Leam House is located on the beautiful Isle of Portland, near the small village of Easton with its cafes, shops and bars. It is a 5 minute walk to Church Ope Cove and the Historic ruin of Bow and Arrow Castle overlooking the bay. The perfect spot to explore The Jurassic Coastline and wonderful Dorset Countryside All on the doorstep for you to enjoy. Portland Bill with its famous Lighthouse is a 10 minute drive away and the bustling Georgian Town of Weymouth is a 20 minute drive. After exploring this delightful area you can come and unwind in the hot tub and relax in the lovely garden that catches the sun all day into early evening. Or barbecue the fresh fish that you might have caught on the famous Chesil Beach.

About Jane Lyle

We came to Portland, as a family, when my father was in the Navy. It was only supposed to be for a couple of years, but we have never left. I went off to study fashion in Bournemouth and London, then onto the Cruise Ships to travel the world, but always wanted to settle back home in beautiful Portland.I came back after my travels and met my husband here. He is from the North and was working here, and stayed.We love the island and have enjoyed renovating a couple of cottages for others to enjoy the stunning surroundings on our doorstep. I m still involved in fashion and my husband teaches kite surfing. A very popular watersport with ideal conditions in Portland Harbour.

Why Jane Lyle chose Portland

A beautiful big house that has a large front window with plenty of light flooding the rooms. It was pretty run down,so we did a complete renovation from the top of the house to the bottom, finishing towards the end of 2009.

When we first entered,we were overwhelmed with the size. It went on forever it seemed. Like the Tardis. Fell in love with it immediately-it's character and long enclosed garden,ideal for our dogs. Very close to beautiful Church Ope Cove where I spent my summer days swimming, and 5 mins from shops,bars Tec. Easy access to coastline and bus routes Area is lovely.

What makes this house unique

As above, but best of all, everything within walking distance.And benefits from the lovely hot tub in the garden. Especially a delight under the stars

are all within a 10minute drive away,aswell as England's only natural World Heritage Site. Lyme Regis with its Famous Cobb and Charmouth for its fossils are all with in easy reach by car. Paddle boarding,kite surfing and windsurfing are the popular water sports, aswell as sailing, catered for with instructors available to teach

This property is overpriced and of need some maintenance .

This property is in a good location but needs unfortunately the owner seems to be concerned with making money and not the comfort or safety of the hirer.

The white goods in the kitchen are old and need replacing. The microwave is rusty,the dishwasher does not work properly,and the door of the cooker was falling off . The tumble dryer did not work and the freezer was located in a shed in the garden

The outside area is not maintain and the hot tub was dirty .

There was insufficient placemats and the mugs resembled a collection from a charity shop.

The seating in the sitting room was dirty.

The blind in the bathroom did not work.The whole house felt rather neglected and needed updating.

Owner's Response: Unfortunately, these guests forgot to mention the damage they caused including an expensive bed (broken in two) that they refused to pay for, (repairs) 5 nights into their stay. After a phone call previously stating everything was wonderful, their attitude changed when asked for payment for damages, (several items - clearly stated in paperwork, that breakage must be paid for) We have had a very busy year with no complaints of cleanliness. And the mugs?? - all different patterns and colours??????

Beautiful house, excellent location

The house is very large, it used to be a guest house and as such is a bit of an odd layout but charming non-the-less. It was lacking in essential items such as scissors and salt and the garden had not been maintained well. The grass desperately needed cutting and the outdoor dining area was overgrown. The location of the house is brilliant, a short walk to church ope cove, couple of miles to the lighthouse. Tesco is a 2 minute walk, as is a little playground and pubs, takeaways etc. Loads of free parking on the road. On arrival we found a lovely welcome hamper and a note from the owner explaining a few details which was a really nice gesture. The hotel tub was really relaxing but could have done with a scrub. Fantastic sound system and plenty of tvs in the house. Overall, we had a wonderful holiday and would recommend this property as value for money.

looks small from outside but massive on the inside

lots of places to see, hot tub was great, house very warm slept with windows open, seafood festival was on while we were there, buy package if going to dinosaur museum 5 tickets for price of 2(dinosaur-teddy-terracotta army-king tut and mummy museum) also if you like seafood pre-book for crab house café on chisel beach(closed Monday) Tesco 5 min away
