Beautiful gites in Charente

About Stephen and Catherine
We spent over 2 years, countless hours of internet browsing and several visits to France to find Tillac in beautiful Charente. We have the opportunity to share the property and surrounding's with family, friends and future guests who we are sure will enjoy it as much as we do.
Stephen and Catherine purchased this Barn in 2017
Why Stephen and Catherine chose Plassac-Rouffiac
Living here let's you know you are in rural France. The place has presence on the edge of the hamlet and has history. If you want a relaxing holiday with little or no light, air and noise pollution then you need a rural location like Tillac. The huge barn has been masterfully converted into gites and owners accommodation and is set on the edge of a hamlet with lovely rolling countryside views. The heated pool in the lower garden allows us to operate an extended summer season with temperatures in the mid 20c to the end of September. Tillac is a place of peace and tranquility in which to relax and unwind during your holiday vacation. Civilisation is not far away with the village of Mouthe-sur-Boeme a short 4 km drive away. The local bakers (our favourite) is a few minutes drive and Villebois Lavalette with it's chateau and castle is within a 15 minute country lane drive.
What makes this Barn unique
Families come here for the peace and quiet to get away from the racing around of their everyday lives and to recharge their batteries. Families who have a dream to holiday together can rent the 2 Gites (capacity 14) which have a connecting door or extend that to include the cottage making the capacity 19. Holidaying together will create a truly fabulous family holiday experience and everlasting memories. We fell in love with this property because of the peace and tranquility, the clean air and country location that make Tillac a great place to relax in a stress free environment. Clear night skies, Crain and Swallow bird migrations and a varied garden are ideal for photographers, nature lovers and painters alike. The surrounding country lanes and pretty villages provide mile upon mile of opportunity for walkers/hikers and cyclists

Excellent family holiday
We rented the two largest gites that can be if you wish inter-connected for a large group of family and friends age ranging from 70yrs to 16 months. We had a marvellous time and the swimming pool was a big bonus. This is a lovely spacious gite with beautiful grounds and wide ranging views. It is a very quiet area and no evening eateries nearby but we were quite happy sitting outside in the evenings, drinking wine and watching the glorious sunsets.
Thank you for your feedback Caroline, we are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Tillac.

Fantastic gite, fantastic hosts
We have stayed in a number of gites in France and this was the best yet. Steve and Rosemary (on site) were attentive but respectful of privacy and always on hand to advise of a good day trip! They really embraced our families and kept the site in perfect order. The gites themselves were clearly a labour of love, the views fantastic and the location perfect. We'd thoroughly recommend to families of all ages. The only problem was getting the children away from the pool to explore the region!
Thanks again to you both x
Many thanks for taking the time to write this very favourable review of your stay with us. We are very pleased that you all had a wonderful time and we would certainly welcome your return sometime in the future.

Worth spoiling yourself
How amazing to see 12 faces light up, after an 11 hour car journey, on arrival at this fantastic Gite. Warmly welcomed by Rosemary and Steve who were a fountain of knowledge throughout our stay offering recommendation of places to visit and venture to. The Gite was immaculate and offered our group of 6 adults and 6 children (72 years old to 11 years) ample accommodation as well as every facility and utensil we would need for our self catered stay. The Gite is set in ideallic surrounding with a stunning outlook over the pool to the corn and sunflower fields beyond. The pool, which is meticulously maintained through Steve's attention, is stunning and our whole group were more than happy to spend the vast majority of our stay just lazing around the edge, dipping to cool off or even adventuring in for a game of water volleyball. The area is quite and a car is very much needed to get to shops and restaurants, I enjoyed visiting La Couronne and spending hours just walking around the huge Auchan supermarket where you can buy just about anything and the commercial area surrounding it has places to eat (kids always like a visit to McDonalds no matter where you are and they were not disappointed!). I would obviously fully recommend this Gite (home) to anyone and would certainly visit again. Steve and Rosemary are fantastic hosts and certainly made our stay something we will always remember and look back on with very fond memories.
We were delighted to have you all......so glad you enjoyed your stay.

Tolle Unterkunft in sehr ruhiger Lage
Sehr schöne Unterkunft in ruhiger Lage.
