Excellent location - spacious property - easy communication
We were in town for a wedding. Communication could not have been better and Linda even picked us up from the station. Less than two hours after we arrived we hosted 20 people and never missed a beat in terms of plates, glasses etc.
View was obviously great, rooms and bathrooms are all large and comfortable. Had a wee issue with a smoke alarm but saw what Linda did so used that trick a couple of times - probably needs to be checked.
Even the weather held out for us and we used the from deck a number of times.
Locally try McCaskies down by the ferry terminal for local food. Simply the best black pudding I have ever had. They were out of haggis but went next door to the butchers and heated it up for me to try. Ultra helpful staff.
Used Inverclyde Taxies to get all over the place - they were also great.
Overall would do it all again in a minute. Highly recommend the whole experience.

Two families had a fabulous stay in North Cliffe Manor. The location was near so many great attractions, and the pool was clean and fab. The amenities in the property had everything a big group could need and the hosts were discretely on hand for help and advice if needed and were very friendly and welcoming. Stunning Views, Brilliant Hosts!!
My Family and I stayed at Nick & Linda's property for our first trip to Scotland. I cannot recommend it highly enough for anyone travelling in Scotland. The property is absolutely beautiful, with stunning views and is perfect for large families or groups of friends. Nick & Linda are easily the best hosts I have ever encountered and cannot do enough to accommodate you and make you feel at home. They are always willing to help and offer suggestions of things to do, places to go and restaurants to try. I hope to return to this beautiful property very soon!
A beautiful house in a spectacular setting!
We had a great weekend at this beautiful house which was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Linda and Nick could not have been more helpful from advising where to eat to driving us to restaurants and the ferry. We would definitely recommend this property and will be back for another relaxed break.
Our return to Northcliff Manor
Upon our second vacation returning to Linda's beautiful spacious home at Northcliff Manor all we could say was...."We are home!". Perhaps the combination of me having Scottish ancestry and Linda's impeccable generosity as a hostess I feel like a family remember returning home for a visit. After a 10 hour flight from California there is nothing better then to arrive at Northcliff Manor and be enveloped by the gorgeous serene view of Weymss Bay out your front window. As if that isn't enough you also have the exact same view out of your bedroom windows upstairs! And of course you receive a very warm welcome from Linda upon arriving and she can answer any and all questions you might have. Her home is a very hard place to leave...you have to return!! Beth is also very professional and answers all email enquiries immediately and sends out all info you need as a visitor to Northcliff Manor. I HIGHLY recommend this gracious home for a true home away from home experience!!! And yes.....we will return...again!!
Very nice property,situated perfectly and with a very helpful and considerate owner.
The holiday was a very pleasant experience better than expected and we managed to get all our plans carried out.On the one hand you had the peace and tranquility of the area when needed and with Glasgow only a short drive or train ride away you had the opposite if that took your fancy.
All in all we had a great week and I would not only recommend the property but would hope to return in the future maybe when the pool is open and the children could get even more enjoyment out of it.
I would also encourage visitors to have at least one day in Rothesay,again a very short trip across the water but well worth it.
Wemyss Bay is an attractive coastal village about 7 miles from Greenock and Largs and approximately 30 miles from Glasgow. From its pretty Victorian station, considered one of Scotland's finest architecturally, trains to Glasgow take just 45 minutes.
Also 45 minutes away, by ferry, is the Isle of Bute. If you'd like to explore a larger island, the Arran ferry leaves from Ardrossan; or a smaller, the little Cumbrae ferry makes the short crossing from Largs frequently. Dunoon on the Cowal Peninsula is just under an hour from Gourock. Staying on the water, the marinas at Largs, Inverkip and Troon offer charters or sail training and all have good restaurants.

Back on dry land there are many beautiful walks in and close to Wemyss Bay, among them the Greenock Cut, rated as one of the top 50 walks in Scotland. From Greenock it's a fairly level 7 miles, with some spectacular panoramic views over the Firth of Clyde or you could start off at Wemyss Bay and walk from there, adding an extra 3 miles, have coffee at the visitor centre along the way, finish at Drumfrochar Station and catch a train back.
