About Mrs Cathy Peplow
Reston Mill Cottage has been the family holiday home for more than 25 years. I took over running the cottage from my parents in October 2014. Since then the cottage has had several updates & improvements. My husband Phil & I make many visits to Reston both to do regular maintenance and to enjoy the area on bikes & on foot. Our principal interest is road cycling and enjoy riding the quiet lanes in the beautiful area south of Staveley and the challenge of climbing all the high passes. We live in Staffordshire and run an internet based bespoke curtain & blind making business - we hope that you like our handiwork!
Why Mrs Cathy Peplow chose South Lakeland District
This is our 2nd home and we like to make it as homely and welcoming as possible. We provide almost everything that you would have in your own home, All of the furniture has recently been replaced & is of excellent quality & very comfortable. The central heating is powerful & warm and heats the cottage very quickly, even in the depths of winter. In addition to the central heating, there is an open fire with a plentiful supply of hardwood logs.
Sports & Adventure Activities
We loved staying at this warm, cosy cottage in Staveley. Loved everything about it and the beds where so comfortable , so enjoyed a good nights sleep. The village of Staveley was also lovely with a good pub serving excellent food. There where two excellent bike shops nearby , so an added bonus for my husband. We would love to return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this lovely cottage and the area.
Had four nights here over the May Day bank holiday and its was great.
The cottage has everything you need for a nice comfortable stay. The sofa and chairs are really comfortable as is the double bed.
The kitchen appliances worked well and although we only needed it on our first night the central heating warmed the place up really quickly.
We had fantastic weather and walked the 7 or so miles along the dales way into Bowness on Windermere one day and caught the train back and another day we walked 7 miles around Hugill hall and Kentmere valley, this walk we found in the ‘walking file’ in the cottage.
We enjoyed food and drink in the Hawkshead brewery (0.7 miles walk from cottage) and great food and drink in the watermill inn at Ings (1.2miles walk from the cottage).
Yes we would definitely return and enjoy this cottage again, only hope we can reorder the weather!!
Thanks so much for letting us stay here Cathy.
comfortable cottage close to Windemere. Very good value
stayed for a week with 2 young kids. Cottage was very comfortable and handy for touring around the lake district
Cosy cottage, everything you need 😃
2nd time we’ve stayed here, loved it just as much as the first. Lovely, clean, cosy cottage. Fab walks, good bus and train links, if needed. Then wind down in 1 of 3 local pubs, great food and a variety of cask ales. Hopefully will revisit soon.
Excellent facilities, very clean and warm
The cottage is very well equipped with all the facilities you could need. The heating can be adjusted quickly to suit all tastes and be warm and cosy when needed. Village and amenities are all within walking distance. Very comfy beds, and as a light sleeper the thick curtains were great and the house is in a quiet area. Would definitely recommend. Thanks Cathy
