Apartment on The Meadows, Central Edinburgh - easily walkable to everywhere, moments from Edinburgh’s incomparable Meadows and Bruntsfield Links

Formerly my home, and just revamped top to bottom, you’ll be in one of Edinburgh’s most smart, relaxed and young-at-heart neighbourhoods. Marchmont has always been characterised by academics, professionals and Edinburgh University students living easily side-by-side, and so it remains - Marchmont’s allure is as strong as ever. The streets are peppered with independent shops and eclectic coffee stops so you’ll want for nothing locally. however the blissful green expanse of Bruntsfield Links and The Meadows are two minutes away. Walking across the latter (under the gaze of Arthur’s Seat to the east) will see you in the city centre amidst all of Edinburgh’s attractions in 15 pleasant minutes. Accessed via a clean and well-lit shared stairway (kept secure by an entryphone system), the flat is happily only one flight up. And once inside you’ll appreciate the restrained but luxurious surroundings, the extraordinary period features, the high ceilings and sheer scale of the accommodation.

Easing ourselves gently into semi-retirement means we have time to indulge the passion we have for our home. Notes:
Marchmont is a vibrant & free-spirited neighbourhood which is very at ease with itself, being smart but unpretentious - and the young-at-heart will feel instantly comfortable The flat is very dear to us having been owned for 20 years, and having been home. This, and the good relationship we have with our excellent friendly neighbours, means it's never going to be a party pad so it won't be for everyone. But respect that view and you'll find an endearing home-from-home to which we feel sure you'll want to return. Sadly at this time we can't accept pets, and do note that the apartment is strictly non-smoking. Do get in touch for a friendly response to any questions you might have, and if you decide it's for you we wish you a good time and wonderful memories. And haste ye back! On your arrival the property will be set up with fresh bed linen, towels and dish towels. You can wash anything easily any time, but for longer stays extra linen can be provided by prior arrangement. A quiet and warmly-lit den off the hall provides a sanctuary for working, reading, study or quiet time. Blackout blinds throughout, whilst the hall provides loads of clothes-hanging space and a walk-in storage cupboard.

Wonderful place and area!

Beautifully decorated with very large rooms and high ceilings. Quiet neighborhood, but still has lots of quaint shops, pubs, and restaurants. Easy ten minute walk to downtown area. Martin and Weng met us as soon as we arrived and were very helpful and great hosts! Thanks!

Martin & Weng were so warm and helpful and have maintained the beauty of this lovely flat. It is elegant and also comfortable, great location just out of the fray. It is immaculate. They have on hand everything guests could want and more. It was a complete pleasure staying there.

Had a wonderful visit to this fantastic city , so so much to see , the flat was perfect in both location and decor . Plenty of shops , coffee shops and pubs on your doorstep if you don’t fancy the walk into the city . We will definitely return to this flat .

Outstanding five star stay in Edinburgh!

We stayed in Martin & Weng's for 3 lovely nights. Our first impression was that their home was immaculate and were greeted with a most thoughtful welcoming gift of wine, sweet treats and breakfast items including tea, coffee and milk. We ventured walking through the beautiful "Meadows" park straight into Edinburgh center. The neighborhood of Marchmont is charming with everything you need within a couple of blocks. Taxi's available right on the corner though we chose to use Uber when exploring further than our "older" limbs could carry us. The flat was so relaxing and enjoyable to return to at the end of a full day exploring all the wonders Edinburgh & Scotland have to offer. Back to the spacious flat...bathroom was outstanding with a wonderful shower, bed was so comfortable, kitchen was huge with all new fixtures and large living room with comfy sofas and chairs. Make sure to visit the local restaurant/pub "Earl of Marchmont" where you will be warmly welcomed by the locals. If we are lucky enough to return to Edinburgh we would not have to look any further than Marchmont! Thank you again Martin & Weng...Cheers!

WONDERFUL STAY

We loved this meticulous clean and beautifully decorated apartment in Edinburgh. We met Martin and Weng upon checkin, they were so welcoming and provided us with so much info from transportation to where the locals go in Edinburgh. The apartment has absolutely everything you need to enjoy your stay and we need to mention that the bed and linens are the best. Coming back to the apartment at the end of a long day was homey and comfortable. Martin and Weng were in touch with us by email during our stay to make sure all was well and reminded us that they were available at any time if we needed anything. Thank you for a great stay in Edinburgh. 5 stars.

Great experience.

This flat far exceeded our expectations ... lovely, elegant atmosphere, sparkling clean, spacious and bright, with comfortable, eclectic furnishings. We thoroughly enjoyed preparing meals in the large, airy, well equipped kitchen. Each of our days involved hours of walking, exploring, and sightseeing and it was wonderful to come ‘home’ to the very comfortable livingroom, great TV selection, and the fast internet so we could plan our next day. Excellent location ... walking distance to the Meadows, the university, the Grassmarket, the Royal Mile, and multiple pubs, restaurants, and grocery stores. Many thanks to Martin and Weng for the warm welcome (staples, treats and wine), and the efforts made to get us into the flat as soon as possible as our overnight flight arrived in the early morning.

Car: not necessary

Coast/Beach:

The East Lothian coast with its myriad walks, links courses and pretty coastal towns can be reached quickly by car or train, as can the East Neuk of Fife with a string of charming fishing villages.

Travel:

Edinburgh Airport (with flights to Europe, and multiple daily flights to London) is reached by a cheap & regular bus service stopping at the West End, Princes Street, Waverley Station.

Edinburgh's mainline rail stations serve the entire UK.

Car use isn't required in Edinburgh since everywhere is walkable, but drivers will find paid on-street parking in surrounding streets (Mon-Fri) and free on-street parking a short walk away. Long-term parking is also found in the city's main car parks.

Distances:

Since Edinburgh is a compact city and a joy to walk around, distances are irrelevant given the proximity to the city centre. However those wishing to explore further afield will find Glasgow, Stirling, Perth and St Andrews within easy reach by car or public transport, with the majestic Highlands and the rural Scottish Borders quite feasible for day trips for those with a car.

Stay more than 6 nights = 1 night free, more than 13 nights = 2 nights free. Payments by bank transfer or personal cheque in £GBP sterling please. In the case of last-minute bookings, funds must be cleared before access can be given. A £200 Damage Deposit is required for very serious damage or very excessive cleaning, refunded within a day or two of your departure. Please note our cancellation policy and kindly insure yourself against cancellation.
