Cottage in Rock, Cornwall, England - Rural Location Between Rock, Polzeath And Daymer Bay

This spacious property has a large mature garden with secluded areas for reading, and a large lawn for ball games and hide and seek. The garden consists of mature trees, shrubs and flowers which attract wildlife. To the front of the house there is a shady verandah under which a peaceful tea or evening drinks can be enjoyed. The dining area has easily opened French windows allowing guests to enjoy eating outside where there is a large garden table and chairs. The kitchen has a Rayburn cooker, which during the colder months maintains a constant warmth throughout the house. The sitting room which seats 10 comfortably has the benefit of a large wood burner with a basket of logs provided. The area in which the cottage is located has a wide selection of attractions:- the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, National Trust Gardens including Trelissick and Lanhydrock. There are wonderful cliff walks along the coastal paths of the rustic North Cornwall coastline. Polzeath beach is well known as one of the best surfing beaches in North Cornwall with lots of cafes, restaurants, surf shops as well as surf lessons and board hire. The beach has life guards during the summer.

Daymer Bay is at the mouth of the camel estruary and is a big sandy beach leading all the way up to Rock with sand dunes behind the beach. The waves are smaller than at Polzeath so more suited to swimming and wind or kite surfing.

Grenaway beach is between Polzeath and Daymer Bay and is a great beach at low tide for rock pooling. Rock is great for sailing, water skiing and other water sports. From here take the ferry over to Padstow and visit some of the famous Rick Steins restaurants or one of the many other great restaurants, cafes and bars.

A delight!

A fantastic time had by all. The property was clean, tidy and had every kitchen utensil, pot, pan, crockery and cutlery you could ask for. The party included 4 adults and 2 children (5 and 7) plus 3 dogs and the garden provided sufficient space for cricket and football but is not fully enclosed. There is a pond in the garden but this has been securely fenced off.

The property is in walking distance of Rock and there is a pleasant walk (20 minutes) across a well marked path into the village (although some places were very muddy), this cuts off the road walk which would take significantly longer. The Rock and Roll Plaice in Rock provides a good fish & chips take away service, but maybe a bit too much salt on the chips.

We definitely recommend this property and will hopefully be back in the future.

fantastic property

What a fantastic property - very clean, light and well furnished. Plenty of space for our party of 9 (5 adults and 4 teenagers). The lounge was really cosy, especially when we lit the log burner in the evening. A couple of minutes drive from our favourite beaches at Daymer Bay and Polzeath. Nice pub a couple of minutes walk away. What a great place to spend the week!

Great Accommodation, Great Location.

We stayed at Moor Cottage with our grown-up children and grand child. The accommodation boasted the most equipped kitchen we've ever encountered. The location was on the edge of Rock and great for access to not only Rock and Padstow, but also the surfing beaches on the north coast. Plenty of room for 8 adults and two dogs. The information pack sent out after we paid for the cottage, contained information on everything you can think of in the local area, a real bonus.

We will definitely be back.

Everything is provided for you

This is the second time we have stayed here. Very impressed with the space, white goods and kitchen items provided, this is a holiday home where all you need to bring is food.

Very close to beaches and many tourist attractions but when the sun is shining the garden is a lovely place to sit and soak up the sun.

Delightful Cottage

We really enjoyed our stay at this delightful well equipped cottage for a family get together. This is the first time we've done this sort of thing and we weren't disappointed. The cottage was very clean and well maintained. There was plenty of room for everyone, we were 8 adults and 2 children aged 7 and 21 months. Good location, just out of Rock village and we walked to Daymer Bay to Rock along the sands as the tide was out then had a couple of pints in the Rock Inn. We also did the Camel ride from Padstow to Wadebridge on a tandem! Would definitely recommend this cottage and we hope to return in the very near future.

Amazing

First time we booked with Owners Direct as I like to know everything about a company I use, I was really impressed by how smooth the booking and payment was. The cottage itself was absolutely beautiful, so spacious, the grounds were so pretty and large. The cottage was immaculate and I am a fussy person, could not complain about anything Lovely central position to tour around, plenty of local shops and pubs. I would recommend and have recommended this cottage to my friends and colleagues.

We are able to accept dogs only by prior arrangement, we charge £25 for bringing a dog or dogs. We ask that treatment for worms and fleas is up to date. There are electric heaters in the bedrooms which can be used if needed. There is a Rayburn in the kitchen and a wood burner in the lounge, the house keeps very warm. Outside: There is a big outside wooden table with chairs. The veranda at the front of the house provides a lovely place to sit and have tea or evening drinks. Utility Room: Washing machine, tumble drier, large fridge, freezer and pulley clothes airer. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen is provided and the beds will be made up ready for your arrival. Hand towels and bathmats will be in each bathroom.
