Le Chataignier is a beautiful house oozing with French character - the photos on the web site doesn't do the place justice! As a family of 4 we found that the accommodation was well stocked with everything we could possibly need for our 2 week holiday and the pool was enjoyed by all.
Chris and Eleanor were the perfect hosts offering advice on the local area and places to visit. They recommended the local village soirée which we thoroughly enjoyed and wine tasting, of course, at the local Chateaux.
Le Chataignier is perfectly situated for day trips to Bergerac and St Emillion which are full of French charm and well worth a visit.
Local wine is fantastic / weather was perfect and the French incredibly welcoming and willing to assist with our pigeon French!
Fantastic holiday - I'm sure we will return.
Thank you Chris and Eleanor for your wonderful hospitality. x
A very warm welcome , lovely helpful owners .the property is beautifully kept and very well equipped . One of the best hi yes / farmhouses we've stayed in .everything works .
This is an excellent well equipped property, private with a private sole use pool. The owners live at a nearby property, they are friendly and helpful but do not intrude on your privacy. The property description is accurate and it was clean on arrival. The pool was also superb and clean. There are two areas to sit and eat outside, one in the shade in the morning and the other great to use in the evening. The local town has a couple of shops and good restaurant with a big supermarket only 15 mins away in Montpon. Lac De Gurson is also worth a visit, we used it to cool down the dogs but it has a great beach and facilities for families plus it's free.
Overall highly recommended.
A very well-equipped 'bungalow' style villa ideal for four people. The swimming pool really made our holiday and we were blessed with great weather. The rear paved area had a table-tennis table which saw several 'tournaments' played in the cool of the evening. The only downside for us was that, sometimes in the evening we fancied a walk, but there was nowhere to go except along the roadside, but overall it was a great place.
After having problems with our car it was with great relief that we arrived at Le Chataignier.
It was the perfect place to base ourselves for sight seeing around the the area. Quiet and peaceful, Le Chataignier had everything you need for your holiday. whatever time of year you go.
Eleanor and Chris were the perfect hosts, there but not there if you know what I mean :-)
What a lovely place to spend your holiday. Gite was very comfortable. Chris and Eleanor were perfect in that they were there is there was anything that was needed. So pleased have booked again for next year, never done that in all the 20+ years we have been holidaying in France.
