Located in the beautiful village setting of Foolow
Lea Cottage forms part of our main home Kirk Lea a beautiful Grade II listed converted barn with exposed stone and vaulted ceilings. Located in the heart of the Peak District makes Lea Cottage the perfect place to explore the beauty of the White & Dark Peaks with easy train networks to Sheffield and Manchester you'll be amazed you hadn't thought of Foolow as a base before.
Foolow itself is a traditional village made up of a small number of properties and prides itself on its welcoming atmosphere. Local scenery and walks are truly outstanding with traditional field patterns common to this area.
When you enter Lea Cottage you are struck by how light it is, its wooden floors with occasional rugs, traditional beams , high ceilings modern kitchen and a recently refurbishment en-suite makes for a home from home holiday.
Please note there are traditional open stone steps leading to the bedroom which some people may find difficult, so care needs to be taken.
Lea Cottage is run by myself Louise and my partner Scott, our son Jude and Rigsby the dog. We have lived in the village for 11 years now and love the slow pace of life and the friendly neighbours, even the winters are enjoyable.
I am a keen cyclist and can often be seen cycling with the ladies of surrounding villages and have become an expert on " tea stops " so can recommend lots of good cafes and of course being a Geordie can always recommend a good pub or two.
As a dog owner I can also recommend some excellent walks straight from the door . Unfortunately the cottage is not big enough to accommodate a dog.
We can also offer a home cooked meal freezer service should you wish to really relax and not have to cook, just as for details or remember you can always get your local supermarket to deliver using postcode S32 5QR.
Please note the calendar is up to date, telephone 01433 639958 for more information.
Louise Charles purchased this cottage in 2004
We initially bought the property as we'd just had our son and were looking for a property which had the ability to rent part of it out meaning I didn't have to go back to work and Kirk Lea was perfect with is "granny annexe." Granny is not happy that we rent it out so frequently.
We entered the village to the sight of a village green, duck pond with 4 ducks on and a local pub "PERFECT" we thought and you know we were right.
Foolow reminds me of when I was growing up greeted with a wave and a smile and everyone knowing everyone it does sound gushy but this is how we want our son to grow up.
Come and enjoy the tranquility and get lost in the beautiful scenery and enjoy a more relaxed pace of life you'll not regret it.
You can visit the many beautiful National Trust properties in the area and of course the beautiful Chatsworth House but to be honest just standing on the top of the hill enjoying the sounds of the birds is enough to make you truly relax.
For the more hearty we have a local outdoor swimming pool at Hathersage, heated of course and seasonal so please check opening times and the views when swimming are truly magnificent and its worth getting the train from Grindleford or Hope Valley to Edale just for the views "breathtaking "
