What a stunning holiday home - immaculately presented and with so many extras to make us all feel welcome. By far the best we've stayed in, in St Ives.The views are amazing and we loved spotting the house from The Island.

A great base for enjoying St Ives and the area

We chose this property because of its location in St Ives but away from the bustle of the town itself. We enjoyed our short walk to the amenities and the fact that there was parking on site. It was accurately described, had plenty of space and was well appointed, clean and comfortable. The only suggestion we would like to make would be to provide a separate WC downstairs instead of the laundry room.

When we first walked into the house we were wowed by the views from all the windows, you look directly onto the beach and the harbour part of St Ives is visible. The house was beautifully clean and tidy, and was decorated with Christmas theamed items to add to the festive spirit. The layout works really well, with the best views coming from the upstairs lounge. There was an elderly person within the group and they had no trouble getting around the house. The house is extremely well equipped with everything you could possibly want, and we were greeted with a hamper of items on arrival, which even included a bottle of bubbly! The house is a 5 minute walk from the beach, resteraunts and bars so is very well located. Surrounding the house are lovely walks in all dircetions, and you are around 30 minutes from Lands End amd other attractions so there are plently of places to visit if you wished to have a day out. The house is easy to find with ample off street parking. There is a very useful guide on how to use facilities within the house, with some good recommendations at the back. I will certainly be returning to the house without a doubt, and have recommended to many friends and family.

Wonderful family holiday home, best location

We have stayed in St Ives for a number of years for family holidays and this home is without a doubt one of the best we have experienced.

We are a family of five and stayed in the first week of June 2016 - with my mum and her partner and our two and a half year old son. Firstly, the area is superb and not one we have been in before. The walk down to the surfer beach is so quick through the side footpath, down hill on the way and a bit of a climb coming home! The house is in a wonderfully quiet residential area and the peace and quiet was fantastic. The road is mainly occupied by local residents and they were all so friendly. There is a great little corner shop located five minute walk away too so great for the morning papers and fresh bread for picnics.

We loved the upside down aspect to the house, with bedrooms and kitchen on the ground floor - plenty of space. One of the two front bedrooms (doubles) has great views of the sea. The bedrooms were spacious, comfortable with lots of hanging and drawer space.

I'm not sure we have ever stayed in a holiday home that has such a well equipped kitchen! It really felt like a home from home - with so much light pouring in. The dining room doors were brilliant for opening up the garden for an outside in effect - letting the breeze in while we all ate.

We loved the garden area, complete with outside shower. We did of course keep an eye on our toddler because there are some steps up to the main garden. A huge bonus for us was the washing machine (with a great quick wash) and the washing line - our clothes line dried in just hours in the St Ives air! Another reason we felt at home - and you can imagine the feeling of driving home as a family with so little washing!

If you are looking for the perfect sitting room to relax in on holiday then this house is the one - the view is simply stunning and the photos don't do it justice - the view of the sea and the beach is fantastic! The sofas are very comfortable and there are effectively two sitting areas, one near the TV and then one in the bay window overlooking the sea. We loved our morning coffee up in the window sitting area and then watching the sun set. It was so peaceful. There is a great toilet and shower room on the upper floor and a single bedroom.

Lastly, you couldn't hope for a more friendly home owner, Jo went out of her way to make us feel welcome and give us a holiday to treasure. We'll be back!

The perfect place for a happy family holiday

Every summer, we rent a house that's big and comfortable enough for my wife and I and our two grown-up girls (who live in London) and their partners (if available) and our son (who is still with us) and his girlfriend to stay as and when they can. Usually, not everyone can make it all week, but it needs to be big just in case. Two bathrooms, a washing machine and home comforts are a must. so is a good kitchen/dining area, as this is often the social hub.

We have been to some great places over the years and Velnoweth is right up there among the very best. For us, it was perfect. It is roomy, sleeps seven comfortably, has a beautiful and very well-equipped kitchen, and a floor-to-ceiling triangular window that lets in the unique St Ives light and give you great views over Porthmeor beach and the sea. It's perfect for social, family meals with a big, well-lit dining area next to the kitchen and siding doors that open out onto a patio that's also a sun-trap for much of the day. There's a good BBQ too, so it's perfect - rain or shine. For us, the sun shone almost the whole week, so we ate outdoors or with the windows wide open. The bedrooms and beds are comfortable and the housekeeper left us plenty of towels. There's a good washing machine and clothes dry fast in Cornwall, so you can afford to travel light. It was spotlessly clean and with two showers/bathrooms/toilets, there was no scrambling around in the mornings. The WiFI access is fine, - you just need to reboot the router now and then, which is no bother really. You are on holiday after all. You can plug your iPhone into speakers in all rooms and play CDs in the dining/kitchen area.

The location is great. It's away from the crowds, yet five minutes from a brilliant surfing beach; you MUST go body boarding at least once. Another must is the coastal path down to Zennor and Treen, The Tinner's Arms at Zennor and the church are worth the walk. If you want a slightly easier but very beautiful walk, drive to one of these places and walk between them. Local taxis are reliable and affordable and if you have two cars, you can ferry yourselves.

There is space for at least three cars outside but the London-based members of our party made it by train easily enough.

We had a truly memorable holiday at Velnoweth and will always remember it with genuine affection. At the end of the day, having quality time with your family and happy memories that will be with you always is what it is all about.

Brilliant home from home

We had a brilliant week here at Velnoweth. Beautiful, well equipped, well maintained, clean and fresh. Amazing views from huge upstairs lounge. Beds were very comfortable. Quiet location within a few minutes walk of the beach at Porthmeor and the centre of the town. 15 minute quick wash on washing machine was a real boon. Plenty of games , videos, books etc for wet days. A real family home from home. Thanks Jo and family.

The house has amazing views over the famous Porthmeor Beach, which is a very short walk away. All of St Ives' beaches are within walking distance.


Private car parking for 3 cars is provided at the house, which is great asset in St Ives.


The centre of St Ives is a 5 minute walk. The house overlooks the Tate Gallery, which is a 5 minute walk away.
