About the property

Apartment, 5 Minutes Town/Beach, Bus/Train Stations, Sea Views, Parking For 2 Cars

Pelennor is a 2-bedroom apartment, ideally located 5 minutes’ walk from beautiful Porthminster Beach and St Ives town with its delightful mix of shops, galleries, pubs, cafes and restaurants. Why not wake up to lovely views from the Juliet balcony across the rooftops to the Island and St Nicholas Chapel and the ocean beyond…then breakfast in the bright open plan bay window looking towards Carbis Bay. We have re-furbished Pelennor to a very high standard, preserving the original corniced ceiling in the lounge/kitchen and added solid oak wood flooring. The two bathrooms comprise a contemporary ensuite and family bathroom with spacious corner shower and the added luxury of a free-standing bath. The bedrooms both have charming cream Victorian-style bedsteads and adjustable wall-mounted TVs. We're less than 10 minutes’ walk from bus and train stations; access by car could not be easier with space for two cars right outside. Ideal for two couples, a family of four, or a romantic break for 2. The property is not only within easy access of the beach and town but there is also the local tennis and golf clubs. St Ives Harbour Hotel offers full spa and leisure facilities. Contact

About Mark Shelley

Hello, my name is Paula and my husband Mark and I started visiting St Ives in November 2008 and have returned every year since. St Ives and the Cornish coast have become very special to us and we decided to try and buy a little piece of it in Autumn 2012. We were delighted to take possession of Pelennor in February 2013 and spent the next six months carefully preparing it for our first guests.

Mark Shelley purchased this apartment in 2013

Why Mark Shelley chose Saint Ives

Pelennor is part of Porthminster Terrace, which has so many advantages, not least its proximity to one of the most beautiful beaches in England. We love the character of the apartment with its high ceilings and fabulous views to the front and back and the fact that you can enjoy all the convenience of being in St Ives at the same time as being able to escape from the hustle and bustle when you want to.

What makes this apartment unique

One of the most obvious benefits is the view in both directions; towards the 'island' with the ancient St Nicholas Chapel perched on the hill top in one direction, and Carbis Bay and the distant horizon in the other. Our apartment is equipped and furnished to a very high standard, being brand-new in August 2013. Finally, to find a property in St Ives town with one parking space would have been a challenge - we have two!

We had a great time and will definitely recommend it to others.

Excellent apartment, very clean, great facilities and communication from owner.

This is the second time we’ve stayed here with our children. An excellent apartment with great facilities in a great location. On arrival it is spotlessly clean. Excellent communication from the owners make it a stress free process. Hopefully we will return again soon.

Splendid property

  • 5 of 5

The property was beautiful and well maintained and spotlessly clean, could not fault it but was let down by the entrance, no kerb appeal at all. Lots of weeds and paint pots outside and the front door needed painting and the entrance was a bit smelly

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind compliments, so glad you enjoyed your stay and thank you for your five star rating! We're sorry about the entrance which was a temporary situation prior to some minor refurbishments, now completed. We do welcome all feedback so we can act quickly as necessary - our beautiful Victorian front door and surrounds are due to be painted during our next quiet period.

The outside it is typical of Victorian architecture, the apartment is on the second floor.

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time that we have stayed there and it is very comfortable, well fitted with all immanences and quiet. The fact that you can park two cars on the property is another bonus. It is a five minute walk down the hill and into the town and along the front there are many eating establishments, our preference is the Lifeboat. The down side is that the five minute walk down is easy but after eating and having fun the return up the hill is a little daunting, but you get used to it. Like Scarborough you always seem to be going up hill. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone seeking an interesting Cornish break.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for the detailed review which is very welcome and will be helpful to future guests. Just to make one small correction; the apartment is actually on the first floor of a three storey Victorian terrace and not the second floor. Paula and Mark
