Barn in Blackawton Nr. Dartmouth, South Devon, England - Woodside View Stands High On The Side Of A Classically Beautiful South Devon Valley
The overall appearance of Woodside View is similar to a barn conversion with the lower walls in natural stone, upper areas clad in cedar wood and the roof is in local slate. The design is intended to blend in with the surrounding woodland and countryside. The large feature apex window affords superb open views of the woods and skyline where the sun rises. Ideally situated with Dartmouth 4 miles (10mins drive) and the other principle towns of Totnes, Kingsbridge and Salcombe within easy reach.

About David and Karen White
We moved down to the South Hams in 2010 after living in Bath for 25 years. This area was well known to us after having spent many enjoyable holidays with our family in the past. We are now semi retired and are fully integrated into the local community.
David and Karen White purchased this Barn in 2010
Why David and Karen White chose Blackawton
We wanted to be close to the main principal towns in the South Hams - Totnes, Kingsbridge, Salcombe and Dartmouth. David in particular has always had a desire to be close to the sea and beaches.
What makes this Barn unique
Blackawton seemed the ideal choice for our move being just outside the village but within walking distance from local pub, restaurant, village shop etc. With its wonderful panaramic views and wildlife we knew Woodside seemed the perfect location.

Excellent accommodation in beautiful location
Very high quality place to stay in the perfect location for exploring South Devon. Easy access to Dartmouth for restaurants, shops and the historic estuary. We recommend the nearby coast path walks and staying at Woodside View!

Woodside View Cottage
Disappointed with our stay at this cottage due to following reasons.
Cleanliness.. the furniture had not been moved for cleaning showing dust and hair under all tables, the headboard was made from fabric and the top of it was thick with dust and had hairs on the front of it. The floor around the toilet and the pipes were thick with dust and the toilet bowl had not been cleaned. Found pubic hairs on wall by the toothbrush holder. There were quite a few cobwebs with dead spiders in.
Comfort.. the settee had feather filled cushions which upon sitting compacted down and had no support making it feel like sitting on a wooden seat, the bed was advertised as medium on one side and firm on the other, but the mattress was extremely soft on both sides.
Welcome pack.. information about the cottage states some milk will be provided on arrival, we did not have any milk or any other form of a welcome pack as is usually provided by owners, however there were a few teabags and a jar of used coffee.
We had a lovely week staying in Woodside View. Everything you could have needed for your stay, very very clean. Wonderful views from the big window and extremely confortable. Visited lots of places. Dartmouth is lovely, used park and ride which was great as there is not much parking in Dartmouth and was very busy. It was great to just sit by the river and watch all the different boats used some of the ferries to cross over to Kingswear. We would definitely stay here again if staying in this part of country. Thank you for letting us share your beautiful home with us.
Thank you very much for your kind review on Woodside View. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay with us and look forward to welcoming you back in the future.
With best wishes

Woodside View is extremely comfortable and very well looked after. There is everything you need for your holiday including the free bird of prey display courtesy of the lovely buzzards.

Furnished & maintained to a high standard.
The apartment is furnished to a high standard and is well equipped. It is in a quiet location with wonderful country views. The owners kindly loaned us extra kitchen equipment so I could make a couple of puddings for a wedding we were attending.
Thank you for your review.
