garden, lovely walks right from our little home into the fields and to Benenden´s community store, the local pub and church- a perfect location to discover a number of wonderful gardens and golfcourses just within a 20minutes drive, also the beautiful coastline which is not far away. We loved the chickens, friendly dogs and cat in "our" garden near our private terrace. We will always love to come again! Hella and Ulli

Tranquil, beautiful cottage and setting

The cottage at Freshwater Barn is in such a beautiful location, peaceful and tranquil. The location gave us the opportunity to explore much of the Kent and East Sussex area, and the local pub including the food was second to none. The cottage is in such a lovely location, beautiful inside and well equipped. Our host, Sophie and her family, were so welcoming and available to answer any questions and be at hand if we needed anything. Will definitely be going back, and would highly recommend to anyone !!!

Great location, lovely host, it has all you need to self cater, welcome cake was delicious. Although the bed was very comfy, the sofa could have been more so. That said I'd recommend anyone to stay here.

A really lovely place. Lots of tiny touches that made it special. All cooking utensils were available for preparation of meals and the property was spotless! In fact, this was the best equipped holiday home we’ve ever been to. The owner was very kind and welcoming. Great location for exploring Kent. All in all a wonderful holiday.
