This traditional town house is built in local stone. It is centrally located in a private cul-de-sac off a quiet one-way residential street close to the centre of the village of Ambleside. Spread over 4 floors it has lounge with wood burning stove, west facing bay window, comfortable sofas. The dining room has solid oak floor and leads into a fully fitted kitchen with access to the rear orchard garden. The first floor has fully equipped utility with extra freezer. The master bedroom with views towards Loughrigg, and en-suite WC/shower room. The house bath/shower room has cast roll top bath with separate shower cubicle. Constant hot water from Gas boiler and heating. Second floor has two further bedrooms one with king size bed and views over the fells to the west. The second bedroom has a single bed with views of Wansfell to the east. There is a substantial cellar for storage. Gardens to both front and rear with bike store and garden furniture furniture. WiFi provided.

2 Parking permits supplied for adjacent streets. In addition, there is a space directly outside the property not affected by local traffic regulations.

We have just returned home after another super holiday in the Lake District. We have again enjoyed staying in "Fernlea" and wish to thank you for so promptly organising the installation of a replacement dishwasher for which I can say we all appreciated greatly.



Over the last 45 years my husband and I have frequented the Lake District at least twice a year. Our needs as a family have changed over the years and now we have a granddaughter we are back to renting a property and we love "Fernlea" - it's proximity to the town centre, Rothay Park, Loughrig and as a central point Ambleside is excellent. We also like the style, standard and cleanliness with which "Fernlea" is furnished, appointed and maintained.

Notes on accommodation: Fernleigh is a typical village family house. When you book with the owners there are no admin costs. Visitors are provided with a code for a key safe at our properties. No need to travel for or return keys to a remote office. Pet friendly properties close to excellent dog walking paths to the fells. Easy walking to facilities with bus stops close to property. Outside: Small garden to the front with privet hedge and seat. Larger walled garden to the rear with mature planting and apple tree. Slate flagged. Garden furniture. Small outhouse for bike storage. Views of the fells. Access to rear lane. Secure for pets. Utility Room: Situated at head of first flight of stairs the fully equipped utility doubles as a drying room and laundry. Washing machine, tumble drier, sink, central heating boiler, storage cupboards and second fridge freezer. Storage for iron and ironing board. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bed linen and towels are provided. The beds are made up and ready for use upon arrival. Other: Substantial cellar. Whilst this is not offered a part of the let space it is left unlocked.

Great spacious, comfy and centrally located proper

Lovely spacious property, big comfy bedrooms, great bathroom with a lovely big bath, ideal for a soak after a long day's walk. Very central for the town centre with its abundance of shops, cafes and amenities. Quiet location with its own parking which can be a bit tight but didn't cause us a problem. Would definitely return and recommend

Travel:

Good access to all bus services in Ambleside. Public transport to Keswick to the north, Windermere, Bowness, Kendall and Lancaster to the south. Langdale, Coniston and Hawkshead to the west. There is no need to drive this is such a well served area.

Further Details:

Fernleigh holds a sought-after location at the heart of Ambleside village, close to Grasmere world-renowed for the inspiring surroundings that moved William Wordsworth to write his best-loved poetry. Stocking up is easy at Booths supermarket (Keswick / Windermere) but there are Tesco and other major and specialist retailers in Ambleside. Martins, the hardware store are renowned for their range of 'essentials'.

Walks nearby include easy routes to Grasmere and Rydal Water, or more challenging routes on Fairfield. Walks to Loughrigg are amongst the owners favourites. The route to Skelwith Bridge past the 'old golf course' and down to Clappersgate give fantastic views of the Langdales and Lake Windermere. These walks are not taxing but routes along the ridge to Pavey Arc and return along the valley are more testing. Bus services will take walkers up Greater Langdale from where they can walk back!

Public transport very close to Keswick and northern Lakes. Also to, Windermere, Bowness, Kendal and Lancaster to the south.
