Apartment in Porthminster, St Ives, Cornwall, England - Peaceful sunny location, close to Porthminster Beach, the harbour and bustling centre of St Ives

1 Porthminster Apartments is at the top of Porthminster Terrace, on the east side of St Ives, which means you don't have to negotiate the narrow streets of the town to get in and out. It is situated on the ground-floor of a recently converted end-of-terrace Victorian house with a dedicated private parking space, which is easily accessed, right outside the apartment. South-facing and sunny with a lovely sea view from the front garden and from the side bay window of the sitting room, the apartment is light and spacious, tastefully furnished and equipped to a high standard.

It has 2 twin bedrooms (with comfortable beds!). One bedroom has an en-suite bath + shower over, WC & washbasin and the courtyard leads from this bedroom. A separate large shower-room, washbasin & WC is next to the second bedroom which is quite separately located in the apartment. This provides considerable privacy - ideal for 2 couples or a couple with children.

A well fitted and equipped, open-plan kitchen leads from the spacious sitting/dining room where you have attractive, comfortable seating, plus a lovely coastal view from the side bay window.

Facilities include: free wi-fi, gas central heating/instant hot water, heated towel rails, duvets and bedding suppplied (towels can be supplied for a small extra charge), washer/dryer, electric fan oven, gas hob with extractor, microwave, freestanding fridge/freezer, dishwasher, double glazed throughout, flat screen digital TV in sitting room (Free-view included), DVD player.

Outside there is a front garden for guests' sole use and this also enjoys the fine sea view, plus a separate westerly facing courtyard for visitors' sole use. The location is quiet, yet a short 5-minute stroll to Porthminster beach, St Ives' bustling centre, harbour, galleries, restaurants and shops.

Please note that St Ives is hilly, and the apartment is situated on a short but fairly steep terrace. The walk to and from the beach and the town also involves some steps.

We had a wonderful time, the weather was brilliant, and the apartment is spot on. Lovely welcoming decor and furnishings - everything spotless.We didn't want to leave. It's in a perfect location for beaches and the town. And to top it all - a parking space!

Have just returned from my fourth stay at this beautiful apartment. We had a glorious week with sunshine every day, and felt thoroughly rested. It was lovely to be able to park right next to the apartment and then not have to worry about the car at all - as the apartment is so convenient for the town, galleries, beaches, walks, and public transport we didn't need to use the car once! We found everything we needed in Apartment 1 and were very comfortable. Many thanks.

Notes:
Easy access into and out of St Ives as the apartment is situated on the east side of town. There is an easily accessed, dedicated private parking space, suitable for most family vehicles, directly outside the apartment, between the courtyard and the front garden. Electricity + full gas central heating + free wi-fi included. Constant hot water. Lovely coastal views from sitting room and the south-facing front garden. Leading from the ensuite bedroom, there is also a sunny, walled and private courtyard with a westerly aspect plus a table and seats. Both outside areas are for guests' exclusive use, but please note we are in a quiet area and therefore our accommodation isn't suitable for partying. A communal path runs alongside the front garden. 4 minute stroll to Porthminster beach and St Ives' bustling harbour and town centre, with its great selection of shops, restaurants and galleries. Bedding and bed linen is included (beds are made up). Towels can be supplied for a small extra charge. Tesco supermarket 5 minutes' drive away.

Great holiday apartment

This apartment is lovely, comfortable and was spotlessly clean, The open plan living room / kitchen is excellent and each bedroom having its own bathroom was a great help for a busy family getting ready in the morning. The parking space is just outside and there is a small outdoor area to enjoy. It is very quiet at night too. There a few beaches within about 10 minutes walk and the town itself is a perfect distance away by foot, about five to ten minutes. We had a delicious meal at the Seafood Cafe, getting a table was actually possible but booking would have been best, all the restaurants were packed while we were there. Would we return? Absolutely!

