Two very smart contemporary style cottages, finished to a high standard, in a quiet rural location with stunning views. Both cottages have energy efficient ground source under floor heating. The French doors open onto the patio and generous sized fenced garden, with patio furniture, own private hot tubs, barbecue and sun loungers. Free wifi, car parking. Dog exercise field, Bike store and stables are also on site.

David, Caroline, Robert and Jenny welcome you to Middleton Cottages, we are a farming family that have built these gorgeous cottages to a very high standard as we want our guests enjoy luxury accommodation in a quiet rural location, and as we are a passionate about our beautiful area and all it has to offer, we want our guest to relax amongst our stunning views after a fun day exploring.

Why Caroline Bainbridge chose County Durham

As a growing farming family we wanted to diversify, but wanted to diversify into something which we were all really passionate about which is Middleton Cottages. From our initial ideas, to designing, building, looking after, and meeting guests, we have loved and continue to love our cottages and all they have to offer.

Middleton cottages are perfectly located to explore the area and our cottages boast stunning views, private hot tubs, private gardens, and inside they have large open plan living space, underfloor heating, range cookers, en suites and much much more.

Notes on accommodation: Maple and Damson cottage welcome pets (max 1) Outside: Both cottages have private generous sized gardens with views of the Cleveland hills, and both cottages have own private hot tub, patio with outdoor furniture, barbecue and loungers. A large fenced Dog exercise field is also on site.

The cottages are ideally located for exploring the area by car, foot, bike and horse. We have a secure bike store and bespoke stables if you wanted to bring your own bikes or horse on holiday and enjoy the many cycle and bridle ways.


The very pretty victorian town of Saltburn with its own pier and cliff lift is approximately 18 miles away, beautiful Whitby is approximately 40 miles away. Pretty coastal towns and villages between Saltburn and Whitby well worth a visit.

Further Details:

The cottages are ideally located to explore the area. The pretty village of Great Ayton, the birthplace of Captain Cook is 6 miles away and the local train takes the scenic route from here, through the North Yorkshire Moors Eske Valley to Whitby, on route you can switch to the steam train to either Whitby or Pickering. The Cleveland Way can be joined at numerous locations within 6 miles, walk up to the top of Roseberry Topping and Captain cooks monument (see both landmarks from the cottages) and take in the scenic views. Day trips to York, Whitby, Helmsley, Thirsk, Bedale, and enjoy the many attractions suitable for children and adults. Hutton Rudby, Osmotherley, Hilton, are just a few lovely villages nearby boasting country village eating pubs, (some are pet friendly). The nearby market towns of Yarm, Stokesley, and Northallerton, are lovely places to enjoy shopping and have Lunch or Dinner. Supermarkets do deliver to the cottages and the nearby market towns have plenty of places to buy food and even have markets and farmers markets.
