About Jennifer Denning
Hello, I am Jennifer, owner with my husband of this property. We are a London family, with three children who are now in their teens and early twenties. We have been fortunate enough to be able to buy two holiday homes, and we really love sharing these homes with guests. My aim is for these houses to be a real home from home, for you as guests as much as for our family. So they are comfortable, but not grand, well equipped but not flashy. Just comfortable, relaxed, homely environments. I hope you will stay, and love them just as much! Jennifer

Why Jennifer Denning chose Portscatho
Maralane is our home from home in Cornwall. Our children have grown up with days of playing on the beach, sailing, surfing, swimming, and then cosying up around the fire playing games or watching films. Of course, we love coming down here in the Summer, but windy Autumn walks, or frosty winter mornings are wonderful too. The village needs to have its houses open, and buzzing with people, who will love the village, its pub and shops, the sailing school and all the many local activities. And so, we love to share our home with guests from far and wide, who also come to love this peaceful corner of the Roseland Peninsula.

Wonderful location, had everything we needed
A great location with wonderful views out over the sea. We stayed for the Christmas period and enjoyed a wonderful relaxing stay at Maralane. The village has everything you need and we will defiantly be returning.
Good combination of old world charm and modern facilities at the cottage.
The beds and bed linen are all to a very good standard and the en-suite facilities are very good.
Very thoughtful owners ensured that we had everything we needed, including logs for the fire. This was very much appreciated and shows that the owners really care about the guest's stay and experience.
The cottage is very well equipped for a family stay and very comfortable, thoroughly recommended to other travelers wanting to visit Portscatho.
Thank you for sharing your lovely cottage with us.
A peaceful cottage in the centre of.the village. Wonderful sea views. Well equipped
A comfortable stay with the best beds and bedding. Loved it. Kitchen had plenty of pots and pans for us as we love to cook. Fridge/freezer could do with being a bit bigger but that is just a minor niggle as worktop space would be limited by a bigger appliance.
The outdoor wooden chairs at the front are broken so we were to use these. Would need replacing, especially for a larger family who want to sit outside to make the most.of the views.
Overall, a fantastic stay and would.most.definately want to book again. Thank you to the owners who allowed us to experience the beauty of the Roseland area.
Thank you for your review, and I am so glad you enjoyed your stay.
The garden furniture is in course of being replaced (will be complete by early Dec 18).
A lovely home for our family celebration
We found Maralane to be a very homely property with wonderful sea views.
Portscatho is a lovely village with good amenities, great pub and great beaches.
Thank you for your review Jane, I am so glad you had a good stay. Jennifer
fantastic property, brilliant view
We really enjoyed our week in this beautiful house. Beds were exceptionally comfortable with good linen, pillows etc. Kitchen was well equipped, and the living space very comfortable and spacious. When it wasn't raining we spent most of our time out the front of the house taking in the breathtaking view. Lovely village, well stocked village shop and good food and friendly staff in the local pub. Wouldn't think twice about booking this property again. We were visiting gardens in cornwall and this was well located if you have a car.
Fantastic family holiday in beautiful surroundings.
This is a wonderful house in a beautiful village. We had everything we needed. From Maralane you can walk to the beach, shop and of course the Harbour Club. Thank you for giving us a wonderful holiday with our little boy. We can't wait to come back.
I'm so glad you had a lovely time with your little boy!
Good position and facilities
Well stocked and maintained property in a lovely position a stones throw from the water. The attic rooms look as though they have been recently converted - and to a high standard. Please be aware there are steps to the property and stairs to all the bedrooms and bathrooms. Parking is a little tight (as is getting there!) so a large estate car or 4x4 would be impossible to park.
Portscatho is a charming port, and has just enough there so you don't have the need to go on regular shopping trips. Two pubs, a cafe/restaurant and part time pizzeria gives a reasonable choice of venues, and of course the Hidden Hut a short walk across the cliff tops.
We had an enjoyable week and would definitely rent this property again.
Delighted you have had a good stay at Maralane, and found everything to be as hoped.
Quite right about the steps, there is no step-free access.
Just for people who read this before coming down, there is room for one car to park in front of the house. We have a large estate car, and used to have an XC90 and have always been able to park. Sometimes, all the four houses in our little grouping have a car outside, and we all then park on the diagonal to ensure everyone has space. But you are right to say it can get a bit tight in holiday season, as when you were at the house, so useful to keep that in mind. And yes the turn into North Parade is narrow.. All good points and I will have a look at the wording in the hospitality app to try and make it a bit clearer.
We would be delighted if you decided to come back and stay at our house again!
Portscatho itself has a fishing harbour - with a couple of local boats still landing fish daily. At low tide there is a pleasant little beach with excellent rock pooling!
This is a great spot to swim from as well.
Just a few minutes walk along the cliff path (turn left out of the house) is a gorgeous National Trust beach, with a knock-out beach cafe. Again, great for swimming and body boarding in an Easterly breeze.
Percuil inland and upriver from St Mawes is perfect for sailing and boating
Portscatho is on the Roseland peninsula. Truro (with its mainline station) is half an hour's drive away, across the King Harry ferry or by the main road.
Newquay airport is 24 miles away.
There are buses that connect Truro and St Mawes to Portscatho.
From St Mawes you can take ferries to Falmouth, and Place on St Anthony's head. Most of the extensive network of ferries run year round.
The cottage is right on the South West coastal path.
Truro 15 miles - cathedral town with good shopping
St Mawes 6 miles - ferries to Falmouth, shopping, the Tresanton hotel, excellent dining options
Falmouth 16 miles (or by ferry from St Mawes) - National Maritime museum, cinema, lots of independent shops, marina
Eden project - 20 miles
Porthcurno 45 miles - Minack Theatre and Porthcurno telegraph museum
The village has an excellent pub, under new management. There is also a harbour club, that has regular open mic nights, films etc. The Boathouse in the village is a pleasant low key restaurant and tea rooms.
The village shop stocks a wide range of food, newspapers, drinks etc, and has a very good bakery.
There is also a Post Office, doctor's surgery, and various art galleries in the village.
