About Robin Barry
We first visited North Cyprus in 2008 and we loved the 'old world' charm of the country, if felt like we had gone back in time 30 years or more!! The people were and are so friendly and welcoming it is difficult not to love it here. From the remoteness of the Karpaz peninsula to the hustle and bustle of Kyrenia town and harbour, the old walled city of Famagusta or just a day spent lazing on one of the beautiful sandy beaches near the villa, it is the perfect place to relax.
Robin Barry purchased this Villa in 2013
Why Robin Barry chose Bahçeler
This villa is ideal for those wishing to make the most of it's private setting and swimming pool, you could have a holiday entirely based in the villa if you so wish or use it as a base for exploring the many beautiful areas and beaches of North Cyprus.

Villa Joseph is a terrific place to relax and have fun
It’s spacious, well equipped and comfortable, with air-con throughout, a beautiful clean private pool, parasols to hide from the sun, etc. It’s ideal for families and groups of friends.
Although we ate out a lot, we also cooked at VJ a lot, and found it had just about everything we have at home, in terms of utensils, etc. It was great, plucking lemons from the tree in the garden to put in our G&Ts.
When we weren’t following the tourist trails, we were chilling out around the pool, in the pool and occasionally inside.
Villa Joseph is a terrific place to relax and have fun and a great base for exploring North Cyprus. Well, most of Cyprus really, including the south-eastern Greek part.
We drove up the Karpas peninsula (55 miles from VJ to the tip) and crossed the beautiful Kyrenia mountains a few times.
The first time was on the main road starting near Gecitkale. The second was via the next south-north road to the west, from Gönendere and via Tirmen. This was a single-track road most of the way, with plenty of passing points, and with long views across the plain and Famagusta bay. At the top, we happened across Antiphonitis Church, a tranquil haven with fine frescoes and surrounded by pine trees and bell-wearing goats. Highly recommended.
In Kyrenia, we stayed a night at the Bristol Hotel, which was good value, clean and friendly. If you go, make sure you get a room at the back unless you’re stone deaf and wouldn’t mind the noise and rumble of constant traffic. We had a dear beer at the trendy Ego bar. It has barely changed from when I went 20 years ago, when it was called the Colony Hotel, or something like that. If you want to visit Bellapais and its gorgeous abbey, you have to go via Kyrenia and the signs are rubbish. Don’t make the same mistake as us. After visiting St Hilarion castle, we thought Bellapais was a short drive away, along a minor road on the map which, after much toing and froing and gnashing of teeth, we discovered had been closed for military use.
We had delicious meals at Kiyi and Iskele Balik, right next to the beach, nearer VJ. But our stand-out favourite was on the north coast: Sea Breeze, near Esentepe. We had a dozen unrequested (and free) mezes before the food we ordered came and by then we were just about stuffed.
We came back thoroughly rested, batteries fully recharged by solar power.
We would love to thank Robin & his wife for letting us stay at there wonderful villa,we had couple of small problems which robin put right straight away,we stayed at pool most days which kids loved, but beach & famagusta is nearby,we hired cars and there is plenty to go and see, this is well worth a 5 star rating, just looking at flights for 2015,thank you to both of you for making us welcome in your beautiful home, see you soon Dean,Becky & Mia xx
