Guestbook comments from the owner

Lovely to come to Jasmine Cottage, cosy and warm. Ken and I have loved it here. We like it whatever the weather! Had a pheasant on the hedge, jays, doves, pigeons, little blue tits. We love the scenery and autumn colours, Skiddaw, the mist, the peace, everything. Could do with three weeks holiday here.

A lovely cottage with everything you need.

  • 4 of 5

The cottage was lovely and had everything we needed for a week away from home. Good cooking facilities, good showers and good beds. As a family, we are wi-fi dependent and the connection was great. This helps to keep the children quiet so we can have a bit of a lay in.

The village is in a quiet location, near good walks. It was easy to get to all of the activities we wanted to do. Keswick was the nearest supermarket. The Co-op was awful (the staff were very rude and the car park stressful). After this we went to Booths, which was very nice (as long as you can get a parking space). We found the secret to Keswick (and most of the Lake District) was to get your parking space before 10am. It is pure chance after this. Parking across the Lake District in August was challenging and expensive. Most car parks would only take coins, but not the new pound coin. We wished that we had taken £50 in 50p for parking, it would have made the holiday easier.

The owner was very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. The cottage was clean and well kept. The information file, leaflets and maps were great.

Our family enjoyed walking around Buttermere, The Puzzling Place (Keswick) and kayaking around Derwentwater (Keswick Outdoor Centre). Ullswater was also lovely.

A lovely, cosy cottage ideal for couples or small family very close to Keswick.

  • 5 of 5

Lovely, cosy cottage. Well equipped, nice and warm for a chilly February trip to the Lake District. Jasmine Cottage is ideal for 2 couples or a small family and a small cottage with 2 loos and showering facilities in both rooms was an added bonus. If you're using the kitchen remember to pack Tclothes as well as towels. For those not wanting to cook there is the Middle Ruddings pub a mile away in Braithwaite which allows dogs and the food is excellent.

Location is excellent, on my a few miles to Keswick and we'll sited for visits to many of the lakes.

If you've got a dog there are walks close to the cottage too.

Hope to make Jasmine Cottage a regular holiday in our annual calender. The owner Kate is very helpful and has made sure there is lots of informaction on the surrounding area.

Using Jasmine Cottage in Thornthwaite as a base, you are spoilt for choice.
