About John Lansley

We currently live in Scotland where we are renovating a castle for use as a holiday rental. We have two grown up children and a beautiful new grand daughter. We have one dog who travels with us to France and up and down the country.she loves nothing better than being in the car going somewhere. We love travelling and exploring new places, we became involved in holiday homes because of our own love for self catering accommodation and to try to provide that little bit extra or bit different. Each year we try to improve the houses as much for our benefit as for our guests, as our family and ourselves enjoy the house and surrounding area.

Why John Lansley chose Angus & Dundee

we have been overseas on and off for the past 10 years and John has now retired and we wanted a new project and this one came along.

we fell in love with the area and the history of the castle

Brilliant was ideal for a family get together

  • 5 of 5

Very impressed with the property ideal for our family get together age range 6 to 70 - the grand children had a terrific time (playing hide & Seek). All facilities that we needed were provided the pictures on the website gave a little idea of what to expect but reality was better . Even a deer, red Squirrel, and loads of pheasants in the garden. The owners were very accommodating allowing different start dates and then being most welcoming on our arrival. taking tine to show us around and explain things. I've already been telling friends what a terrific place it was

A Fantastic Family weekend for young and old alike

  • 5 of 5

From the minute we engaged Sue and John, we were comfortable that we were dealing with professionals who knew what they were doing. They helped us all the way along the way and were very much part of your planning process.

The castle is stunning. Secluded enough to guarantee privacy yet well located to ensure that there were places to call upon food and refreshments if needed. The interior of the castle was faultless and we spent many hours exploring and finding new nooks and crannies everywhere we went. A game of hide and seek is essential in this wonderful castle.

I would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking for a wonderful adventurous weekend.

Thanks Sue and John

What an amazing place Colliston Castle is....

  • 5 of 5

We had the most fantastic time ever, even my husband, who was a tad apprehensive about staying in a castle, but he admitted defeat....everyone of the 12 in our party had the most amazing time. We didn't want to leave!

We will definitely be recommending Colliston Castle to all our friends and we all hope to visit again.

When we arrived and had first sight of the castle - wow is an understatement. The photographs on the Internet didn't do it justice.

Thank you so much. Lynn

Medieval Magic!

  • 5 of 5

Collision Castle was the setting for a most memorable weekend between friends. Our hosts were incredibly polite and hospitable and we were treated to a lovely tour at the outset of our stay. The splendour of the premises was exceeded only by it's grandeur. It was clean throughout, there was plenty of hot water and free fire wood and the castle grounds themselves were also stunning. Cannot recommend it highly enough, I'm certain we will be back!

Fantastic property!

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic time celebrating a surprise 70th birthday party at the castle. There were 15 of us, including Grandma, Grandad (birthday boy), children and grandchildren and every one of us had a fabulous time. There is loads of room for everybody to either do their own thing or take part in family activities - perfect for hide and seek! The castle is lovely and warm - not what you would expect with a 16th Century castle! The bedrooms are all a great size, the reception rooms are huge, fabulous kitchen and plenty of bathrooms for us all. The grounds are amazing and the kids had great fun playing football and playing in the Wendy house. We used local caterers (Jenny's Catering) for a special meal and the food was first class, so they are highly recommended and great value for money. Sue and John are the best hosts ever and bend over backwards for any special requests. We are now thinking about having another celebration at the castle because we had such a fabulous time. Thank you for letting us stay in your magical home!

Great venue for family celebration

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect place for our family gathering with grandparents, children and grandchildren. There was room for every family to have its own space, the children loved exploring the castle and grounds and the public rooms provided space for everyone to be together or seek some peace. The beds are very comfortable, nice bedlinen and fluffy towels provided. The kitchen had everything we needed and we could all sit down together in the dining room to eat - loved the serving hatch from the kitchen which saved lots of walking. We had trips to Lunan Bay and Arbroath Abbey, played football in the grounds and just had a fantastic time. Thank you!
