Overview

About the property

Apartment on The Meadows, Central Edinburgh, Scotland - Easily Walkable To Everywhere, Moments From Edinburgh’s Incomparable Meadows And Bruntsfield Links

Formerly my home, and just revamped top to bottom, you’ll be in one of Edinburgh’s most smart, relaxed and young-at-heart neighbourhoods. Marchmont has always been characterised by academics, professionals and Edinburgh University students living easily side-by-side, and so it remains - Marchmont’s allure is as strong as ever. The streets are peppered with independent shops and eclectic coffee stops so you’ll want for nothing locally. however the blissful green expanse of Bruntsfield Links and The Meadows are two minutes away. Walking across the latter (under the gaze of Arthur’s Seat to the east) will see you in the city centre amidst all of Edinburgh’s attractions in 15 pleasant minutes. Accessed via a clean and well-lit shared stairway (kept secure by an entryphone system), the flat is happily only one flight up. And once inside you’ll appreciate the restrained but luxurious surroundings, the extraordinary period features, the high ceilings and sheer scale of the accommodation.

Notes:
Marchmont is a vibrant & free-spirited neighbourhood which is very at ease with itself, being smart but unpretentious - and the young-at-heart will feel instantly comfortable The flat is very dear to us having been owned for 20 years, and having been home. This, and the good relationship we have with our excellent friendly neighbours, means it's never going to be a party pad so it won't be for everyone. But respect that view and you'll find an endearing home-from-home to which we feel sure you'll want to return. Sadly at this time we can't accept pets, and do note that the apartment is strictly non-smoking. Do get in touch for a friendly response to any questions you might have, and if you decide it's for you we wish you a good time and wonderful memories. And haste ye back! On your arrival the property will be set up with fresh bed linen, towels and dish towels. You can wash anything easily any time, but for longer stays extra linen can be provided by prior arrangement. A quiet and warmly-lit den off the hall provides a sanctuary for working, reading, study or quiet time. Blackout blinds throughout, whilst the hall provides loads of clothes-hanging space and a walk-in storage cupboard.

The perfect place to stay in Edinburgh!

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough good things about this lovely flat and the owners Martin and Weng. The flat is convenient to much of Edinburgh, spotless, bright and supplied with all that is neeed for a very comfortable stay. Martin and Weng are impeccable hosts who have thought of every detail that a traveler could want and then some. They were fabulous at communicating from the day we booked through our departure. They quickly answered our questions and gave appreciated advice. We have stayed in many VRBO properties and this is our favorite. We hope to be able to return one day.

Best place to stay in Edinburgh

  • 5 of 5

This has been our second stay in this wonderful apartment. Edinburgh itself is grand - this might be the at least the fifth stay and the longest. 18 days and we still have not seen everything.

Contributing to our marvelous sensation of Edinburgh is this apartment, situated in Marchmont south of the Meadows. Its location is central and ideal for trips around the city. Bus stops in front of the apartment (24) or close by (41), taxi stand opposite. A lot of small stores are in walking distance for your everyday needs.

The apartment is huge with spacious rooms and very high ceilings. It is fitted to a very high standard, very comfortably and homely. The living room overlooks the street and is ideal for enjoying your breakfast at the big windows watching people hurrying to work. The kitchen and sleeping room is facing the back garden and are very quiet.

In the kitchen you will find every appliance you need, even a wash-dryer.

Now, at home again, we miss the apartment and the warm hearted couple, Martin and Weng which are great hosts catering to every need.

Whenever we will revisit Edinburgh we will try to be back in this beautiful apartment!

Beautiful and comfy apartment in great location

  • 5 of 5

The apartment has been beautifully decorated and feels like home when you walk in. Comfortable king size bed in the back of the apartment makes it a quiet place to sleep. large kitchen that has been well stocked. We appreciated the bottle of wine and breakfast items provided for us . The location is perfect, a quick 15 minute walk and you're in Old Town, or can catch a bus/taxi outside the door. Highly recommend

Excellent location, comfortable apartment, with everything you need close by

  • 5 of 5

Large and tastefully decorated apartment situated in a great neighborhood with many amenities conveniently located , all within walking distance. Very nice walk across the Meadows (green space) in order to reach the city centre, but a cab stand is directly across the street from the apartment.

Martin and Weng are great hosts and communicators, so you will have all the information you need.

We enjoyed a wonderful stay in Edinburgh, on Marchmont Rd., and would highly recommend this apartment.

Prefect Place to Stay in Edinburgh !

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in any different VBRO properties in many countries and have had very good experiences.....and this is one of the best! This was our first trip to Edinburgh and the apartment could not have been in a better location or more comfortable and welcoming. The rooms are large, airy and really well furnished / decorated. We definitely got the sense that the owners must also be travelers and understood how to make a visitor feel welcomed. The communications and extra help was outstanding. The apartment was quite, clean and stocked with everything we needed and more. We loved the art work and our morning coffee in the sunning bay window overlooking the street. We really like Edinburgh and when planning to return our first e mail will be to see if Martin and Weng's apartment is available ! Would easily recommend to our many traveling friends.

Map

Car: not necessary

Coast/Beach:

The East Lothian coast with its myriad walks, links courses and pretty coastal towns can be reached quickly by car or train, as can the East Neuk of Fife with a string of charming fishing villages.

Travel:

Edinburgh Airport (with flights to Europe, and multiple daily flights to London) is reached by a cheap & regular bus service stopping at the West End, Princes Street, Waverley Station.

Edinburgh's mainline rail stations serve the entire UK.

Car use isn't required in Edinburgh since everywhere is walkable, but drivers will find paid on-street parking in surrounding streets (Mon-Fri) and free on-street parking a short walk away. Long-term parking is also found in the city's main car parks.

Distances:

Since Edinburgh is a compact city and a joy to walk around, distances are irrelevant given the proximity to the city centre. However those wishing to explore further afield will find Glasgow, Stirling, Perth and St Andrews within easy reach by car or public transport, with the majestic Highlands and the rural Scottish Borders quite feasible for day trips for those with a car.
