Cottage in Rock, Cornwall, England - Rural Location Between Rock, Polzeath And Daymer Bay
This spacious property has a large mature garden with secluded areas for reading, and a large lawn for ball games and hide and seek. The garden consists of mature trees, shrubs and flowers which attract wildlife. To the front of the house there is a shady verandah under which a peaceful tea or evening drinks can be enjoyed. The dining area has easily opened French windows allowing guests to enjoy eating outside where there is a large garden table and chairs. The kitchen has a Rayburn cooker, which during the colder months maintains a constant warmth throughout the house. The sitting room which seats 10 comfortably has the benefit of a large wood burner with a basket of logs provided. The area in which the cottage is located has a wide selection of attractions:- the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, National Trust Gardens including Trelissick and Lanhydrock. There are wonderful cliff walks along the coastal paths of the rustic North Cornwall coastline. Polzeath beach is well known as one of the best surfing beaches in North Cornwall with lots of cafes, restaurants, surf shops as well as surf lessons and board hire. The beach has life guards during the summer.
Daymer Bay is at the mouth of the camel estruary and is a big sandy beach leading all the way up to Rock with sand dunes behind the beach. The waves are smaller than at Polzeath so more suited to swimming and wind or kite surfing.
Grenaway beach is between Polzeath and Daymer Bay and is a great beach at low tide for rock pooling. Rock is great for sailing, water skiing and other water sports. From here take the ferry over to Padstow and visit some of the famous Rick Steins restaurants or one of the many other great restaurants, cafes and bars.

A Superb Cottage
Our party was 5 adults, 2 children and a dog. There was plenty of room for all of us without getting under each others feet. The children loved the garden to play football and other games. Everything was ready for us and immaculately clean. The kitchen had all the wares for cooking and eating and it was nice to have the dining room right by the kitchen so we could talk (and have a glass of wine) while the food was being cooked. There was a log burner in the lounge for late chilly evenings where you could cosy up. The cottage was very near to local beaches, Daymer bay was great for swimming and playing on the beach, Rock was only about a mile away and Polzeath about 3 miles, all easy to get to. We were lucky to have nice weather so not only enjoyed our days out but enjoyed our relaxing evenings back at the cottage. Kamila was lovely to deal with and replied to our emails straight away and returned our deposit within days of us leaving. It was such as super cottage that we are going to return next year, can't wait.
Lovely house, great location!
Really recommend staying at this fab house. Easy reach of surf beach in polzeath, lovely walks on the SW Coast path and a short hop into Rock and the ferry across to Padstow. Great space for all eating together in the kitchen/diner. And a lovely garden just adds the finishing touch. Only suggestion would be for a BBQ.
Simply perfect for our holiday with family and friends. Everything there you could possibly need.
This was our first ever time away sharing a property with friends, children and dogs and we all loved it. We felt at home the instant we arrived and none of us wanted to leave. The kitchen had everything you could have needed and the garden was absolutely beautiful. The property is simply but stylishly decorated with more than enough space for 9 of us and 3 dogs. The local beaches are a short drive/walk away and the Cornish coastline is absolutely stunningly breathtaking! We also had Sunday lunch in the local pub at the top of the road which was fantastic. We all agreed that we’ll be booking again.
Lovely family holiday home in great area.
We stayed here over the New Year period and all of us enjoyed staying at Moor Cottage. The house was very well equipped and had everything we could want. The only thing would advise is for a larger TV in the lounge and maybe one in the main bedroom.
There is a lovely garden at the property - plenty big enough for outside play. The location is great - near to Rock and in walking distance of the lovely local pub The Pityme inn.
We would definitely recommend this property and would stay here again ourselves.
The owners were helpful and the place was clean and tidy on arrival.
A great house, perfectly located
We had a late August week - four adults, three teenagers and two under 8 (and two dogs). The house was great, perfect for our needs. Close to Daymer and Polzeath beaches and the shops are a short walk or even shorter drive. The kitchen is well equipped and the WiFi is fast and unlimited (vital with teenagers in the house). Our only small suggestion would be to make the garden secure (with some fencing) to allow peace of mind with toddlers and dogs, given the road outside. Also, a barbecue would be welcome. Overall though, Moor Cottage was perfect for us.