Two oldish but young at heart Ladies in St Ives

Light and airy sitting room, sea view was nice to have. We had researched various properties and designated parking was a concern which this apartment provides.

2 bathrooms a definite plus although a little musty, but understandable because of position. Apartment very well equipped. Overall very clean but suggest supply bleach for loos rather than cheapish cleaner. Bought some Milton to remove tea stains from kitchen sink - other baby sterilising fluids are available at a cheaper price! We self catered for most evening meals but if needed to eat out; not many options nearby if guests not very mobile as very steep access to the town.

A plethora of instructions and notices but useful; maybe the amount of notices around the apartment are because people are careless and not mindful of taking care of someone else's property.

We felt very relaxed and enjoyed our stay and would recommend to more able and mobile friends and family, only because of the steep climbs down to the town. We travelled around West Cornwall to many attractions such as seeing a performance at the Minack Theatre and loved St Ives as a base as well as enjoying all that it has to offer. Mixed weather did not deter us but suggest you bring own DVDs, board games, cards and books if you need to be entertained in the apartment.

Overall, a comfortable and pleasant place to stay.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for your review, and I’m very glad that your overall holiday experience was positive. St Ives is hilly and many properties have a steep, although in my case short, walk into town, as I mention in my details. Although my cleaner always uses bleach to clean the loos, I don’t supply it as a courtesy, because this would contravene health and safety regs, especially concerning children. My cleaner is usually meticulous (see other reviews) but perhaps the tea stains you mention were subsequent to your arrival. The bathrooms need ventilating - you'll get a build-up of condensation if the extractor fans are not used properly. This is easy to forget in summer, because they come on with the light switches. The apartment has a TV, DVD player and free wi-fi, together with some books and DVDs. I try to leave what I hope is helpful information in order to ensure a smooth holiday for my visitors. I appreciate your feedback and thank you for taking the time to submit a review.

lovely appartment

a very convienent apartment with the benefit of car parking space. Everything you want in the apartment - great shower !! Happy to recommend it also nice and quiet in the evening steep walk uphill from the town but most places in St,Ives are in any event the same.

Excellent!

The apartment is excellent, spotlessly clean and a definite home from home. Has everything you can possibly need, it's a great size and the beds are extremely comfortable.

Ideally situated for the town and Porthminster beach, which is beautiful.

Contact with Lauran was easy and quick responses made for a wonderful stay. Would recommend to anyone.

Well equipped 2 bed/ 2 bathroom apartment.

Communication with Lauren the apartment owner is easy and responses for information are quickly answered. An important advantage in St Ives is the parking which accommodated our larger car.

There is everything you could need for your stay and we were very happy to have this cosy place to retire to during what turned out to be a rather damp week.

The beds are very comfortable and the whole place was beautifully clean.

We would not hesitate to recommend this ground floor apartment to friends and relatives.

Home from home in a fantastic location

We've just got back from a fantastic week staying in this lovely apartment, me, my husband, 5 year old and 10 month baby. The apartment had everything we needed and being on the ground floor made it easy to get in and out with the pushchair. The apartment is lovely and light and had everything we needed, the washer/ dryer was very handy with two small children. The location was perfect just a few minutes from the beautiful Porthminister beach and a 10 minute (if that stroll) in to central St Ives and all the cafes, shops and restaurants. We hardly needed to use the car which was great. Highly recommend it, we will definitely visit again.

St Ives is probably one of the most famous Cornish holiday towns in Britain with its clear blue waters, golden sands and friendly people. The mild sub-tropical climate, warmed year round by the Gulf Stream, is a magnet for visitors.

Life here wraps around the harbour where boats still land good catches of fresh fish for the local restaurants which are among some of Britain's finest. A maze of tiny cobbled streets to wander through, lined by fishermen's cottages, with a breathtaking seaside vista to greet you at the end of each one, entrances the visitor.

The Tate St Ives gallery occupies a stunning position with an unforgettable view on Porthmeor beach - not to mention its wonderful exhibitions!
