About Naomi Carmichael
My family and I have lived in Foolow for the last 26 years raising our 3 children. We love the village and have made many friends. Croft View Cottage was our family home for almost 16 years and has been a holiday let for the last 10years. We maintain and manage our much -loved cottage ourselves and are usually on hand to help with any problems or queries.
Naomi Carmichael purchased this Cottage in 1980
Why Naomi Carmichael chose Foolow
Foolow is a beautiful conservation village centrally located in the Peak District within easy reach of Chatsworth House, Bakewell, Castleton, Eyam, Haddon Hall, Alton Towers, and Buxton. The village offers a quiet and friendly base to explore the Peak District National Park. The village consists of approximately 50 houses, a small church, village pond with ducks, village green, and pub. Many walks, short and long, are available from the door step and the village pub which serves food, is a two minute walk away.

Beautiful cottage in quiet village location
The property is a beautiful place for a holiday. The beds are comfortable and the cottage warm. I particularly loved the kitchen, light and bright. The village is tiny which suited us well. We also appreciated the interior, with some very fine hand crafted wood work, including beams, window sills and an interior porch. We really appreciate the love and care that has gone into creating this home away from home.
Thank you for your kind comments. We’re glad you enjoyed your stay and appreciated the new bed...and the woodwork! Hope to welcome you back sometime. Naomi and Andrew
Beautifully appointed and comfortable cottage
This cottage is a real gem. It is comfortable, cosy and homely but at the same time it is obvious that a lot of thought has gone into the furnishings and equipment and just the small things that make a place special. The fresh flowers which Naomi had left were lovely and the Easter card and eggs a nice touch. We would recommend it to anyone coming to stay in this wonderful part of the country whether, like us, for walking or just relaxing and seeing the sights.
A beautiful cottage in a lovely village. As first time visitors to The Peak District we didn't know what to expect, but the warm welcome from our hosts and the stunning countryside all made for a fantastic holiday.
The cottage has everything you would ever need and certainly plenty to occupy our 19 month old son.
The local pub is very friendly and welcoming and you are situated in the heart of The Peak Distict and therefore have access to the best the area has to offer, which is plenty!
Thank you Paul for your review. We were happy to welcome you and your family to Croft View Cottage and to the Peak District and are glad you enjoyed your stay.
It's true that we are very centrally located and Foolow is a great base for exploring the area and our guests do enjoy the proximity of the good village pub!
A lovely weekend in the Peak District
We stayed at Croft Cottage in April, 5 friends, and managed some lovely walks from the door, and a visit to Haddon Hall and Bakewell with the help of local buses.
The cottage was comfortable, clean and characterful, Naomi extremely helpful, highly recommend.
A beautiful, spotlessly clean cottage with everything you could possibly need. Beds were very comfortable; there were toys and puzzles for all ages. We are a family of 5 and the cottage felt very spacious - having 2 lounges was great!
Thank you for your kind comments! It's lovely to see a family enjoying our former family home and exploring the beautiful countryside round about.
Thank you for leaving the cottage so clean and tidy.
Fantastic family cottages with lots of charm
We have had a delightful week in Croft Cottage just as the autumn nights are really coming in. This is one of the best holiday lets we have stayed at. The cottage itself if charming and spacious, with two lovely lounges! The décor throughout is very attractive and well arranged. The village of Foolow itself is very pretty and the local pub is very welcoming.
We so enjoyed preparing the fire each evening and reading the numerous books and magazines about the area. My four year old daughter was overjoyed to find all the toys and especially the box of Barbie dolls to play with. Although this house is amazingly set up for families, it’s still luxurious and is suitable for any age. It’s clear that this home is loved by Naomi and her family and so you feel like you’re staying in a friend’s house rather than a holiday let. The countryside views were also a highlight.
The area is packed with things to do, even at the end of the October. We enjoyed many walks, Mam Tor being a highlight as well as visiting nearby Haddon Hall, Chatsworth, Heights of Abraham, Arkwright’s Mill and the historic village of Eyam. The local villages are scattered with fantastic coffee shops and country pubs. It was a short drive to the Chatsworth farm shop too. The area is full of natural beauty and we hope to return!
Thank you for your kind comments; I'm glad you had such a relaxing time at Croft View and that your daughter enjoyed the different toys and books! Hope to see you again sometime.
