Clean and spacious, lovely setting

  • 5 of 5

Nice location, private converted barn with all mod cons. Was very cold and wet when we stayed but the barn really warm and welcoming. Kay was really helpful and recommended some fantastic locations to visit. Very central for New Forest, Milford on Sea, Bournemouth and Studland etc. we would definitely stay here again.

Family Break

  • 5 of 5

We visited the New Forest and Kate's barn, the end of the school holidays for two days, to visit our daughter studying in Southampton University. We are a family of two adults one teenager and an eleven year old.

Kate was waiting for us on arrival with a lovely smile and a great welcome, everything explained beforehand through email and text. Kate offered lots of advice as to trips and days out. The barn itself was lovely and warm, spotlessly clean and in a beautiful location, everything you need was in the barn. Lots of DVD's and a Wii for the younger kids. I just wish the weather had been a little warmer, to make use of the beautiful patio area, which was so nice and had a great view of the garden. Kate and her family live next door in the main house, they do not intrude into your holiday time, however are there on hand if needed The area is outstanding, quiet and peaceful. We spent the first day in Ocean Village for a walk around the marina and had a well earned coffee, following an exhausting drive from Manchester. Our second full day was visiting Lymington, try the fish and chip shop in the village, gorgeous fish, lots of quaint gift shops and a beautiful Marina. Our final day, before stocking up in Morrisons in Milton for our daughter, was eating Sunday Roast at the Fox & Hound in Lyndhurst, fantastic food and even better staff, a lovely village, it prepared us for the drive home. My only negative, which is really minor, was having no WiFi in the barn, however Kate did explain the problem with the copper wiring. It was a fantastic couple of days, magnificent value for money, we all enjoyed our stay tremendously and look forward to visiting Kate again in her beautiful barn, but next time for a lot longer. Paula & Family.

Owner's Response: Thank you Paula we are pleased you all enjoyed your short break. There is 4G at the barn and we use BT so guests also with a BT contract can use us as a hotspot which is OK from our patio. The down side of being in a rural and quite location is the old overhead copper lines and the barn is to far from our hub to hardwire. We look forward to seeing you again when the weather is warmer and you can stay longer X.

Lovely place, great location and a warm welcome

  • 5 of 5

We've just come back from a lovely 4 night stay at the barn and would recommend it highly. Kay is a wonderful host, greeted us with a warm friendly welcome and had loads of useful information to share about the local area, where to eat etc... The barn is perfectly equipped with all you need for a short break with 2 small children (3yr old and a 4 month old), comfortable and spotlessly clean. Compact kitchen downstairs is perfect for 2 adults + 2 (small) children with patio doors onto the garden where our 3yr old loved the playhouse and collecting eggs from the chickens for our breakfast. Its open plan upstairs, bright and clean with a very comfortable kingsize bed and a z-bed for children and travel cot for babies plus a sofa(bed), armchair and TV with dvd player and a wii (we didn't use as were out enjoying the forest most of the days and evenings). The location is great, on the edge of a quiet little village (Bashley) on the south west corner of the forest but also only a 10min drive to the coast where there is a beautiful shingle beach. The village has a handy shop/post office and sells delicious croissants. The barn is next door to a fishery (Orchard Lakes) where we took our 3yr old for his first proper fishing experience which he loved and there are riding stables further up the road which we will check out next time we stay!

Comfortable Barn - Great for Coast & New Forest

  • 4 of 5

Excellent Communciation prior to arrival with owners and a helpful introduction to the facilities of the Barn on arrival. The Barn is very conveniently located to get around in the New Forest, We visited Beaulieu, Bucklers Hard, Lymington, Burley ( Cycle Hire for the NF), Bournemouth, and even managed a day trip to the Isle of Wight. - Would certainly return and recommend to Friends.

We tried a few places to eat but would recomend the Hare and Hounds at Sway and the BeachComber Cafe at Barton on Sea. The Barn is well equipped and was spotlessly clean.
