Beautiful restored trullo previously lived in permanently by the owners as their family home and now offered for holiday rental. The spacious and homely accommodation comprises of a living area and open plan kitchen/dining area, large main bedroom with king size bed and en-suite shower room, twin bedroom (can be made up as a double on request) and main bathroom. To the rear of the property is a verandah providing the perfect place for shaded al-fresco dining, and leading out to the private swimming pool of 10 x 5 metres. Steps lead up to the roof terrace which is perfect for watching the sunset, as well as taking in the 360 degree panoramic countryside views which stretch across to Locorotondo, Cisternino and Martina Franca. The trullo sits in its own grounds of 10,000sqm and is situated at the end of a quiet no-through country lane with olive groves and vineyards. The location provides wonderful open countryside views, and is just 7km from the beautiful Baroque town of Martina Franca and stunning hilltop town of Locorotondo. The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Alberobello is just 10km away, and just a little further are the popular towns of Cisternino and Ostuni. Beaches on both the Adriatic and Ionian coasts are easily reached within a 45 minute drive. The airports at Bari and Brinidisi are both roughly a 70 minute drive. The English owners live just down the road from the trullo and as such are available for help and advice if required, such as restaurant recommendations, suggestions of places to visit etc etc, whilst of course insuring your total privacy at all times.

A place to relax
I can honestly say that me and my husband (and I am sure I speak for our friends) found the trullo a beautiful place to holiday. The countryside setting is peaceful and very restful, with amazing fruit trees in the garden, particularly the fig tree which was well used.
The Trullo is beautifully appointed, with all linens supplied, and the kitchen well appointed. The owners even leant us a slow cooker! The owners are near by and nothing is too much trouble. There are great views from the roof to the surrounding towns. The pool is kept beautifully clean and cleaned throughout holiday.
If you want a relaxing holiday in a lovely area, in a beautiful trullo then I would highly recommend this rental.
perfect escape in rural Puglia
We had a fabulous and relaxing holiday in this private restored trullo surrounded by the tranquil Puglian countryside. The trullo is very well equipped and we especially liked the spacious bedroom with a door onto the terrace and a short step from the pool. When the temperature rises this is a cool retreat. The pool is lovely, well maintained, and the perfect place to float and enjoy the open views. We also loved the roof terrace, a great place to look at the stars at night.
The trullo is in an excellent location to enjoy the delightful white washed towns of this area, several a short drive away. We especially loved Martina Franca and the delightful experience of the 'passegiata' in the evenings.
Sarah and Nicholas are superb hosts, providing all the information we needed to make our stay a very happy one.
Fabulous house in beautiful Puglia
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Trullo Martinese. It's in a quiet, rural spot, with great views from up on the roof terrace across fields with olive trees and vines. But it's a short drive to the lovely towns of Locorotondo, Martina Franca and Alberobello. We had a week of very hot weather so spent a lot of time in the pool cooling off but then in the evening would pick a town for drinks, dinner, ice cream or sometimes all three!
The house has been thoughtfully set up as a home from home. The character of the original trullo has been preserved whilst adding up-to-date fittings. The decor is simple and bright with some local touches, and everywhere was spotlessly clean. We had everything we needed with a fully equipped kitchen, extra towels for the pool, plenty of toys for the children, a large selection of novels and local guidebooks.
The English owners live nearby and are available if needed for anything, but otherwise left us to enjoy the peace and quiet of the trullo. They were very friendly and helpful and obviously take pride in sharing this lovely place with visitors.
Highly recommended - we would certainly love to come back and stay here again.
Trulli amazing - this Trullo certainly is.
After searching for a place to stay in Southern Italy we were really pleased when we arrived for our week’s holiday at the Trullo.
The surrounding area is beautiful and the Trullo is situated at the end of a lane in the middle of the countryside – a perfect setting and good base for exploring the local area and not far to the coast.
The accommodation provided is great both inside and out - our daughters (aged 9 and 4) loved the swimming pool. The covered terrace at the property is a great place to eat al fresco and the roof terrace provides amazing views and a chance to have a glass of wine and watch the sunset.
The property is exceptionally well maintained and was very clean and tidy when we arrived.
Nicholas, Sarah and Gianliugi provided us with a warm welcome, the house book contained all the information we needed and they were happy to answer any questions we had during our stay.
All in all a fantastic property and we would highly recommend it.
A perfect holiday in a wonderful Trullo in a fascinating area
Our first trip to Puglia - and what a fantastic time we had.
The Trullo offers tranquility, peace and privacy - with views of open countryside and a garden with many fruit trees (and lavender) in bloom. The Trullo itself is wonderful - very clean with a high standard of fittings and appliances (wi-fi works perfectly!) whilst retaining the unique atmosphere of this fabulous historic home.
The pool is just perfect.
A short drive away you'll find several fascinating towns & villages. With few tourists in this area you'll get a real taste of Italy - and Italians! The choice of restaurants and local food is worth the visit alone - so many more that we need to visit
Just a 45 min drive takes you to the Adriatic coast where you'll discover numerous beaches with crystal clear water
The (English - now Italian) owners, Nick & Sarah, live "next door". As the Trullo was once their family home they are especially keen to ensure that guests get the most from their stay - and it shows. Unobtrusive and very helpful we couldn't have asked for more - thank you
We spent 2 glorious weeks on holiday here. Nicholas and Sarah made us incredibly welcome (including an arrival hamper) with handy tips for the area, and toys for the kids! The Trullo was very homely, and the pool was perfect for our two small kids. Beautiful countryside and a 15 min drive to Martina Franca, and 20 minutes to Locorontondo. We had a great 2 weeks, thanks Nic and Sarah!
Coast/Beach: The trullo is located inland and is roughly equal distance from the coastlines of both the Adriatic and the Ionian Seas. Beaches on both coastlines are reputed to be among some of the best in Italy and can be easily reached within a 35-45 minute drive. Travel: As the property is located in the countryside car hire is essential. The nearest airports are Bari and Brindisi, and both are approximately a 60-70 minute drive from the property. Distances: The property is ideally located for exploring all of the main towns of interest in the area. Martina Franca and Locorotondo are both just 7km whilst Alberobello is just 10km away. The popular towns of Cisternino and Ostuni can also both easily be reached within a 20-30 minute drive. The stunning city of Lecce is approximately a 75 minute drive, and the Sassi cave town of Matera is 2 hours. Further Details: The English property owners live locally, and have actually lived permanently in this property for the past 9 years, and are therefore able to provide a wealth of knowledge when required regarding all aspects of the surrounding area, towns, places of interest, restaurants etc etc, whilst of course respecting your total privacy at all times.
A damage deposit of £200 is payable at the same time as the balance payment, and this damage deposit is refundable and returned to you in the week following your holiday assuming no such damages have occurred.
