The Kitsteinhorn glacier offering excellent summer skiing and snow boarding guaranteed snow when most other resorts struggle. Traditional rustic Austrian chalet over 100 years old, that has been recently completely modernised inside into a contemporary open plan living area with dinning area that seats up to 12 adults comfortably and wood burner. The chalet is located in the center of the picturesque village of Piesendorf with shopping facilities only a few footsteps away. From the balcony you enjoy a fantastic view of the Kitsteinhorn glacier and its ski resort which is reachable within a few minutes by skibus - the bus stop is only 250 m away. The chalet (170 m²) offers a wide range of amenities such as a big sun terrace with luxury gas BBQ and a hot tub for 6 persons in the secure enclosed garden, a ski and skiboot room in the basement, an infrared sauna and a private gamesroom in the basement of an adjoining building with pooltable, Xbox, HD-TV with Sky and a double sleeper couch.
We are a large family. As a boy I fell in love with Austria and skiing. On my first school trip at the age of 11, I cried when it was time to get on the bus and come home! I started dry slope Racing at an early age and then went on to become a ski instructor so I could get out into the mountains. I and my children are also a keen freestyle snowboarders.; his is ideal as the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier has a brilliant freestyle park with one of the best half pipes in Europe. My wife is not as keen on skiing as my self and the children but she loves the sun. So the summers in Austria are perfect, temperatures can go as high. We all love Austria for many reason. The people are great and of course the breath taking majestic sceneries. The food and the beer are up there on the appreciation list.
We bought this house because the village of Piesendorf in our minds has it all. This is our second holiday home investment in Piesendorf. The Quiet location is close to some of the best skiing in the Alps. Zell am see , Kaprun and the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier- guaranteed skiing even if the alps are having a bad winter for snow at 3000m. Kitzbuhel/mittersil lifts- 30mins, Bad Gatstein- 40 mins, Salbach- 30 mins, Maria Alm (3 valleys- 30mims) , Weissee Glasier - 20 mins. Plus many other small resorts close by. We sometimes visit the Hintertux glacier in August to snowboard or ski, this is really great; this is about 1hr 30 mins away. The Kitzstinhorn glacier is open to the end of July usually. Great time to ski and snowboard as uaslly is it very quite after the racers have left at 12 noon.
Of course skiing is top on the list for us but there are many brilliant adventures to be had, whether you are walker enjoying the beautiful national park of Glaciers, drinking water lakes, huge spectacular waterfalls, like Krimel 300th biggest in the world! Swimming in the lakes.
The saying the "Grass is not greener on the other side" does not apply for Austria, as it really is. The air is so clean, and in the summer you smell the sweat smell of the grass that has just been cut, and continues to be cut all summer. The cold fresh air with smell of wood burning from houses stoves in the Winter.
There is an excellent 36 hole Golf course close by. rapid rides, mountain biking, summer skiing, excellent open air heated pool, skate board/ BMX park. Small train to take you into Zell am See etc
